Story
Active Axel is a handsome golden male German Shepherd/ Great Pyrenees mix who was born on February 11th, 2023 and is still a puppy in every way. He is one of six siblings that survived from a litter of 12. Our guy Axel weighs approximately 90 lbs, and is very GSD smart loving to be next to his humans.  This huge puppy is full of energy and he will fit perfectly in a home where there is a lot of activity, a fenced yard and people who love the BIG DOGS! He really likes walking, hiking, and just a ton of fun with activity. He also loves water and treats the water trough as his own personal spa. We recommend a home with a fence that is a minimum of 5 feet tall.   We do not suggest he go to a home with small children, or farm animals simply because he has no experience with them.  He hangs with his siblings and does well playing with them and also just enjoying their company.  He does need to eat separately for dinner as he protects his food from the other dogs due to early starvation. Handsome Axel is fully vetted, neutered and microchipped and he is kennel and crate trained for quiet time.  This boy needs some time and attention from a caring and dog savvy owner.  He would love to cuddle with you and be your adored companion.  He has such potential…..such love and such a need to grow and evolve into a fine companion in life.  Please email us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested in this big baby!  PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comNovember 4, 2024, 11:48 pm

Story
Gemma is our super smart and happy German Shepherd girl that is a real gem of a dog. This girl is 6 years old and weighs in on the smaller side of a GSD at just 60 pounds.  She is a genuinely curious and happy girl that has all the right measures of playfulness and lazy cuddly time to her personality.  Her favorite things are stuffed toys and tennis balls. This girl is a 'chill' girl and loves to take lots of naps during the day. She has great manners, knows basic commands, is crate trained and housebroken.   She would do great in a home with or without other dogs but we are told that she is a NO CAT type of dog.  She would like to hang out with children older than 10 years of age and on the calm side.  Gemma is ready to find her forever home where she can greet you with her tail wagging and a happy face that lets you know you are important in her life.   If you are interested please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com     PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.  November 4, 2024, 11:48 pm

Story
PLThis beautiful 2-year-old German Shepherd/kelpie mix girl is called Zelda and she is very special. This 50 lb girl endured ending up in a shelter sometime ago and was adopted out but spent the entire next year in the basement of the home of the adopter. How sad that she escaped the bondage of a shelter kennel and ended up in the dark basement hidden away and almost forgotten. She is now enjoying the love and nurturing of a foster home and family who are giving her the best of life while we wait for a new family to discover her. She is cray trained and housebroken and does beautifully with other dogs. Zelda has much of the German Shepherd traits in her personality and obviously those will include extreme intelligence, undying love and devotion to her owners, activity and exercise needed and a fenced in yard will round out the requirements for this girl. She is going to be someone's very special best friend forever. If you were interested in having a smart intelligent beautiful dog in your home and family life, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.comEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comNovember 4, 2024, 11:48 pm

Story
Our beautiful girl is called Queen Phaedra and she is a 9 year old, 85 pound, pure German Shepherd that is tragically losing her home due to the sudden passing of her dad.  This has left her mom in a sad situation where she cannot possibly maintain the home and land and household bills.  There are 3 purebred GSD girls altogether and Phaedra is the leader of the pack in age and personality.  She loves to play ball and runs in her fenced yard for hours just enjoying the great outdoors.  Phaedra is a beautiful girl inside and out and she listens well and knows so many manners and commands.  She is housebroken and good in the house when her mom is gone.  She is the perfect senior girl with lots of time left in her life to bring so much to a family or person.  We want this girl to be taken care of in her golden years.  Can you help give her human mom some peace of mind to know that Phaedra won’t have to go to a shelter?  These are hard times and Critter Cavalry is going to search high and low to help this sweet human mom to place her three girls in committed homes.  Adoption fee will be very low.  They are in East Tennessee and we can transport northward to the northeastern states as well as adopt to Tennessee!  Please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 4, 2024, 11:48 pm

Story
This boy is called Kowboy Kirby and he is a one-year-old 65 lb black and tan German Shepherd who doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body about anything or anyone. He is clueless as to why he should be, so he isn't. Kowboy Kirby is just kind of a goofball that is intelligent and needs to continue to have someone surround him with good guidance and boundaries and the ability to polish him into a fabulous dog. Training is necessary for any German Shepherd and especially for this young boy who hasn't been trained starting early in puppyhood. Only in the past 2 months has he had guidance and a schedule with consistency. He used to not tolerate a wire crate but now he's fine in a plastic crate and he tolerates that. It will be necessary for him not to be left loose in the house when people are gone. He'll get into too much mischief as most dogs will do. Kirby is really a special boy to be as nice and sweet as he is considering the fact that he was found in the middle of a highway during a rainstorm back in July. It was determined that he actually had been given away by someone at a Walmart. These animals should never be handed around like this, but it seems like it's happening more and more. Kirby is housebroken and he walks really nicely on a leash if you're consistent doing it everyday. This is a diamond in the rough kind of guy and we are hoping that you will see the diamond and take him home. Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com And mention where you live, city and state. We transport outside Tennessee to the Northeast as well as doing adoptions locally where we are located in Nashville. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 4, 2024, 11:48 pm

Story
Meet Bam Bam, a friendly and playful German Shepherd who loves to hike! He's a super sweet dog who has been having regular play dates with other dogs. Bam-a-lama-ding-dong (as our director affectionately calls him) has become and impressive hiker- the more technical the trail, the better if you ask him! This athletic guy is house broken and has such a happy smile. He has an obsession with stumps and is quite interested in squirrels and loves a good brain game. He is also good in the car, so he's good company if you take road trips to new hiking spots! Come meet this handsome active guy!Our shelter is open Tuesday-Sunday from 12-4 (closed Mondays). If you are interested in this pet, please review our adoption process at www.lowellhumanesociety.org/adoption/#process so you're prepared to adopt & stop by the shelter with the required information to take home this pet.
