Story
Courtesy Post  Name: Frankie Breed: French Bulldog Weight: 32 pounds Gender: Male Spayed/neutered: Neutered Age: 7 years (DOB Aug.14/17) Reason for Rehoming: Owner is working very long hours and due to Frankie's allergies, vetting and raw food are becoming out of financial reach  Up to Date with Vetting: May be due for some vaccines.  Last seen June/24. Good with dogs: Yes.  He has interacted with cousins' Black Lab, Shih Tzu, and Cocker Spaniel.  Playful if they are receptive and respectful if they are not.  He greets other dogs well on leash.  He occasionally goes to the dog park and meets and greets other dogs there. Good with cats: Unknown Good with kids: Yes.  He has interacted with 1 and 3 year old nephews and is good with them.   Good with strangers: Yes.  If a stranger visits he does not bark.  He is friendly and goes up to greet them and asks for belly rubs. Resource guarding issues: Not from people.  Unknown from other animals. Ever bitten a human: No Ever bitten a dog: No Fears: Nail trims Housetrained: Yes.  Crate trained: The crate was left set up and open for the first 2 years and Frankie would sleep there overnight.  He stopped using the crate after that and prefers to sleep on his bed. Good in the car: Yes.  Loves car rides. Bark when left alone: No.  He is left alone from approximately 7:30 am to 6 pm right now in their apartment.  Neighbours say he occasionally alerts by barking at noises in the hall. Destructive: No Energy Level: Medium Leash skills: He is a big puller.  He pulls to go smell things.  He is not reactive to people/dogs/vehicles on walks.  He politely greets other dogs who are interested in greeting him. Okay with physical handling/manipulations: His owner bathes him weekly due to Frankie's allergies.  He does not enjoy having his nails done but wears them down on walks. Known commands: sit, down, paw, spin, come, stay Food on now: Limited diet due to skin allergies.  Big Country Raw duck, beef, pork, and salmon rotated.  Fed 2x/day.  5.5 oz raw plus 2 oz pumpkin puree.  They avoid turkey and chicken due to his allergies.  They only feed him fruits/veggies in addition to the raw. Behavioural issues: He will not walk in cold weather.  Frankie would love an adopter who had a fenced yard for quick trips outside Medical issues: Allergy testing confirms environmental allergies.  1/2 Apoquel pill daily to control his allergies.  He did not cope well with Cytopoint injections.  Raw diet to help control his allergies.   Frankie has an instant love for everyone he meets, whether it’s people or other dogs. He’s eager to play with anyone but respects boundaries, if a dog barks at him or doesn’t want to play, he simply walks away. On the other hand, if a person is willing to pet or play with him, he won’t leave their side. During the day, if someone is around, Frankie becomes their loyal shadow, following them from room to room. He loves being by your side and will sit contentedly for hours as long as he has his bed and a sunny spot. An adoptive home where someone is home more often than not would be preferred for Frankie. Frankie does not enjoy walking in the winter weather so exercising him in a small living space can be a challenge.  His ideal home would be a house with a fenced yard. Frankie has struggled with a persistent rash on his stomach and severe itching ever since he was a puppy.  He was seen by a number of veterinarians and the conclusion was that he suffers from environmental allergies.  While managing Frankie’s allergies has been a challenge, the combination of daily Apoquel, a raw diet, and consistent care, such as regular baths, has helped keep his symptoms as manageable as possible.  His adopter must be willing to continue this level of care. Frankie has some quirky habits: he snorts, burps, farts, and snores loudly. When he’s especially happy, excited to see you, or being petted, he snorts and even purrs like a cat, which is absolutely adorable.  He's quite the character! January 28, 2025, 11:55 am

Story
All about me Hi friends! I am a 2 year old French bulldog boy who is affectionate and crate-trained. I got rescued just before euthanasia and is now given an opportunity to live a second life! I call myself a social butterfly as I easily get along with strangers and I am not so shy about showing it! I will approach, wag my tail, and ask for a belly rub. Although I get along well with strangers, I am not overly interested in making new furry friends. I mean, I will still say hi to them but not necessarily play with them. I mean, I rather spend my time with people. If another furry friend tries to pick a fight with me, I will walk away. I also get overwhelmed with friends that are too energetic. I can take my potty break both outside and inside. When I visit new places, there is a chance that I may start marking. I like to go out for walk but I may still need a bit of more training to become a pro. I may pull on the leash but I will try my best to follow you. After my outdoor activities, I like to relax quietly on my own. I do not guard my food against any people or furry friends. When I meet cats, I will look at them only because I get curious, but I rather stay with my people as I respect them. Oh, did you know that I am also very smart? I got my basic training done in only 3 days! I can understand "sit" and "wait." I am usually not really a barker, but when I see people, I may bark. I currently do not have any separation anxiety, but I need more time to find out whether it is going to get developed or not. Overall, I am a lovable boy looking for my forever home. If you are looking for a clever friend who is loyal and affectionate, I am confident that I will be the perfect one for you! Please contact my team for details. Story
Penny | French Bulldog | 3.5 years | Female *We cannot guarantee breed nor age. Temperament: Sweet, high energy, incredibly intelligent. Activity Level: Medium-High energy. Vetting: Vaccinated (DH2PP, Rabies), spayed, microchipped, dewormed, on flea/tick/heartworm prevention year-round. Penny is on Fluoxetine and Gabapentin which has helped significantly. She also has allergies to turkey, chicken, duck and lamb (developed a significant rash on her belly). She had a small reaction to fish (very tiny rash) so we have been avoiding that protein as well. So far she seems ok with beef, kangaroo and pork. Due to the breed's susceptibility to health issues, a home with knowledge around French Bulldog’s common issues is essential. Pet insurance is a must! Future owners should take precautions to avoid overheating, limit stress and seek immediate medical attention if she experiences respiratory distress. Housebroken: Yes. Good with Dogs: Penny is fantastic with dogs when out and about but can be protective and territorial at home. She may show resource guarding behaviour towards other dogs indoors, so a single-pet household is necessary. It’s important to note that all introductions to new dogs should be done in a careful and controlled manner. Good with Cats: No. Good with Children: No. Prey Drive: Yes. Response to outdoors: Penny adores walks, hiking and swimming, and she’s always curious about the world around her. She’s the perfect adventure buddy! Crate-Trained: Yes. Resource Guarding: Penny resource guards with other dogs but not with humans. Response to Commands: She knows sit, stay, heel and fetch. She has been working hard in a board and train with the amazing Dog Hero to learn more fantastic skills. Are they vocal: Not overly barky but she loves to express herself with grumbles and grunts. She will, however, alarm bark at knocks and doorbells. Leash Etiquette: Penny is an excellent walker both on and off-leash, with solidly developing recall and a penchant for stopping to sniff around. Transportation: Penny loves car rides and is always up for an adventure! Introducing the charming Penny! Penny is a slow burn of love. It is very important to note, however, she will be very apprehensive at first. In fact, for the first three weeks in foster care, she had to be kept leashed at all times as she wouldn’t allow us to put a leash on her collar without screaming. She has some issues around physical handling and needs trust with her handlers to be built slowly and patiently. After some time getting to know us, she did eventually relax and we are now able to do whatever we need for her for the most part. Once she gets over her initial fears and inhibitions, Penny is a real treat! Penny can be a snuggly sweetheart who adores affection and belly rubs. However, again, it’s important to take this kind of affection very slowly with her until she feels fully at ease. She loves to start her day with playful energy, and if you’re going on an adventure, she wants to be right there beside you! Whether it’s hiking, swimming or just lounging around, Penny is your loyal companion, ready to jump into any family activity. With her playful spirit, Penny will keep you entertained with her antics. She’s known for her joyful flips when excited and her adorable baby dragon that she snuggles with at night. Her quirky sideways glances and delightful sounds will have you laughing in no time! Shaun from Dog Hero, who has been fostering and working with Penny, will provide guidance on how to set Penny up for success and continue her impressive development.
