Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Louie is a young German Shepherd mix male, around 3 years old.  He bonds quickly to people, and is a very smart dog so will respond well to an experienced dog owner who can provide him structure and positive guidance!  Louie knows lots of basic commands, he is neutered, housetrained and kennel trained. He does require a home with no children as he does have work to do on resource guarding behaviors.  He is friendly and playful with other dogs; but will resource guard without warning so may be best suited as an only dog in his forever home.  Ultimately, the best fit for Louie will be someone willing to devote time and patience to him, and they will be rewarded with the love and loyalty of an amazing pup! No apartments or multi-family home settings for Louie please, and preferably a person within 50 miles of Cedar Rapids, IA so as to continue to work with Cedar Run Pet Boarding & Daycare for training help as needed.  Louie's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives plus the assistance of Cedar Run for basic obedience training classes and resources.  Last Hope does require that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, be altered and current on vaccinations and preventatives. This includes animals already owned by potential adopters. Our adoption process includes multiple opportunities for meet and greets, a vet history check and home visit as well as background and reference checks.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 6:20 pm

Story
Blue is beautiful 3 year old female German shepherd. She is not spayed, but up to date on her rabies and distemper shots. She is potty trained and crate trained, she sleeps outside the kennel at night but is kenneled when her owners leave. She is a very affectionate dog and loves people. Playing fetch, going on walks or car rides are some of her favorite things. She shows her affection to her people by licking ears, and snuggling up when sleepy. She loves her nyalon bone, ice cubes or carrots for snacks. Blue is a vocal dog who will bark at new faces, but will make fast friends at anyone who shows her affection. Blue is great with people but struggles with being dog reactive and frequently barks at other dogs. She has shown that she can be aggressive with other dogs so might do best in a home as the only dog

Story
Nobody can get enough of our tripod Bourbon! If you have a single great experience with this handsome boy, he is BOUND to your side like glue, and it is the CUTEST ever. He approaches the world with such a tender, loving curiosity combined with adorable innocence; he is the cuddle bug we ALL adore. At about 2 years old, and 60 pounds, he's 100% a good boy! He's already mastering 'sit', crate training, + of course, puppy dog eyes! As you can see, he is just TOO cute, and if you're prepared to keep up with this cuteness, he will make a perfect fit into your home! So far, Bourbon's favorite activities are anything to do with people, but he does also adore other dogs, and even hanging out with cats! Bourbon is definitely an active dog, but we figure he will mellow out very well once he's comfortable at home, and we can't just him for having fun with us! What I love most about Bourbon is definitely the hilarious faces he makes so casually, he's a very expressive boy; and he lets you know allll about it!

Story
This is Mave, she is about a year old. I found her when she was 2 months old on the side of the road, she is a german shepherd mix. Mave is still in her puppy stage and is very hyper, loves attention, and loves to go on walks. She likes to play with other dogs, but would be best in a home with another larger dog, because she does get a little rough and would do better with a dog her own size. She would also do better in a house with no cats or younger children because she does like to play bite when she is playing. It takes her time to warm up to strangers and seems to be a little more standoffish towards men. She is potty trained and kennel trained.

These pups are in Cedar Rapids, Iowa too!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi there! My name is Tiger and I am almost three years old. I get along with other dogs and I am pretty well housebroken. I am good when left alone, but prefer to be near my person as much as possible. I will play with some squeaky toys, but I prefer attention and cuddling, one could call me a lap dog. Don't get me wrong though, for, as much as I love to cuddle I still do have a lot of energy that I need to get out of me so I have higher than average exercise needs ! I do enjoy being outside and do pretty well on leash though I am not a big fan of encountering strangers. I have been on some car rides and enjoy them. I might be excited at first, but if you ask me to stay in the backseat I will. Overall I would be a good addition to the right person or family, but I do need someone that can work with me on basic manners (I jump up when I get excited) and continue learning good behaviors so an experienced dog owner who is very familiar with my breed   is a must. I am not a fit with  children or cats. I will also definitely need a 6 foot fence as I am a bit of an escape artist! Tigers adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives PLUS a free obedience course at Cedar Run in Hiawatha.  Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, be current on preventatives and vaccinations and be altered.  Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a vet check and a home visit.  Please submit an adoption application for consideration at www.adopthope.org.
