Meet Big Smoke: Your Future Best Friend!Age: 9 years and 7 monthsBreed: MixedWeight: Currently working on it!Big Smoke is a joyful, easygoing pup looking for a loving home to spend his golden years. This happy-go-lucky boy is ready to fill your life with laughter and companionship. While he's not overly interested in other dogs, he's not a fan of unfixed males, so a home with the right canine friends or as your one-and-only would be perfect!Big Smoke could use a little help shedding some extra pounds, but with the right diet and a few leisurely walks, he's bound to thrive! His ideal home is one filled with love, patience, and the occasional treat (just a few, though!).Big Smoke's mortal enemy is the "V" "E" "T" (shhh, he might hear us talking) but luckily he just had a senior wellness exam, including bloodwork, and hopefully won't need to go back anytime soon as our vets gave him a clean bill of health! If you're looking for a loyal companion who will bring joy and warmth to your life, Big Smoke is your guy! Come meet him and see if you're the perfect match! 🐾❤️Thank you for your interest in adopting! Do you think you could be Big Smoke's person? Story
Meet Jax! Jax is a thin, noodley, wild, jumpy, giant puppy that will bring you so much entertainment and laughter. Jax has spent most of his life in isolation and will need a patient adopter who will be able to build his confidence out in this big new world. For all the love and compassion you give him, this giant goofball will give it back ten fold.Jax was on a refeeding plan when he was originally brought into our care due to how thin he was, but we have successfully completed 2 weeks of refeeding and he is eating normal amounts and treats now (which he is very excited about). Jax is still too thin to be neutered, so he is available to go foster-to-adopt until he has been cleared by our vets. Jax's ideal home is one without other animals. He will chase cats, and although he is very eager to meet other dogs, he can be a bit much to share a space with. Jax is also showing signs of separation anxiety and will need an adopter that can use Animal Kind training methods to improve this behaviour. Jax is somewhat crate trained and we are hoping to continue working on it with him as this could be an essential tool to integrating him into a home. Thank you for your interest in adopting! Do you think you could be Jax's person? Apply today!TIP: We strongly suggest all applicants to write a little bit about themselves when prompted.https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/The Victoria Center is open for in-person adoption viewings Tuesday through Sunday, 12pm to 4pm, staff and animal well-being permitting. Some animals may not be available for public viewing due to limited shelter space, medical and behavioral reasons, or other contributing factors. Story
Sweet Keisha is looking for a home. She is 40 lb shepherd x lab with a kind and brave soul, who just melts into the arms of those kind enough to give her affection. Keisha was found in Puerto Vallarta, skinny and hungry, trying to care for and protect her litter of 6 puppies. She had dug a small hole to hide them as she stood over them, chained up, until thankfully the angels of the SPCA PV came to rescue them. After her rescue, they learned that Keisha was also blind, they believe from poisoning. Keisha's pups all inherited her kind soul and affection for humans. And we hope that Keisha herself will find her own happiness. Naturally because she can't see, she enjoys sniffari walks, to take in the world around her, and would love a safe property to explore her world in between cuddles with a family that this time would love her. If you think you may be able to give Keisha a home, we'd love to hear from you at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com. You can also go directly to our application here: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw
