Story
Meet Alta! Alta is a 5 year old German Shepherd, searching for her forever home.Alta is a friendly, confident, and independent dog. She loves to be outside for walks and play, but is also happy to hang out inside and do some snugglin'. She is a very social girl, but she is comfortable enjoying her own company as well. Alta loves to go for long walks, where she can show off her excellent leash training skills. She LOVES playing with other dogs, and will play until she drops. When she first came to us, she was lacking many basic skills like leash training and basic commands, but in just a couple short months, she has mastered them! She is mostly house trained, but may have an accident inside if she doesn't get an opportunity to go outside for a while. As a very active and athletic breed, German Shepherds requires lots of exercise for his physical and mental well-being. A dog who is not exercised enough will become frustrated and likely to develop undesirable behaviors. For grooming, GSDs usually requiring just a quick brushing every few days or so to help remove loose hairs, but they do shed more profusely once or twice a year. When Alta came to us, she had severe ruptured mastitis, leaving her with massive open wounds. It took a while, but she has healed extremely well, and is now a very healthy dog. She is currently on anxiety medication to reduce her stress in shelter, however, once she adjusts to a new home, she could taper off this medication under veterinary supervision. In Alta's ideal home, she would have a structured routine and lots of exercise. She would be best suited for a home with a family, so she could have lots of company. Alta would love a home with one or more other dogs, given a proper introduction and compatibility. She can be jumpy, so older, dog savvy kids would be a better fit than small children. If you think Alta could be a good fit for you, please fill out an application below.https://spca.bc.ca/survey/dog-adoption-application-kamloops/ Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 34.9 Age: 4yrs 10mths 0wks

Story
We are on the search for a very special home for Nelly, one with either a calm mellow dog or no dog as she should be exercise restricted and a laid back home. Sweet Nelly wasn't dealt the best cards with her health but we are determined to give her the very best life she can have. Nelly is an affectionate and energetic German Shepherd mix, about 18 months old. Despite her young age, she's already making great strides in learning how to interact with other dogs and respecting their cues when she becomes too excited. As a baby, Nelly is still working on sharing her toys, crate, food bowl, and backyard space with the birds. She's naturally curious and may bark at unfamiliar people or things as she gets used to new experiences. She is house trained and crate trained! She has an endearing tendency to tattle on her foster brother if he misbehaves, barking at him and gently nibbling on his ears. Despite her active nature, she can only sustain play for short periods due to her heart condition. She would love home without another dog, or a dog that will be calm and not play much with her. She also needs a home without any young children Here are some of Nelly's nicknames and her likes and dislikes: **Nicknames:** - Nells Bells - Nelly Fertado - Ms. Fertado - Smelly Nelly - Neller - Nelly Nibbles - Noisy Nelly - Woah Nelly **Likes:** - Chewing on bones - Playing - Being chased - Pets from her humans - Being outside - Squeaky balls - CUDDLES **Dislikes:** - The vacuum (she barks at it and sometimes tries to "chomp" it) - Sharing her items - When other dogs bother her in her crate - Cats Nelly is a lovable and lively German Shepherd mix who's eager to find her forever home. With her friendly demeanor, she's sure to bring joy and excitement to any family. If you're looking for an energetic pup who's making great progress in her training and ready to share lots of affection, Nelly could be the perfect addition to your home. If you think Nelly is a good fit for your family, don't wait—apply today to give this sweet puppy the loving home she deserves! Nelly was recently diagnosed with Severe Aortic Stenosis as well as a severely damaged valve in her heart. Aortic Stenosis is a narrowing of the aortic value, which is the gateway between the heart's main chamber and the main artery that pushes blood out to the rest of the body. This narrowing causes the heart to have to work harder to push blood out to the rest of the body. It is a genetic and hereditary condition that she was born with, and sadly does not come with the greatest long term prognosis. As the disease progresses, she could experience lethargy, exercise intolerance, difficulty breathing, coughing, collapse, and sadly even Sudden death.

Sweet, happy and loving! Meet Fancy, a 9 month old Shepherd cross. Miss Fancy Pants isn't large at only 30lbs but she loves large and after you've met her, you'll wonder how you ever lived without her! 😍😍😍 Big or small, Fancy loves other dogs and gets along well with everyone she meets. Kids are no exception....she adores children of any age. She's good with cats and likes to gently chase her feline friends. She always has the best of intentions and definitely no aggression towards her cat friends. ☺️ Fancy is great on leash and will stick close to you when out on a walk. She's great in her crate and settles immediately. Fancy is fully potty trained and knows to do her business outside. Maybe her name should be changed to "Impressive"! 🤩 Being a puppy still, this girl would love lots of outside time playing and burning off her bouncy energy. A doggy companion would be amazing! While Fancy doesn't snuggle much, she eats up attention and loves belly rubs, as much as you'll dish out. She loves her toys and after a busy day of playing, Fancy would love to chill on the couch with a toy to chew on. Fancy is easygoing and laidback and the perfect companion for any family looking for a new best friend. Willing to please is the name of the game for Fancy....she wants to make you happy any way she can. If you're looking for a dog who's got it all, apply today to meet Fancy! 💗

Story
Meet Harlowe! This stunning 9 month old mixed breed girl came with her brother and sister, Mogali and Wren. They are a mix of large breeds (husky, Elkhound, maybe some German shepherd). Harlowe is exceptionally intelligent! 🤓🧠 Her foster says she's the easiest to train dog she's ever had; she quick as a whip and learns tricks and commands after only a few tries. She's not too smart for her own good, though. Harlowe loves lounging around and playing with toys. She's not the type to get destructive or needy when she gets bored. What does Harlowe love? 🌊 Water 🐾 Fetch 🤗 Cuddles 🏞️ Outdoor adventures She gets along well with her foster brother and loves to play with him, but sometimes tries to boss him around. Harlowe hasn't been tested around cats. Harlowe is: House trained ✅ Crate trained✅ And she knows basic commands (sit, stay, come, wait, in your crate, etc) ✅ Harlowe is going to make someone a very happy pawrent! She's going to be the perfect adventure partner. Could it be you? Let's try to find Harlowe her forever home!
