Story
Good day!  My name is Marlin (aka Martin) and I'd love to tell you a bit about me!  I'm an older guy (born in May 2017), a mix of german shepherd/canaan breeds, and I've never lived in a proper stable home environment.  I'm quite an energetic dog and my favourite place to be at the shelter is outdoors.  I can be somewhat selective with the dog friends I make, and while I can play nicely with them, I think I'd prefer to be the only resident dog in my forever home.  I need a fair amount of exercise, so will be most pleased with a very active family. As you can see, I am a very smiley, happy boy.  https://youtu.be/Ua0EzZr-qNcAfter being confiscated from a neglectful home, I went to a local shelter when I was around 1 year old. I have been at the shelter since then and it is about time I find a home!  Having never received consistent, dedicated training from humans, I need a fairly experienced handler/owner who knows about & has experience with training. Since I have never lived in a home before, having a yard would be good, so I can acclimate to living inside better, by having plenty of outdoor time, where I feel most comfortable right now. I hope you are willing to give me time to understand a house is a great place to be.I have had basic training: leash walking with a halti, heel, sit, down, bed/place, in addition to exposure to other dogs. Continued training and review of what I know would be good. I'm a smart pupper, so could learn tricks too https://youtu.be/Lr8EJ2Zkc1I. Here I am calm at the vet's office: https://youtu.be/udM_Cc-MOgk. Energy Level: high Fears: unknown/none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition. Training: yes, basic training commands and leash walkingLeash skills: yes. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: No, as I live in a shelter environ. Please be prepared to help me learn! My adoption fee is $700.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##1570722##

THIS IS A COURTESY POST. PLEASE CONTACT THE PERSON OR GROUP LISTED BELOW IN THE POSTING TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE DOG. Please send us a private message or an email if you have serious inquiries and not in comments. Email: woofywishes@gmail.com TORBO (TRIPOD) was rescued from the Middle East and now he is in Vancouver BC and he's looking for his forever home. It is ideal for Torbo to go to a home where he can have a doggie sibling.Torbo - Shepherd mix - 19 kg - 1.5 yr old - Male - Neutered - Good with dogs - Not cat tested, but he will be ok with proper intro - Good with people of all ages - Crate trained - House trained - Playful & loving - Barks to give warning - Not a flight risk - No aggression - Good on leash - Healthy - He was found with a severed leg when he was a puppy on the street, likely for witchcraft purposes.Torbo is the sweetest friendliest and happiest dog ever. His tail is ALWAYS wagging. He is such a people lover! Going on walks he wants everyone to pet him, and he goes up to everyone to say hi on walks, he gets offended if people don’t want to pet him. He loves attention and human kisses. Turbo is also a super well-balanced dog - he can be super playful and also be super chill and calm. He doesn’t bark much, does not have a huge prey drive, able to stay alone for a bit in a crate with a chew toy. He is perfectly potty trained, not a single accident in the house. He sleeps the whole night in his crate with no waking up. He has medium energy and his 3 legs can tire after a walk, so he isn’t exactly the ideal rough terrain hiking buddy. Story
Hello sweet world. I'm Ashe and here is info about me:Breed: Labrador / German Shepherd MixAge: 4 years oldGender: MaleWeight: 56 lbsHeight 24 inchesHighlights: You'll find me a curious pupper, who just likes to see what is going on. Should make training easier, as I want to know what you want from me.Once loved, then dumped, I found myself abandoned by the only family I had ever known. Abandoned for not meeting the standards of being a purebred German Shepherd they thought I was. Isn't that ridiculous? My journey led me to a busy highway here in Lebanon. Shops on the side of the highway saw me and feared for my safety and the safety of the cars getting into an accident. So my rescuers received an urgent call to come get me. They immediately came and rescued me, having to navigate the chaos of the highway to collect me.With gentle hands and soothing words, they picked me up, holding me in their arms. Such a relief that was. As they took me away to safety, my heart was filled with gratitude for the second chance I'd been given. In the days that followed, I found peace in their care. Despite the feelings of abandonment, I began to trust once more, my trust slowly restored with each passing day.I am good with other dogs. Running and playing is a blast. It may be possible I have quite mild hip displaysia or a tad of arthritis, nothing real evident. It doesn't slow me down at all, as you can see in my videos. I play with other dogs well: https://youtube.com/shorts/b3-jv3AmsUU?si=2x5t-LEfzlf2NX14. I'm a friendly guy. Although I can be playful, I can also be calm. So chilling at home is fine by me too. Never had experience with kitty-kind, so unsure of living with one. Likewise, kids have not yet been in my repertoire, though my calmness likely would lend me to doing fine with them. Energy Level: moderate.I get along with:Dogs: YesCats: UnknownKids: Unknown Fears: being bullied by alpha male dogs. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Training: Shelter life schedule - park time - meal time.Leash skills: some. My lovely rescuer took me home and started caring for me.The original name my rescuer gave me in my language means 'hope', as she could only hope for my survival. Now, I am a healthy, happy boy.I am a smart boy, who listens well, so I should learn quickly. I already know how to sit and what no means. I am also happy to be your confidant. Hoping that includes hugs and kisses. If I am an only dog or one of a multi-dog household, it's all good to me. Sadly, they could not save my leg. So now I am a tripaw. My rescuers are having an artificial leg made for me. Gentle and playful is what you will find with me. I still get around pretty good too. In fact, I am a fairly active pup. I get along well with dogs of all sizes, including small ones and even cats (I find them curious.) I find them amusing, but not necessarily all that interesting. I am smart & easily trainable, hey I'm a German Shepard, would you expect anything less? I'm a sweet girl with a faithful and loyal nature. I know you are ready for an awesome girl like me. Story
If you’re looking for a ‘happy all the time friend’, I’m the dog for you!  I’m a 53 pound, 24 inch tall bundle of love. I believe I’m about nine years old and I have been called a desert dog. I’m not really sure what that means, but I think at the very least I might have some shepherd in me. And maybe a couple of other amazing breeds - just not sure which ones! I have been in Canada for 6 years now, so have adapted to the culture quite well. My family renamed me Arthur. They say: I was the star at their wedding and we have camped, hiked, biked and snuggled together. They think I am the best dog ever. You'll notive that I am missing my left eye. That happened when I was a young dog but it doesn't hold me back from being fully active. I'll also add that I'm a healthy guy who has never had any issue requiring veterinary assistance beyond my basic shots. Unfortunately, my family has to find me a new home, as they just brought home a new baby last year and well, maybe I am jealous or maybe she just surprised me with her sudden baby movements, but it is not a good combo. I have snapped, or at least landed with my teeth onto when she fell onto me. So, I need an adult only home. Older teenagers should be fine though. This is what my current family says about me: He is very relaxed and friendly with humans. He loves to cuddle, be petted, and hang out. With our infant daughter, he is actually very very good and patient. It is just when he gets surprised by her that he reacts with his mouth.  He loves to walk but is also very very happy chilling. He is a really relaxed dog and will mostly sleep and hang out indoors, and be so happy and jolly on walks. We used to bike and hike with him lots, but he's older now so mostly just forest walks and city walks. He is not a dog park dog as he doesn't feel good around hyper active dogs. He has great recall and really doesn't wander too far anyways. He's a big people dog. He doesn't beg, bark, or have any issues with training. He knows basic commands and really wants to please his people. He could easily live in an apartment as long as he gets out for a couple of walks each day. You'll see my original info further below. I've always been a sweet, very chill dog and as I've aged I'ved become quite a bit more relaxed and not high energy.  I certainly spent my share of time living on the streets. When my rescuer found me, I was being chased by a group of boys who were throwing stones at me. Why would they do that? One of the rocks hit me in the eye and so it had to be removed. Doesn’t bother me, though. You don’t need two eyes to be able to play and cuddle and love your person! If you are looking for a very loving and lovable dog, then look no further.  Please just click ‘adopt’ below and I'll be ready to give you big hugs! I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is by donation. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website,  http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/  and to read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.
