Story
Available for Adoption!🐷 After 2 failed homes, Pugs has been enjoying his life with his foster over the last few weeks; meeting so many new people and K9 friends! We are hopeful that Pugsley's forever family is out there, that wont give up on him and enjoy all the adventures with this boy by their side! We do think Pugsley would thrive in a home with another dog as he LOVES to play with dogs and takes direction very well from them! NAME: Pugsley LOCATION: Burlington, Ontario BREED: Mixed (Mom was a Frenchie Terrier Mix) GENDER: Male AGE: 1 (SEPT 1 2023) WEIGHT: 45LB SPAYED/NEUTERED: Yes MEDICAL ISSUES: None MICROCHIPPED: Yes KNOWN COMMANDS: Sit, Stay, No, Down, Place, Crate, Break, Good, Left, Right, Ball, Leave It, Gentle, Slow Down (or whooh), Stop, Come, Ouch, Pugs-love, He has room for improvement on the release of a ball. He will play tug-o-war instead. Showing disinterest at this game, will get Pugs to put the ball in your hand. Observations from Foster: Pugsley is a social and energetic boy. Who plays well with other dogs, people and toys. He enjoys long walks, free run time, fetch, and tug-o-war. The high-pray in Mr. Pugs can get his attention quickly. Reminders to “leave it”, can keep him engaged on a daily walk, or playing outside. Pugsley has room for improvement when it comes to squirrels. He still wants to chase them. Pugsley has progressed farther with leaving cats alone. A reminder to “leave it” with a leash tug works effectively. Daily walks are a highlight, Pugsley looks forward to in the morning and evening. Before or after breakfast, he will be patient. He is house trained but will get vocal when he needs to go! Ignoring Pugsley’s politeness, resorts him to putting his mouth on your wrist with a slight tug to direct you. He responds to “Gentle”, “No” or “Ouch”. Pugsley is currently learning “Wait”. The extensive training our precious boy has undergone, has paid off well. He knows after his last pee for the night he goes straight to his crate. He will also enter upon command. He will stay overnight and during the work day. He has been gaining trust to be left unattended and un-crated during the workday, in his “place”. Pugsley transitions well between these spaces. He may let out a few attempts to get attention but settles in comfortably and quickly. PERSONAL EXPERIENCE: Pugsley is truly a good boy. Like many dogs, is in tune with the people and their behaviors. When I twisted my ankle and had a slight sprain, Pugs took it upon himself to make his back a stool for my knee when standing with crutches. And nudging my foot up on its pillow prop when he saw me getting restless and putting my foot on the floor. My favorite parts of Pugsley’s day are in the morning, and before crate to go to sleep. When he is greeted in the morning, he is happy for anything. Food, bathroom, or simply attention. At night pretty much the same thing. I personally love his response when you sit in a chair and ask for “pugs-love”. He will rub against your legs and receive scratches and rubs and kisses with the utmost appreciation. Nuzzling and leaning into your chest is highly probable. As long as your engaged, he can wait for food, bathroom, even a morning walk. Pugsley would thrive around other dogs. With a little more training and maturity Pugsley has high potential for being a helpful elder amongst other animals. Currently, he is training a pup half his age to “not dig” and “no eating the garden”. These are the rules of a community area, Pugsley is enforcing on his friend from the community. He is gentle as he pulls the other dogs away from bad behavior. Once Pugsley knows the boundaries, he is very good at equal implementation. Pugsley’s Observed Needs: Stimulation! An active family, other dogs, or a lot of room to run and sticks to chew. In his short time, Pugs has had a few temporary homes. He has had to say goodbye to many hoomans and K-9’s. This fine young man is truly deserving of a forever home with loving parents. He has lots of love and life to be shared.
