Story
Cooper is approx 2 years old, male and a mixed breed rescued as a puppy in Mexico. Cooper is well settled into life in Vancouver. He loves dog parks, doggy daycare and being on off leash adventures. A yard would be great for him as he can run for hours. An active owner will be best for Cooper, someone who will take him for outdoor trails and adventures. While cooper is social and friendly with everyone he meets, he is especially fond of women, perhaps because he was rescued and cared for by one. To apply to adopt Cooper please complete the adoption application on our website www.aboutadogrescuesociety.ca You can also find more video and photos of cooper there. Note: We are based in Vancouver and can only facilitate adoptions in our area or surrounding municipalities as part of our requirements is a home visit.

Story
*Currently fostered in Houston Texas, available for out of state adoptions via rescue transportation. Video meet and greet available prior to commitment* This dog is a collaborative effort between Moka's Mission and Houston Chow Chow Connection. Mocha is a fluffy mixed pup just eager to find her new lease in life. She was rescued from a kill shelter in Texas just moments before being euthanized. She is believed to be around 4 years old, and based on behaviors definitely has GSD, Chow Chow, and even possibly husky mixed in her as well. Current weight around 65, 70 lbs. Mocha is a smiling, eager to please, extremely intelligent pup who clearly has been desperate for reaching a potential that was never offered to her prior. She loves to play with toys now, ( was unfamiliar with on arrival) and can be quirky, and vocal during her playful bouts. A game of tug which result in some head pats is her favorite. She also is very smart, and when given attention and motivation is quick to learn. She already knows several basic commands including sit, shake, kennel, wait, settle, and leave it. She is extremely versatile and once she trusts you, will give you her best. If you want to go hiking or exercise, she is all about it. If you want a pup to relax in the home and enjoy a movie day, she is ready! She loves to curl up on the couch or at your feet when it's time to settle down, but when it's time to go she is the first one to be there and ready for you. She also loves to keep you company while you do the most menial house chore's such as laundry or dishes. Mocha clearly was kept away from other dogs and animals when she was owned previously, so we do think she'd be best as an only pup. Proper continued socialization training would be required in order for her to eventually be able to share space with other dogs, but she would need to be socialized as an only dog first before considering adding another in. She clearly has a desire to want to know other dogs and can walk by them and flirt while on leash just fine during walks. However, she hasn't had enough time and proper playmates to engage in playtime at present without being rough. Unfortunately, she is not ok with cats, which is to be expected of the breeds she possesses. Mocha is fully vetted meaning she is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and on monthly prevention for flea, tick, and heartworm. Her adoption fee and transport is dependent on services used. For more information on Mocha, please contact us at MokasMission@Gmail.com, or to apply for adoption please fill out an application here: https://form.jotform.com/41173109602142

Story
Tulee is in a foster home. This is what her foster has to say: Tulee is a sweet, loving dog who settles nicely in the home and likes to lay in your bed with you. She bonds closely with humans and loves to have people around. . We have Tulee on some medications for now that is helping immensely with her separation anxiety!! We are sure that once she is in her permanent home that this behavior will decrease even more after some time for her to decompress. Tulee is one loving and gorgeous middle aged dog who is just waiting for the right person to come along and give her a forever home. Tulee is athletic, smart, funny, playful, and loyal. She's affectionate, friendly, and curious, and she's especially good at making new human friends. She'll make you laugh with her playful antics, and you'll love how she always wants to be by your side. She's a very intelligent dog and is treat-motivated, which makes her easy to train. She loves food and will happily do tricks for a treat. Tulee is good with some other dogs and is ok for having some doggy friends but she wouldn't like to live with another dog. She has a high prey drive and isn't good with cats or small critters. She would do best in a home without other small animals. Tulee can be anxious so she needs an experienced owner who can provide her with the training and exercise she needs. She would love an active family or person who can take her on long walks and adventures. Tulee is a great dog and is sure to bring lots of love and joy to her new home. Story
**Available after January 2nd 2025** Ellie is an affectionate, intelligent female dog that is approximately eight years old. This gorgeous girl enjoys cuddles, playing with toys, and having a good run around. Ellie is excellent at going for walks on a leash and has all the basic commands mastered - she knows how to sit, shake-a-paw, lay down, and stay. We think that Ellie may be a lab shepherd cross. She was found tied to a tree in a local park, so not much is known about her past. However, it is clear that she was well taken care of and is well-trained. She is a respectful dog who is friendly with humans and ignores most other dogs. We have seen some reactivity towards other female dogs, and she does have a tendency to want to jump up on the people she likes - so a little more training would be beneficial. -------------------------------------------------------------------- At City of Vancouver Animal Services, we have a foster-to-adopt program whereby prospective new owners foster the adoptable animal for 21 days before committing to adoption. Story
**Available after January 2nd, 2025** Uma is a beautiful dog with lots of love to give! She is a very affectionate and brave dog who is always curious about the world around her. She is friendly to everyone she meets and loves to play and receive pets. Uma is very smart and protective of her loved ones. She enjoys being the center of attention and having a good time. Uma has so much love to give and is a very healthy dog for her age. She would be the perfect companion for someone looking for an independent, yet loving dog. Please take note, Uma is not good with other female dogs. She would prefer to be the only dog in the household. She has shown some resource guarding with high value food items so her new home should be capable of managing and working on that with her. Uma was a free roaming dog prior to her coming to the shelter. Other Dogs: Well matched, males preferred Cats: Unknown Kids: Yes but older 15+ Apartment: No Walks: Loves them! Story
Good day!  My name is Marlin (aka Martin) and I'd love to tell you a bit about me!  I'm an older guy (born in May 2007), a mix of german shepherd/canaan breeds, and I've never lived in a proper stable home environment.  I'm quite an energetic dog and my favourite place to be at the shelter is outdoors.  I can be somewhat selective with the dog friends I make, and while I can play nicely with them, I think I'd prefer to be the only resident dog in my forever home.  I need a fair amount of exercise, so will be most pleased with a very active family. As you can see, I am a very smiley, happy boy.  https://youtu.be/Ua0EzZr-qNcAfter being confiscated from a neglectful home, I went to a local shelter when I was around 1 year old. I have been at the shelter since then and it is about time I find a home!  Having never received consistent, dedicated training from humans, I need a fairly experienced handler/owner who knows about & has experience with training. Since I have never lived in a home before, having a yard would be good, so I can acclimate to living inside better, by having plenty of outdoor time, where I feel most comfortable right now. I hope you are willing to give me time to understand a house is a great place to be.I have had basic training: leash walking with a halti, heel, sit, down, bed/place, in addition to exposure to other dogs. Continued training and review of what I know would be good. I'm a smart pupper, so could learn tricks too https://youtu.be/Lr8EJ2Zkc1I. Here I am calm at the vet's office: https://youtu.be/udM_Cc-MOgk. Energy Level: high Fears: unknown/none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition. Training: yes, basic training commands and leash walkingLeash skills: yes. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: No, as I live in a shelter environ. Please be prepared to help me learn! My adoption fee is $700.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##1570722##
