Story
Faye is super sweet and playful once she feels safe. She loves playing with other dogs and also does great receiving dog communication when they set a boundary with her. She is doing really well with potty training and is generally quick to pick up on training especially when she sees the pack showing the way. She loves to play with toys both with other dogs and by herself. She is crate trained and sleeping through the night. She is still a little unsure of all of the noises that neighborhoods can bring but is quickly growing out of that and finding her confidence in the world outside. She is also doing really well on the leash and can go on longer walks with the other pups and does great! ##2270399##

Story
Bill was just pulled from the euthanasia list at ACS in San Antonio. This sweet boy didn't deserve to be there and is one of the lucky ones to get a chance to be a Colorado dog. We can't wait to see this boy flourish outside the stressful shelter environment and Bill is already so loved in his San Antonio foster home doing great on car rides and cuddling on the couch like Netflix and Chill was invented by him.  In the shelter Bill showed sociability by coming over for affection with a wagging tail and tucked ears. He was easy to leash and walk outside where he seemed nervous with tucked ears. He displayed sociability greeting an adult female dog appropriately where both were nervous with tucked tails and tucked ears. Both dogs were able to co-exist, sniff the yard, receive affection from handlers, and easily returned to kennel. A note from Bill's Volunteer Dog Walker! I got to hang out with the sweetest mellow fellow in yellow today! Bill is a little shy at first, but the more love he gets, the more he comes out of his shell! He was a happy boy who didn't make a peep our whole walk! He does fantastic on the leash and never pulled! He loved people bird watching and smelling all the smells on our stroll. He is very gentle when taking treats, and was super calm the whole time we spent together. He also loved getting his back scratched. This sweet and gentle boy runs on love and sunshine! Bill is currently being fostered in San Antonio and needs a committed foster or adopter in Colorado to punch his ticket for the transport heading to Denver, Colorado. Won't you welcome Bill into your heart and home? ##2265187##

Story
Meet Gunner! 1 year, 2 months68 lbs80% German Shepherd, 12% Malamute, + Siberian Husky, Samoyed, 1% ChowNeutered Gunner is a sweet boy who likes to play ball, has loads of energy and enjoys active play. He loves people and bonds quickly. Good with commands. Loves sticks. Gunner: Destroyer of Stuffies but not destructive in the home and trustworthy with free roam. He will do great in a home with no dogs where he can get all the lovin' or with a mellow and submissive sibling because he can be alpha and plays rough.  Gunner has spent most of his life living in a crate but doesn't like the crate as much as a result. He would rather be hanging with you! He will need to be adopted to a home that will limit or forgo the amount of time this boy spends crated. GSDs are not for everyone- they are extremely smart and need a job or mental, as well as physical, stimulation. Gunner will need an adopter who is an active dog owner, meaning they will create time daily for training, mental stimulation and physical exercise. Gunner is being fostered in Colorado Springs. ##2268132##

Story
My name is Dana I am almost two. I was adopted a couple summers ago, but my older sister has started picking fights with me, so my dad wants me to live somewhere safer for me. I am a very smart german shepherd cross. I have learned how to open the back door by myself and to get out of any chain link fence by opening the gate. I need a home where I can fulfill my active lifestyle. I am a very active girl and enjoy running around and wrestling with my siblings. I currently live with my older sister and a dachshund brother. I like to play, and have a rowdy playstyle, so would be best matched with another dog that appreciates that! I am very smart and have learned how to sit and stay. I look forward to meeting you and hoping you can teach me new and wonderful things. If you're interested in meeting me please fill out an application at www.thegooddogrescue.org (If you already have an approved application, please email thegooddogrescueadoptions@gmail.com with your interest in me!) My adoption fee is $300 and I am spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations ##1745197##

Story
I've been sponsored by the Petfinder Kia Grant to help reduce adoption fees. Thanks to the wonderful Petfinder Foundation my adoption fee is only $25.00! Hiya, I'm Finn! I am a 3 year old German Shepherd/Husky mix (best guess). I'm quite the chatterbox. I love to 'talk' to anyone who'll listen. It's my way of saying, 'Hey, let's be friends!' I've got enough energy to keep up with the most active of families, but I'm also a champion snuggler when it's time to wind down. I'm looking for a forever home with someone who loves playtime and cuddles as much as I do. If you need a brave, loyal, and hilarious sidekick, I'm your guy! I do good with other dogs as long as we are properly intoduced. However, I do need a home without cats as I like to chase them. I woul ddo best in a home iwth older children due to my active nature. Did I mention I'm working on training right now? Well I am and I can tell you that I am the best at 'sit' and 'down' that any dog could ever be! Adopt me and I promise you won't regret it. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##1783284##
