Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Louie is a young German Shepherd mix male, around 3 years old.  He bonds quickly to people, and is a very smart dog so will respond well to an experienced dog owner who can provide him structure and positive guidance!  Louie knows lots of basic commands, he is neutered, housetrained and kennel trained. He does require a home with no children as he does have work to do on resource guarding behaviors.  He is friendly and playful with other dogs; but will resource guard without warning so may be best suited as an only dog in his forever home.  Ultimately, the best fit for Louie will be someone willing to devote time and patience to him, and they will be rewarded with the love and loyalty of an amazing pup! No apartments or multi-family home settings for Louie please, and preferably a person within 50 miles of Cedar Rapids, IA so as to continue to work with Cedar Run Pet Boarding & Daycare for training help as needed.  Louie's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives plus the assistance of Cedar Run for basic obedience training classes and resources.  Last Hope does require that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, be altered and current on vaccinations and preventatives. This includes animals already owned by potential adopters. Our adoption process includes multiple opportunities for meet and greets, a vet history check and home visit as well as background and reference checks.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 5, 2024, 1:45 pm

Story
Say hello to Shotzy, the Midwest’s champion fetch player and all-around good girl! Shotzy is a 10 year old, 81 pound German Shepherd. If you can throw it, Shotzy will fetch and return it, unless she’s feeling sassy and it becomes a game of keep-away. Shotzy LOVES people and wants to be by your side whatever you’re doing: working in the yard, taking a nap or concentrating at your computer. Bonus points if it includes a car ride. Shotzy knows basic commands and is eager to learn new ones. She is well-behaved and smart as a whip. Shotzy is left free to roam in her home when her foster mom is gone. Shotzy spent the majority of her life chained to a tree in small-town Missouri. Her standard healthcare had been neglected so she came to us with issues from head to tail. Over the last year all her troubles have been addressed and she is now a beautiful example of her breed. She is house-trained, spayed, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. She takes a 16mg Apoquel tablet daily for allergies. Though she loves people and kids, she is not a fan of cats. Shotzy could do well with another large male dog but would be really happy to be the queen of her castle. Shotzy requires a physically fenced yard to run and play safely. If you would like to meet Shotzy, please complete the adoption application on our website: www.furfunrescue.org. If you have questions about Shotzy, you can contact rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657. Adopters must be within a two-hour radius of Cedar Rapids, IA. Indoor homes only. Adoption fee $250.

Story
Stella is a 2 year old Shepherd/Heeler mix. She is a sweet dog who has a protective personality. This has caused her to exhibit what we refer to as "resource guarding". She is not an outwardly aggressive dog, but she has had issues in the past where she wasn't comfortable with the actions of a human that was in her immediate area. Stella does have a history of being mouthy to the point of breaking skin. We strongly feel that in the right environment, she will do wonderful. Stella would do best in a home with no small children or other animals. If you have an animal already in your home, we would require a slow introduction and possible several meet and greets to make sure it is a good fit. She loves walks and playing tugs and ball. Stella's adoption fee includes her spay, vaccines, microchip and various other treatments. If Stella is the dog for you, please stop by the front desk or call 641-753-9046. Please don't count Stella out because of her history. Lets work together on her Furever instead!
