Story
We rescued Sidney from a horrific shelter in Memphis, TN. When we got him, he was skin and bones and had some barrier aggression issues (who knows what horrors he suffered there) It didn't take long for Sidney to realize he was now safe and could start letting down his guard. Sidney Poitier has filled out and is truly a stunning dog. Sidney is about 2 years old, and is at his healthy weight of 80 lbs. Sidney is a very intelligent fellow, he learns quicky and is anxious to please. He will do well with a job and/or a lot of stimulation, long walks and hikes. He will do well with an experienced dog person. Sidney loves meeting new people. He has done well with large dogs he has met, however he is would not be good with small dogs or cats. Sidney does show barrier reactivity, however, when the barrier is removed (whether it is a crate, fence or car window) he show absolutely no issues. Because Sidney likes a lot of activity, he will need a securely fenced yard (must be a physical fence, not an electric or invisible system)  He is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and on monthly treatment for flea/ticks and heartworm prevention Sidney is currently located in the Middle TN area but transport is included in the adoption fee for approved adopter If you are interested in Sidney Poitier, email cox_ann@bellsouth.net for an application

Story
Say Hello to Lucy! Lucy is 3 years young and searching for her forever companion and adventure buddy! Lucy loves to be outside, almost as much as she loves to stay close to her human. She doesn't mind her kitty siblings and if children want to play a game of fetch, Lucy is ready to go! This beautiful girl, is house-trained, crate trained and up to date on her vaccinations and preventatives. The only thing missing for Lucy is her forever home! Lucy is young and healthy and loves to run and play. She would do well with someone who is active and has a fenced yard. Story
Mack is a super intelligent purebred four year old Czechoslovakian Shepherd (similar to Dutch or Belgian Shepherds). He has had obedience training by the 203K-9 company and follows commands well. The breed is high energy and unfortunately we both work and cannot give him the amount of time he deserves to play and go out on walks. As we are a couple with two other dogs and a cat, we haven't been able to get them to all get along and therefore must find him a new home where he will get all the attention. This breed is often used for many jobs such as search and rescue, police, military, etc. We are willing to contribute to his further training for the right new owner. He will make a wonderful companion to someone who has a large fenced in yard with no other pets or young children. An application process and interview is required.

Story
Diesel is such a sweet boy, but my family dynamics have changed and we cannot give him the attention and time he needs. Diesel loves cuddling and is very affectionate. We've had him since he was about 4 months old. He is a pure GS with his breed of record certificate. He is an active dog, and sometimes thinks he's still a puppy. He is completely housebroken with no accidents since he was a pup, this could be due to having him on a schedule. He is smart! His high intelligence should not go to waste, keep him engaged or he will find unproductive ways to keep himself occupied. This has been a 2 year battle of going back and fourth with rehoming him as he is the perfect dog, he just deserves a family to give him the time and attention we can no longer provide for him. DOB: April of 2018/ Weight 68lbs

Story
Loki is a rescue originally from San Diego, CA. My brother rescued him and about a year later he found out he was going to be stationed overseas for 3 years and couldn’t bring Loki with him. I took him in for the duration of time and recently returned him to my brother. However, since returning my brother’s lifestyle has drastically changed with a baby in the mix and working full time. They are living in an apartment complex which makes it hard to give loki’s the life he deserves which is lots of active time running around. he is a protective dog and also a huge lover. He knows his basic commands, he is 100% house trained, he let you know when he hast to go outside for a potty break. He does get very excited around dogs in public, which is something that has been hard to tackle, but he has never attacked a person or another dog. He is good around kids and people in general, we would just love to find someone who is a looking to give Loki his best life!!

Story
Meet Eli, a sweet one-year-old, 40 lb. German Shepherd with quite a story to tell. He was found down south with a pellet lodged in his spine...yes, that's right, somebody actually shot this precious pup! Despite knowing only cruelty from humans in the past, Eli has thrived under the care of his current foster family, now on Long Island. Eli is very sweet and loves to play with toys. He is a happy boy who loves affection and knows exactly the right time to howl in the song, “Werewolves of London!” He likes the company of other dogs but has never been around cats. Now, Eli needs a very special person...he can walk but does suffer from some internal paralysis resulting in mild bladder and bowel dysfunction. Will you be the one to save this handsome deserving soul and give him a second chance? **This is a courtesy post for PAWS Long Island. If you have specific questions about Eli or are interested in applying/meeting him, please email adoptions@paws-li.org or call 631-306-4616. You can also CC or email info@happilyfureverafter.org directly.
