Story
Niko is a 4 yo german shepherd. His birthday is 2/2/18 so he's almost 5. I got him right before Covid so he was not socialized as much as he should've been and has some social anxiety when other humans come to his home or are around his humans. He is extremely protective of what's his and will give ample warning to those who are a threat by barking and pushing them back with his nose. He has to be medicated when he goes to the vet to calm him. With the right training and time this can be corrected. He's extremely intelligent and willing to learn new things. He's a working dog by nature. He loves walks, playing catch with his tennis ball, squeaky toys and lots of attention. He won't leave your side or run away. He's house trained and food driven. I lost my husband to suicide a year ago and due to financial reasons I cannot keep him. I am heartbroken and desperate to find him a loving home asap.

Story
Meet Mikey! Mikey is about 1.5 years old, 73 lbs, and he may have some German Shepherd in his mix! In his foster home, he is working hard on his house-training, crate training, and is learning to walk well on leash. He could go to a home with kids 10+ and other large male dogs. Cats are unknown. He has been treated for Heartworm disease and is now ready for adoption. No apartments, please! His foster says, `Mikey would love a semi active family that likes to go for walks and then cuddle up on the couch for a good nap. He loves to be brushed and petted. He thinks all humans are friends and therefore they must want to pet him too. He is very good with other dogs if given the proper introductions. He is fun loving, smart, and relatively easy going. He will make someone a very nice addition to the family.`He is available for adoption with an approved adopter in Brewster or Hopkinton by appointment. Please fill out an application on our website at https://www.browndogcoalition.com/adoptable as a first step.-Dogs may not be given as gifts or surprises.-Please thoughtfully discuss with your entire household the physical, safety, financial and emotional responsibilities of a dog BEFORE applying to adopt.- More information about our adoption process, application and adoption fees can be found at browndogcoalition.com

Story
Before calling about this dog, please read our adoption requirements at: https://gsrne.org/requirements-for-adopting-from-gsrne/ Hi!  My name is Muks. Could YOU be my Forever Family!!! I would love to come be with YOU forever. I am young and active and love to do lots of fun things with my person. Whether it’s chasing balls in the backyard, playing outside with the kids, hiking or going for walks, or going to training and learning all about how to be the best dog I can be! I love belly rubs and if you scratch my tail, I’ll even do my special little happy dance for you! I’ve become quite the young man since I’ve been with my foster dad and I’m well-behaved in the home – no counter surfing, no jumping on furniture, and I give people their space when they have work to do.  Yay, me!  And since I’m not quite two years old I have plenty of energy and would love it if you’d take me for training, or maybe explore doing scent-work, agility, or other fun stuff too.  I’ve been told I’m much more confident, respectful, and friendly with dogs now than I was initially. I think I would love to live with another dog because I would love to have a playmate who could help me build more confidence. I wouldn’t mind living with the right female dog, a good-natured pal I could play with and continue to learn from. When the day is done, I just want to roll over for those belly rubs.  I can’t wait to meet you and give you all my loving!!!

Story
Are you an active person seeking a likeminded companion for life’s adventures? Well then Tank just may be your guy. Tank is a gorgeous, athletic 2 year old male who’s always on the go. You know those hilarious Facebook/Insta Reels or TikToks your friends send you about the dogs carrying the log 6x the size of their body? This would most definitely be Tank! He loves everything play, he is not a couch potato and will keep you on your toes. We suspect he is likely a working line GSD so he has great drive. He wants to please and needs mental stimulation. We believe he has potential for SAR work or other sporting events. He’d make a great hiking partner. Tank is affectionate and loves to be with his people. He did have a female GSD housemate so, with proper introductions, he could live with another similarly sized female tolerant of his energy. Like all GSDs of his caliber, training and routine are a must. If you make the commitment to Tank, you will have one amazing sidekick. Apply today.

Story
Before calling about this dog, please read our adoption requirements at http://gsrne.org/requirements-for-adopting-from-gsrne Meet Jake… This handsome two-year-old is a smart boy with lots of good traits.  Jake loved the children in the home that he was raised in.  We were told that Jake played nicely with some of the family members' dogs, including a husky and a golden retriever. He is a friendly big boy that easily gets excited and will try to jump up at you when first greeting you. Due to a change in work schedules at the home, Jake was not getting the attention and training he needed. Jake has had some obedience training and seems eager to please. He takes his treats gently, and he's crate-trained. He always wants to carry his Kong toy in his mouth when he’s out and about, and did I mention how smart he is? ♥ Coming from working dog lines, Jake has lots of energy and drive, and would do best with an active family familiar with the breed.  In the right home with a family that enjoys training, will give Jake clear direction,  and continue socializing him, we know that Jake will shine.

Story
https://gsrne.org/our-available-dogs/ Meet Dutchess! If you are looking for a sweet and friendly dog who loves being with her people, then three-year-old Dutchess is the dog for you. She loves her walks, going for car rides and playing with her toys. We’ve had her around some other dogs, and she seems to be good with them and acted like she wanted to play. Dutchess’ owners probably should never have gotten a dog. They never gave her much training or exercise and her skin and fur were obviously neglected. They had no idea how to care for any dog, let alone a young German Shepherd, and told us they were going to have her euthanized. We knew we had to help her! The good news is, now that she has been getting proper medical care and good quality food, her fur looks great. She does need her obedience training worked on and due to lack of socialization and exposure in her original home she can be a little unsure at times. We would like to find her a family/home that will take her on lots of adventures to gradually build up her confidence. Dutchess is a special girl. We can promise you if you meet her you will fall in love with her.

Story
Meet Loki… With his stunning good looks and sweet personality, it’s easy to fall in love with this handsome boy. Loki loves going for walks, playing fetch, and especially loves using his nose to find hidden treats. He lived with children in his original home and was very gentle and loving with them. For a young dog, Loki is not a high-energy dog and, after a walk, would rather just be with his people relaxing on the sofa. When it’s time to settle down, there’s nothing better he would rather do than rest his head on your arm or lap. The ideal home for Loki is with a family that is familiar with the breed. In his original home, Loki, lived with three other German shepherds. There had been a couple of bad fights instigated by the female and younger male, but the last fight that ensued took his owners almost an hour to separate the three dogs. Poor Loki was severely hurt, leaving some serious scarring on his neck and triggering him to become fearful towards some dogs. Loki did get along very well with the older GSD in the home, but he would thrive in an only dog household. Loki really wants to please people. He is extremely social and attentive to humans. He is also very affectionate. He loves human contact https://gsrne.org/dog-bios
