Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Louie is a young German Shepherd mix male, around 3 years old.  He bonds quickly to people, and is a very smart dog so will respond well to an experienced dog owner who can provide him structure and positive guidance!  Louie knows lots of basic commands, he is neutered, housetrained and kennel trained. He does require a home with no children as he does have work to do on resource guarding behaviors.  He is friendly and playful with other dogs; but will resource guard without warning so may be best suited as an only dog in his forever home.  Ultimately, the best fit for Louie will be someone willing to devote time and patience to him, and they will be rewarded with the love and loyalty of an amazing pup! No apartments or multi-family home settings for Louie please, and preferably a person within 50 miles of Cedar Rapids, IA so as to continue to work with Cedar Run Pet Boarding & Daycare for training help as needed.  Louie's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives plus the assistance of Cedar Run for basic obedience training classes and resources.  Last Hope does require that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, be altered and current on vaccinations and preventatives. This includes animals already owned by potential adopters. Our adoption process includes multiple opportunities for meet and greets, a vet history check and home visit as well as background and reference checks.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 6:20 pm

Story
Say hello to Shotzy, the Midwest’s champion fetch player and all-around good girl! Shotzy is a 10 year old, 81 pound German Shepherd. If you can throw it, Shotzy will fetch and return it, unless she’s feeling sassy and it becomes a game of keep-away. Shotzy LOVES people and wants to be by your side whatever you’re doing: working in the yard, taking a nap or concentrating at your computer. Bonus points if it includes a car ride. Shotzy knows basic commands and is eager to learn new ones. She is well-behaved and smart as a whip. Shotzy is left free to roam in her home when her foster mom is gone. Shotzy spent the majority of her life chained to a tree in small-town Missouri. Her standard healthcare had been neglected so she came to us with issues from head to tail. Over the last year all her troubles have been addressed and she is now a beautiful example of her breed. She is house-trained, spayed, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. She takes a 16mg Apoquel tablet daily for allergies. Though she loves people and kids, she is not a fan of cats. Shotzy could do well with another large male dog but would be really happy to be the queen of her castle. Shotzy requires a physically fenced yard to run and play safely. If you would like to meet Shotzy, please complete the adoption application on our website: www.furfunrescue.org. If you have questions about Shotzy, you can contact rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657. Adopters must be within a two-hour radius of Cedar Rapids, IA. Indoor homes only. Adoption fee $250.

Story
This blue-eyed cutie is Jaxon, a 16-month-old Shepherd and Husky mix. Jaxon came into rescue as a local owner surrender. His family had him in their front yard off leash and watched him run into the street and get hit by a car. Jaxon’s femur was broken, and he had some road rash. Our vet clinic reached out for help to save him, he needed orthopedic surgery and his owners had no funds. Jaxon’s femur has healed beautifully, and he is ready to find a home. Jaxon is a really good boy. He does well with other dogs, kids, and dog savvy cats. This guy even gives our vets kisses. He would really love to have a playmate in his new home. Jaxon is a goofy guy with a lot of personality. When he wants something from you he boops you with his nose. He will also boop a cat to initiate play, most cats would not be amused. The cat at his foster home actually plays with him. Jaxon requires a physically fenced yard to run and play safely. He would love an active family. Jaxon is housetrained, kennel trained, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and microchipped. If you would like to meet Jaxon, please complete the adoption application on our website: www.furfunrescue.org. If you have questions about Jaxon, you can contact rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657. Indoor homes only. Adopters within two hours of Cedar Rapids, IA only, please. Adoption fee $300.

She is very vocal about new people and things. The best place for her would be a place with no other dogs already in the house and a fenced in yard she can run all her energy off.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi there! My name is Tiger and I am almost three years old. I get along with other dogs and I am pretty well housebroken. I am good when left alone, but prefer to be near my person as much as possible. I will play with some squeaky toys, but I prefer attention and cuddling, one could call me a lap dog. Don't get me wrong though, for, as much as I love to cuddle I still do have a lot of energy that I need to get out of me so I have higher than average exercise needs ! I do enjoy being outside and do pretty well on leash though I am not a big fan of encountering strangers. I have been on some car rides and enjoy them. I might be excited at first, but if you ask me to stay in the backseat I will. Overall I would be a good addition to the right person or family, but I do need someone that can work with me on basic manners (I jump up when I get excited) and continue learning good behaviors so an experienced dog owner who is very familiar with my breed   is a must. I am not a fit with  children or cats. I will also definitely need a 6 foot fence as I am a bit of an escape artist! Tigers adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives PLUS a free obedience course at Cedar Run in Hiawatha.  Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, be current on preventatives and vaccinations and be altered.  Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a vet check and a home visit.  Please submit an adoption application for consideration at www.adopthope.org. Story
Meet Shadow, a young dog with a desire to find a home (or rescue!) who knows his breed inside and out. Shadow has the classic Malinois traits - intelligence, loyalty, and a desire to be busy - so a human/home with breed experience is going to be to this guys benefit. Physical and mental demands are important to meet for any dog, especially for guys like Shadow! Shadow is a leggy guy that will thrive with a consistent environment with structure and direction. A low activity home or first time pet owners would not be a fit at this time, but we are happy to communicate on finding a match for you and your family for a different dog. We know this boy will excel in the right environment where he can work/train/and have an outlet for energy. Agility, advanced obedience, and dog sports to name a few! With the right people and places, we think he will make an incredible companion.**If inquiring from a rescue, please specify when calling/emailing. Thank you!
