Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Louie is a young German Shepherd mix male, around 3 years old.  He bonds quickly to people, and is a very smart dog so will respond well to an experienced dog owner who can provide him structure and positive guidance!  Louie knows lots of basic commands, he is neutered, housetrained and kennel trained. He does require a home with no children as he does have work to do on resource guarding behaviors.  He is friendly and playful with other dogs; but will resource guard without warning so may be best suited as an only dog in his forever home.  Ultimately, the best fit for Louie will be someone willing to devote time and patience to him, and they will be rewarded with the love and loyalty of an amazing pup! No apartments or multi-family home settings for Louie please, and preferably a person within 50 miles of Cedar Rapids, IA so as to continue to work with Cedar Run Pet Boarding & Daycare for training help as needed.  Louie's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives plus the assistance of Cedar Run for basic obedience training classes and resources.  Last Hope does require that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, be altered and current on vaccinations and preventatives. This includes animals already owned by potential adopters. Our adoption process includes multiple opportunities for meet and greets, a vet history check and home visit as well as background and reference checks.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 2, 2024, 11:48 am

Story
Say hello to Shotzy, the Midwest’s champion fetch player and all-around good girl! Shotzy is a 10 year old, 81 pound German Shepherd. If you can throw it, Shotzy will fetch and return it, unless she’s feeling sassy and it becomes a game of keep-away. Shotzy LOVES people and wants to be by your side whatever you’re doing: working in the yard, taking a nap or concentrating at your computer. Bonus points if it includes a car ride. Shotzy knows basic commands and is eager to learn new ones. She is well-behaved and smart as a whip. Shotzy is left free to roam in her home when her foster mom is gone. Shotzy spent the majority of her life chained to a tree in small-town Missouri. Her standard healthcare had been neglected so she came to us with issues from head to tail. Over the last year all her troubles have been addressed and she is now a beautiful example of her breed. She is house-trained, spayed, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. She takes a 16mg Apoquel tablet daily for allergies. Though she loves people and kids, she is not a fan of cats. Shotzy could do well with another large male dog but would be really happy to be the queen of her castle. Shotzy requires a physically fenced yard to run and play safely. If you would like to meet Shotzy, please complete the adoption application on our website: www.furfunrescue.org. If you have questions about Shotzy, you can contact rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657. Adopters must be within a two-hour radius of Cedar Rapids, IA. Indoor homes only. Adoption fee $250.

Story
This blue-eyed cutie is Jaxon, a 16-month-old Shepherd and Husky mix. Jaxon came into rescue as a local owner surrender. His family had him in their front yard off leash and watched him run into the street and get hit by a car. Jaxon’s femur was broken, and he had some road rash. Our vet clinic reached out for help to save him, he needed orthopedic surgery and his owners had no funds. Jaxon’s femur has healed beautifully, and he is ready to find a home. Jaxon is a really good boy. He does well with other dogs, kids, and dog savvy cats. This guy even gives our vets kisses. He would really love to have a playmate in his new home. Jaxon is a goofy guy with a lot of personality. When he wants something from you he boops you with his nose. He will also boop a cat to initiate play, most cats would not be amused. The cat at his foster home actually plays with him. Jaxon requires a physically fenced yard to run and play safely. He would love an active family. Jaxon is housetrained, kennel trained, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and microchipped. If you would like to meet Jaxon, please complete the adoption application on our website: www.furfunrescue.org. If you have questions about Jaxon, you can contact rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657. Indoor homes only. Adopters within two hours of Cedar Rapids, IA only, please. Adoption fee $300.

Story
Bullet is anything BUT a bullet; he's more or less closer to a slow-moving bowling ball, but that wouldn't make such a great name! Luckily, Bullet doesn't mind one bit, at his estimated age of 6 years old, and surely over 100 pounds at this point. As hammy as shepherds can get, he is a bundle of cuddles, lovin's, and kisses. Bullet loves other dogs, and he's even lived peacefully with cats and tiny dogs. Bullet is a doll in every way you can imagine, from his shepherd love of rubbing his head against your legs, to staring at you, just waiting for you to talk to him. His favorite trick is weasling his way between your legs and then standing there, staring at you like he's proud of the accomplishment he just made. We cannot get enough of him and his hilarious antics, he thoroughly enjoys romping the dog yards with the others and chasing them around like a mad man! But when all is said and done, (about 5 minutes in) he is happy to lay and bask in the sun, or in the shade near us getting all the butt scratches we've got to offer him! Bullet has yet to meet a person that he doesn't absolutely love!
