Story
I was given Gunter by a family friend who bred him. He is the most amazing and beautiful dog I have ever seen. For his first 4 years he was my entire life. I took him on vacations, he went to work with me, I trained him in a dog sport called Schutzhund where I got his BH title. Anything I try to train him in he picks up very very quickly. He has an incredible desire to please and serve. Unfortunately, my job changed and I am no longer able to provide him the level of attention and activity he desperately needs and very much deserves. Thank you for your consideration in giving him what I no longer am able to but very much want to.

Hello! My name is Aline&#44 and Iandamp;#39;m a sweet&#44 loyal girl with a big heart. I came to the shelter with my best friend&#44 Lily&#44 and weandamp;#39;re a bonded pair. Weandamp;#39;ve been through a lot together&#44 and Iandamp;#39;d really love to find a home where we can stay together and continue our journey side by side.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Iandamp;#39;m a loving and affectionate girl who is always ready to be by your side. Iandamp;#39;m loyal to the core&#44 and once I get to know you&#44 Iandamp;#39;ll shower you with all the love and companionship Iandamp;#39;ve got to offer. Iandamp;#39;m also a great walker! I walk well on a leash&#44 and Iandamp;#39;d love to go on regular walks with you. Whether itandamp;#39;s a stroll around the neighborhood or a hike in the park&#44 Iandamp;#39;m happy to be out and about with you.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;When it comes to my dog friends&#44 I can be a little selective. I do need to meet any potential dogs in the home to make sure we get along. Iandamp;#39;m not the biggest fan of sharing my space with cats or small animals&#44 so Iandamp;#39;ll need a home without them. But as long as weandamp;#39;re a good match&#44 I promise youandamp;#39;ll have a loyal and loving friend for life.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;I might take a little time to warm up to new situations&#44 but once I trust you&#44 Iandamp;#39;m a devoted companion who will always be there for you. If youandamp;#39;re looking for a sweet&#44 gentle dog whoandamp;#39;s ready to give you all her love (and share it with my best friend Lily&#44 too!)&#44 we could be the perfect fit for your family.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Letandamp;#39;s meet soon-I canandamp;#39;t wait to show you just how much love and joy we can bring to your home.

Story
Hi&#44 Iandamp;#39;m Lily! Iandamp;#39;m a sweet and loving girl whoandamp;#39;s looking for my forever family&#44 and Iandamp;#39;m especially hoping to find a home where I can stay with my best friend&#44 Aline. We came in together through animal control&#44 and weandamp;#39;re a bonded pair-so weandamp;#39;d love to stay together if possible. Iandamp;#39;ve got a lot of love to give&#44 and Aline and I make the perfect team!andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Iandamp;#39;m a friendly dog who loves to be around people&#44 and I get along really well with other dogs too. Iandamp;#39;m always up for playtime and will happily share my space with other friendly pups. However&#44 I do need to meet any potential kids in the home before we start living together-just to make sure we all click and get along perfectly. I want to feel safe and confident in my new environment&#44 and meeting everyone ahead of time will help with that!andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;When it comes to walks&#44 Iandamp;#39;m still learning how to be more confident on the leash&#44 especially when weandamp;#39;re out in new places. Sometimes I get a little nervous or unsure&#44 but Iandamp;#39;m working on it&#44 and with a little patience and guidance&#44 I know Iandamp;#39;ll improve and start walking proudly by your side.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;I might take a little time to settle in and find my confidence&#44 but I promise Iandamp;#39;m so sweet&#44 gentle&#44 and loyal once I feel comfortable. If youandamp;#39;re looking for a loving companion whoandamp;#39;s ready to join your family (especially if youandamp;#39;ve got room for me and Aline!)&#44 Iandamp;#39;d love to meet you and start our new life together.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Letandamp;#39;s take it slow&#44 and I know Iandamp;#39;ll show you just how sweet and devoted I can be!andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;**Photography by volunteer Elizabeth Faria!**

Story
Had these pups since they were 8 weeks old and got from a friend who's dog had puppies. He is a German Shepard and mini Shepard mix. Shortly after getting the puppies I lost my job and fell behind on bills. I have been trying to catch up since and just getting further behind. I now am going to have to move in with family who will not allow me to have my dogs and I have no clue when I will be in a place to get my own apartment again. I just want him to go to a good home and to be loved. He has always been with his brother (also in the pic) and would love to keep the puppies together. He is a dog who loves the outside and will tax you on ice (I give him ice when I get ice). He stays in his kennel while I am at work but is able to roam the house when I am home. (he usually wants to be right next to you unless playing with brother.

Story
Spayed Female     Age: 3-5    Size: 55-65 lbs Jambalaya was rescued from life on the streets where her previous owners left her outdoors to roam downtown kansas city and did not provide her shelter or care. Neighbors saw that she was losing her hair and looked thin, so they contacted us to step in. We were able to get her signed over to our care and have begun treatment for her mange which was the cause of her hair loss. Jambalaya is very sweet, affectionate, loves walks, and loves snacks! She has tested well with dogs around her size and would love a home where she can be a couch potato! She is fairly laid back as long as she gets her regular walks and outside time. She does get anxious in kennels and would love a home with someone who could be home with her more often than not, or would take her along on adventures! If you'd like to meet Jambalaya, please fill out our online dog adoption application at kcpaws.orgOctober 28, 2024, 6:52 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Noel is a goofy, beautiful, carefree, energetic and very loving girl who just wants to have fun. She loves playing with the other dogs, going on walks, or just generally doing whatever her foster family is doing. She's going to make someone a fantastic buddy and companion. BACKSTORYNoel came to MOGS after she was seized by animal control for cruelty. She was starved, dehydrated and left outside with no shelter. She is currently is a foster home. TEMPERAMENT / BEHAVIOR Noel is amazing. She was seized for extreme cruelty but despite her suffering she still loves people. She's a sweet little girl who is very soft, friendly and goofy. She wants to greet everyone and will be very vocal about it. She loves being in the same room with her humans and will follow everywhere. She acts as a tripping hazard since she picks the least out of the way spot to lay down, especially in the kitchen. She does tend to sniff the counter and floor for yummies but has never jumped up to grab anything. Will try her best to reach into a high chair to get leftovers but will leave it if told to. Her foster family doesn't leave things towards the edge of counters so she is not given the opportunity to steal anything. She does like to chew on stuffed animals and does not know the difference between her toys and baby's toys so her foster family does their best to just keep non-dog toys off the floor. Like most GSDs Noel is a super shedder, her fur is very thick. TRAININGShe's learning basic manners and doing very well. She is food driven which will help with her training. The first new behavior she had to practice was waiting at baby gates or backyard fences. She has climbed a fence to follow her person on the other side. With a 6 ft fence she will be fine, with a somewhat lower fence, she will need complete supervision in the backyard to avoid escaping. She sometimes jumps baby gates to be closer to her people. She is pretty good at listening and has learned the sit command. She is house broken and crate trained. She does okay on a leash and is currently walked with a combo of the martingale collar and a gentle leader for better control. She can get a bit wild and unruly when other dogs are near since she wants to go say hi and play. Her future family will need to spend the time to exercise her and stimulate her, and finish her training using good canine leadership skills. OTHER ANIMALSNoel gets along with most dogs; she just wants to play. Sometimes she plays too rough for other dogs because she is so excited. She does not seem to understand her size and she is very fast moving. Currently lives with her foster siblings, a 25lb dog and a 12lb chiweenie. Noel does seem to respect the smaller dog's space. Noel would do best with a same size and energy level doggie buddy to play and romp with. She's still got a lot of puppy in her and occasionally doesn’t notice when other dogs tell her they're tired, so you may have to remind her that play time is over. She takes correction easily and is perfectly willing to go inside and let the other dogs rest. Noel has a mild-to-moderate small prey drive and cannot be in a home with cats. PEOPLENoel does well with adults and is very good with kids. She has been very patient with the human toddler in her foster home. When the young one gets a little crazy, she for the most part handles it very well. She has learned the command 'escape' or move away from toddler reach. When she has reached her limit, she will let him know with a nudge or growl but has never shown aggression. Noel is a large, strong and energetic dog who has the potential to be too rough in play and knock a child over, or collide with a child. As with all large dogs, she must be supervised around small children just to be sure things don't get too rough. MEDICAL Up-to-date on all vaccines, has a current rabies tag, is spayed and has been microchipped. She was originally heartworm positive but has been treated and is heartworm free. Noel has a toenail that grows up and over but doesn't appear to cause her any discomfort other than when she has her nails trimmed. At some point prior to coming to MOGS, Noel suffered from a LEFT hind leg femur fracture that did not receive any treatment, so healed slightly misaligned. Because of this, she does sometimes experience discomfort in that leg and requires intermittent pain management with an anti-inflammatory pain reliever. She also receives joint supplement support on a daily basis. Noel's injured leg has been assessed by her regular vet, as well as orthopedic experts at Blue Pearl, and both experts agree this will be a chronic monitoring situation which will need intermittent pain management for life. Even though Noel has medium to high energy, this leg can sometimes significantly limit her activity due to discomfort. At those times, she will do best with short walks around the neighborhood, just not too far as she cannot handle it. Noel has no other known medical issues.   If you're looking for a gorgeous, trainable furballwho will love you forever,NOEL is your girl! NOEL'S ADOPTION FEE:   $300This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so oINTERESTED IN ADOPTING NOEL?Complete an Adoption Application Now!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.STOP!! READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER! We're picky about our adopters.  Are you sure you're up to having a GSD?  They're not for everyone.  They take a lot of time, effort, training.  They shed year round.  They're big.  They scare lots of people.  They 'mouth' and herd.  They're usually strong-willed and stubborn.  You have to have references and a home visit.  If you're not willing or able to deal with any of this, please don't waste your time or ours applying.   Will the dog be an inside family pet? We do not adopt to outdoor-only homes. All dogs must be indoor dogs. Do you leave your dog outdoors when you're not home?   We do not adopt to homes that leave their animals outside when they're gone.  You must put your dogs indoors when you're gone.  A 3 yr old adopted MOGS dog died when the owners went to run errands, left her outdoors, the gate was somehow opened, and she was hit by a car.  Tragic and 100% preventable. Even privacy fences get broken into.  Gates are opened.  Thieves steal dogs. Never leave your dog outdoors when you're not home!! What's your plan for unexpected events and major changes?  New baby? Divorce?  Moving?   How you will provide for your dog if your family breaks up?  Will you make a lifetime commitment?  It's your responsibility to keep your dog safe, loved and cared for FOR LIFE.  Do you understand we expect you to keep that lifetime commitment?  It's YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to stick by your family member -- no matter what. Are you unable or unwilling to make a lifetime commitment? Do not apply.   Have Questions? Email us at mogsrescue@gmail.com Thank you for considering a homeless dog or cat.November 3, 2024, 9:06 pm
