Story
Sweet Keisha is looking for a home. She is 40 lb shepherd x lab with a kind and brave soul, who just melts into the arms of those kind enough to give her affection. Keisha was found in Puerto Vallarta, skinny and hungry, trying to care for and protect her litter of 6 puppies. She had dug a small hole to hide them as she stood over them, chained up, until thankfully the angels of the SPCA PV came to rescue them. After her rescue, they learned that Keisha was also blind, they believe from poisoning. Keisha's pups all inherited her kind soul and affection for humans. And we hope that Keisha herself will find her own happiness. Naturally because she can't see, she enjoys sniffari walks, to take in the world around her, and would love a safe property to explore her world in between cuddles with a family that this time would love her. If you think you may be able to give Keisha a home, we'd love to hear from you at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com. You can also go directly to our application here: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw

Meet Big Smoke: Your Future Best Friend!Age: 9 years and 7 monthsBreed: MixedWeight: Currently working on it!Big Smoke is a joyful, easygoing pup looking for a loving home to spend his golden years. His ideal home is one filled with love, patience, and the occasional treat (just a few, though!).Big Smoke's mortal enemy is the "V" "E" "T" (shhh, he might hear us talking) but luckily he just had a senior wellness exam, including bloodwork, and hopefully won't need to go back anytime soon as our vets gave him a clean bill of health! If you're looking for a loyal companion who will bring joy and warmth to your life, Big Smoke is your guy! Story
Meet Harlow!Harlow arrived in our care as a stray, and she is now searching for her forever home. She is a sweet but timid dog who will need patience and understanding to help her feel safe and comfortable. With her favorite people, Harlow is affectionate and loves getting pets and scratches. Once she has expended her energy, she would be a great buddy to relax and curl up on the couch with.Harlow is a very smart girl who loves her treats, so continued training would be a wonderful bonding experience! She can be unsure of new environments and may require some time to adjust. While she is getting used to her new space and family, Harlow's ideal home would have a safe and secure yard for her to enjoy, as she loves being outdoors. Once she has adjusted to her new life, Harlow would love to join her people on outdoor adventures.Harlow has recovered from a previous injury and is looking for a family that can help monitor and manage it to ensure she stays comfortable. Due to her shyness, she would do best in a home with older, dog-savvy children or adults only. While Harlow may do best as the only dog in the home, she could potentially make canine friends outside the house with the right introductions. With patience, she may also be open to having a feline friend. If you're looking for a gentle and loyal companion, Harlow might just be the perfect match!Do you think you could be Harlow's person? Here are some ways to find out:1.) Visit our centre to meet this pet during adoption viewings Friday to Wednesday noon to 3pm, learn more about their ideal match, and apply to adopt in person; or2.) Submit an online application adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit! Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions an online applicant would have to be available to come in for a meet within 24 hrs. Story
Meet Rilia!Rilia is an energetic girl who's ready to find her forever home. She loves being around her people and is always eager for pets and attention. With lots of energy to burn, Rilia is looking for an active family that can take her on exciting adventures and long walks. She's playful and enjoys a good game of fetch, but can be a bit jumpy when she's excited. With some training, she'll learn to express her enthusiasm in other ways, and ongoing training will help keep her mind stimulated and tire her out. Rilia came into our care with her brother, but she would thrive as the only dog in the home since she prefers to keep her toys all to herself. However, with proper introductions, she may be able to make doggy friends outside of the house. If you're looking for a fun, energetic companion, Rilia might be the perfect match for you! 🐾🛥️🌊Do you think you could be Rilia's person? Here are some ways to find out:1.) Story
*Currently fostered in Houston Texas, available for out of state adoptions via rescue transportation. Video meet and greet available prior to commitment* This dog is a collaborative effort between Moka's Mission and Houston Chow Chow Connection. Mocha is a fluffy mixed pup just eager to find her new lease in life. She was rescued from a kill shelter in Texas just moments before being euthanized. She is believed to be around 4 years old, and based on behaviors definitely has GSD, Chow Chow, and even possibly husky mixed in her as well. Current weight around 65, 70 lbs. Mocha is a smiling, eager to please, extremely intelligent pup who clearly has been desperate for reaching a potential that was never offered to her prior. She loves to play with toys now, ( was unfamiliar with on arrival) and can be quirky, and vocal during her playful bouts. A game of tug which result in some head pats is her favorite. She also is very smart, and when given attention and motivation is quick to learn. She already knows several basic commands including sit, shake, kennel, wait, settle, and leave it. She is extremely versatile and once she trusts you, will give you her best. If you want to go hiking or exercise, she is all about it. If you want a pup to relax in the home and enjoy a movie day, she is ready! She loves to curl up on the couch or at your feet when it's time to settle down, but when it's time to go she is the first one to be there and ready for you. She also loves to keep you company while you do the most menial house chore's such as laundry or dishes. Mocha clearly was kept away from other dogs and animals when she was owned previously, so we do think she'd be best as an only pup. Proper continued socialization training would be required in order for her to eventually be able to share space with other dogs, but she would need to be socialized as an only dog first before considering adding another in. She clearly has a desire to want to know other dogs and can walk by them and flirt while on leash just fine during walks. However, she hasn't had enough time and proper playmates to engage in playtime at present without being rough. Unfortunately, she is not ok with cats, which is to be expected of the breeds she possesses. Mocha is fully vetted meaning she is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and on monthly prevention for flea, tick, and heartworm. Her adoption fee and transport is dependent on services used. For more information on Mocha, please contact us at MokasMission@Gmail.com, or to apply for adoption please fill out an application here: https://form.jotform.com/41173109602142
