Story
Hello! I'm a sweet and shy 13yr old boy who wants a calm household. I would not do well living in an apartment/condo/townhome, but I would excel at keeping your yard free from critters. I play nicely with other dogs, and don't let my age fool you...I still have plenty of pep in my step! I can't wait to love you! I am very timid with new people. I need an adopter who can commit to multiple meetings over time before I could come home with you. Loud noises are scary so a calm and quiet living environment with only one or two adults would be best for me. I would not do well living in an apartment or shared wall situation. I need a fenced yard. I'm crate trained and dog-door trained! I love to play with other dogs. I'd love a dog friend to play with me and a big back yard to run around in. I need a quiet home with only one or two people. I love to work for treats! I need to have a house with fenced in yard. I don’t have experience being around cats. I don't like loud noises. Children are often loud, so I prefer to not be around them. I would do best in a home without children. I’m shy but I love relaxed and loving people. I’m crate trained and dog-door trained!

Story
Indy is a shy 10-month-old German Shepherd mix. She is very smart and food motivated and would benefit from continued training to build her confidence. She would do best in a patient and experienced home where she can learn to trust her humans. Once she learns to trust you, she is very sweet and loves nothing more than snuggling and going on car rides. Indy would like a home with another social dog as she loves playing with her dog friends. Because of her shy demeanor, she would do best in a home with adults only, and no children under 13. Indy loves playing with a variety of toys, and especially loves bones, rope toys, and toys with squeakers. She'd love a home with a yard to run around in and continue to explore the world. If you're looking for a sweet, smart, and playful pup, Indy is the one for you! Indy's adoption fee includes a personalized training program.

Story
Hello, It pains me greatly but I have come to the difficult decision of having to rehome my dog, Enzo. He is two and a half years old, his birthday is in October. He is a pure bred long haired White Swiss Shephard. He is very loving and sweet and a bit of a velcro dog. He does not do well with other dogs and would do best in an environment with no other dogs, although he has no problem with cats or children. He was trained at the Sit Means Sit training academy, I keep up with his lessons, and he has free private lessons for his lifetime. He would do well with someone who is able to take him on daily walks, and who is home more often than not. I am no longer able to care for him as my living situation and schedule have changed drastically, and I am no longer able to provide him with the love and care he deserves.

Zuko is a very energetic and loving dog. I am very sad to have to rehome him, but it is for the best as I have a very demanding job and I live in an apartment with no yard. Zuko also loves other dogs and playing with them. He is always willing to play and he needs lots of running room.

Story
We saw Rosie on the PPHS website and immediately fell in love. I’ve had another senior GSD that I adopted at PPHS for years, and she is my dream dog, so we thought why not include another senior member to the family. She is by far the SWEETEST dog I have ever met. So friendly, gentle, and loving. Everything you could want in a dog. We love her so much. However, she does not get along with our other shepherd at all. We have tried to acquaint them with each other for a couple weeks now. I don’t think she was originally the problem, but our other shepherd was unsure of her at first and barked, and Rosie became unsure and a little scared and now refuses to get close to her. And she’s just not happy being left separately in one part of the house alone if my other Shepherd is getting a turn in the main part of the house. We would love for her to go to a home where she can get all the attention she needs all the time!!

Story
Meet Woofistopheles, your soon-to-be new best friend! This adorable male dog is a gentle, quiet soul but has plenty of affection to give. He's a well-mannered pup who is curious and playful, yet low energy. He's the perfect companion for someone looking for a furry friend who is on the calmer side but still loves to have fun.  This pup was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2318689##

Story
If you’re looking for a happy, wiggly, lovebug, look no further—Zack is the one for you! This sweet pup’s tail never stops wagging, and his whole body wiggles with excitement whenever he sees a new friend (which is everyone).       He’s a total social butterfly, getting along great with other dogs and always ready for playtime or snuggles. And when it comes to affection? He lives to give kisses! If you need a best friend who will shower you with love and brighten your days, Zack is your perfect match.       From foster - Meet Zack. I honestly don't think this boy's tail ever stops wagging. He is the happiest, most loving, sweetest and loves to give kisses. He also has passed the kids test. Big time. And he loves toys that make noise. He's already emptied out the toy box and I think has chewed on every single one. Zack was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! Story
0822281 - Nymeria is a sweet girl who loves to get pet and is very affectionate.  We think she is a shepherd/husky mix, she is 6-7 years old but she is still very energetic and playful.  She would love her new human to be active and get her out on walks, hikes and runs.  She also likes to play in the water.  She does okay with other dogs out of the home as long as they are more on the submissive side but would do best as the only dog in the home.  She would also do best in a home with older kids (or no kids) and loved the teenagers in her foster home.  Nymeria loves toys and can often be found with a ball in her mouth.  She is house and crate trained. She is very smart and treat motivated so with a little training the sky is the limit for this girl!  If you are interested in meeting her please complete an application at www.sloppykisses.org/adoptions! ##1508274##

0424080 - Little May is a bit shy, she is quiet and loving.  May and her sister have both learned to use the doggie door at their foster home.  They both get along with the 6 other dogs at the foster's house.  May likes to play with other dogs and she likes toys.  May has been crate-trained and also likes to go into the crate to nap during the day.  May is a sweet German Shepherd puppy with a loving, sweet spirit.  She is not comfortable on the leash yet, but her fosters are trying to help her learn that leashwalking can be fun! 0914168 - **Meet Britt: Your Spunky, Low-Rider Sweetheart!** Britt is a sturdy little gal with a big heart! At around 6 months old and 35 lbs, this mystery mix (maybe shepherd, maybe kelpie?) is full of personality and ready for her forever home. She made her way to Colorado from a high-kill shelter in New Mexico, and now she's eager to begin the next chapter of her life. Britt loves playing with other dogs and has great energy, though she’s still learning to share her toys—probably because they’re the first she’s ever had! She’s already house and kennel trained, making her an easy fit into any home.  Affectionate, bright, and highly treat-motivated, Britt is ready to soak up all the love and attention she deserves. She might look a lot like a purebred shepherd, but her unique charm is all her own! This sweet and affectionate girl loves to play—whether it’s with her toys or canine friends, she’s always up for some fun. She’s also the perfect house guest: Shanny is house trained, kennel trained, and respectful of cats (she prefers to just ignore them). Shanny enjoys her walks and doesn’t pull much, though her shepherd nose keeps her curious about all the exciting smells along the way.
