Hello, I`m Scooby! I enjoy playing fetch, with stuffed animals and getting milk bones. I am crate trained but may need help with potty training. I have lived with other dogs and cats. I can be nervous around new people, so please let me come to you first. Staff and volunteers have been working on building my confidence, and I`ll need more help once I`m home. I require a home without children just because I`m super shy and need someone who can respect my space.

Meet Ragnar! He is a high energy boy looking for an active and patient home. Training classes will really help him adjust. He enjoys playing tug of war, getting treats, and keeping busy both physically and mentally. He has lived with another dog his size and children, but a mature home is recommended due to his energy and tendency to jump on little ones. Ragnar is looking for a feline free home. He is crate and potty trained.

Story
Hello! I'm a sweet and shy 13yr old boy who wants a calm household. I would not do well living in an apartment/condo/townhome, but I would excel at keeping your yard free from critters. I play nicely with other dogs, and don't let my age fool you...I still have plenty of pep in my step! I can't wait to love you! I am very timid with new people. I need an adopter who can commit to multiple meetings over time before I could come home with you. Loud noises are scary so a calm and quiet living environment with only one or two adults would be best for me. I would not do well living in an apartment or shared wall situation. I need a fenced yard. I'm crate trained and dog-door trained! I love to play with other dogs. I'd love a dog friend to play with me and a big back yard to run around in. I need a quiet home with only one or two people. I love to work for treats! I need to have a house with fenced in yard. I don’t have experience being around cats. I don't like loud noises. Children are often loud, so I prefer to not be around them. I would do best in a home without children. I’m shy but I love relaxed and loving people. I’m crate trained and dog-door trained!

Story
Indy is a shy 10-month-old German Shepherd mix. She is very smart and food motivated and would benefit from continued training to build her confidence. She would do best in a patient and experienced home where she can learn to trust her humans. Once she learns to trust you, she is very sweet and loves nothing more than snuggling and going on car rides. Indy would like a home with another social dog as she loves playing with her dog friends. Because of her shy demeanor, she would do best in a home with adults only, and no children under 13. Indy loves playing with a variety of toys, and especially loves bones, rope toys, and toys with squeakers. She'd love a home with a yard to run around in and continue to explore the world. If you're looking for a sweet, smart, and playful pup, Indy is the one for you! Indy's adoption fee includes a personalized training program.

Story
HIGHLIGHTS:-Needs an adult-only home or with children older than 15-Needs an active family#### Hi, I`m Cash! I`m a 3-year-old male German Shepherd, weighing in at 67 pounds, and I`m looking for my forever home. At first, I can be a bit shy and nervous when entering new places, but once I feel safe, my friendly and curious nature shines through. I stick close to anyone I`ve deemed a friend, and I’m known to be a loyal companion. When I`m near someone I trust, I lean in for support, showing just how much their presence means to me. I’m likely to become your Velcro best friend, always by your side. I can be quite talkative and opinionated, especially when I have something important to say in the kennel. I’m a bit tentative with other dogs at first, but I warm up quickly and soon start to interact and play. I have a bit of a fear of missing out (FOMO), always watching the action around me and wanting to join in, even if I’m a little cautious about it. I love going for daily walks on a leash and would also make a strong hiking buddy, ready to take on adventures with you. Whether I’m the only dog in your home or have a trusted canine friend, I’ll be happy as long as I’m with those I love. If you’re looking for a loyal, protective, and adventurous companion, I might be just the dog for you. Let’s explore the world together and make unforgettable memories! Love, Cash* * * *Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience. Learn about mill dogs and fill out an application at our website.

Hello there! My name is Tay Tay! I am so ready to find my forever home. I am a bit of an adventurous kind of gal. I love exploring and finding out new things about this world. Story
This pup was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2267583##

I like my space and can be a bit nervous when handled too much. But don`t worry, I`m not a troublemaker. I just need a bit of time to trust. I`m an independent girl, but I`d love to share my energy and intelligence with someone like you. Adopt me, and let`s go on life`s adventure together!
