Story
Hi, my name is Mable, I am from Alabama. From her foster: Mable is a shy girl initially, she takes some time to warm up to new people. Once she gets to know you she turns into absolute sweetheart! This girl does have a voice and she isn’t afraid to use it when she wants something. While not too fond of snuggling in your lap she does like to be close to the person she trusts. She is a very curious girl! She’s been good with dogs, cats and other small animals with proper slow introductions. Mable has been great with kids over 5 in my home. She is still working on refreshing potty training skills but doing well on a routine. Her favorite time is every time she sees the leash! Mable really enjoys her walks outside and investigating all the smells. She does know some basic commands but can be a bit stubborn to work for free, treats please! Mable might benefit from having another doggie friend in the home as she seems much more confident with a companion. A small relaxing space to heal and recover. Mable would do best in a home that can give her time and patience. A home with older or considerate children would be best as she seems to get nervous around loud, fast or sudden movements. She is on daily medications and will have some ongoing appointments for heart worm and a leg injury. From the vet team: I arrived at The Bond Between with a prior leg and tail injury. This was evaulated by an orthopedic surgeon and determined it has healed. I also am being treated for heartworm disease and will need to be on monthly heartworm prevention for the rest of my life. I can be adopted while my leg heals and my heartworm treatment is being complete and the heartworm treatment and recheck x-rays will be covered by The Bond Between as long as they are completed at The BB Vet Center.

Story
This is a beautiful white male 4-year old Purebred (no papers) French Bulldog. He was raised in an apartment environment by a loving couple for his entire life. He is very well trained. He was alone so much, they wanted a better life for him. I am retired, have a fenced yard and was looking for a dog who would benefit from being outside with me in the summer. I love him, but he is not good with my young grandchildren. I don’t know how he is with other dogs. I’m looking for someone who has a fenced yard, can be with him both day and night, patience, and love him for the rest of his life. He desires a loving home. As with all Frenchies, he has skin allergies and periodic ear infections.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Meet Scout! This adorable one-year-old Frenchie is on the lookout for his forever family! Despite being born with spina bifida, Scout doesn't let it slow him down. While he may need to wear a diaper and suspenders due to lack of control over his urine and bowls, his ability to stand up makes diapering a breeze. He is able to express his bladder and bowel himself and does not require and assistance in that realm - just changing his diaper. Frankly, not having to go outside in bad weather is a plus, and there is nothing to pickup in your backyard! Because of this, Scout cannot go 8+ hours a day without diaper changes, so he does require someone who works from home, or can stop home to help change his diapers to avoid infection and chaffing. Scout is full of personality, with plenty of opinions to share. He's a playful pup who never seems to tire out, often leaving his friends wondering how he keeps up the energy. When playtime winds down, Scout isn't one to rest for long; he'll grab a toy and entertain himself by tossing it around with gusto. Scout is eager to find a loving home where he can continue spreading joy and laughter with his playful antics. Due to his energetic ways, not all dogs appreciate his play He has doggie friends, who enjoy playing like him, but it is not preferred by all. Scout can't wait to start a basic obedience class with you to keep learning and to make up for lost socialization when he was a younger pup. Scout has not met any kids, but is ok with dog-savvy cats.  He is crate and leash trained, so does not require a fenced in yard.  Scout is looking for a special home, but we know it is out there Scout is an incredibly sweet boy who loves life and not all he needs is YOU…a patient, unconditionally loving fur-ever family that will NEVER give up on him. Sure, he may be a bit higher maintenance than others, but his heart is enormous and it’s overflowing with love that he wants to share with an amazing family. If you will welcome him into your world, he promises you that not only will he show off his excited bouncy dance, but he will make you the center of his universe!!  Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.  Bulldogs are a member of the Brachycephalic breed and therefore have a host of health issues that may arise.  Because these dogs are new into our rescue, health issues in the future may arise that we are not aware of.  Some of these issues are allergies, eye issues, yeast infections, interdigital cysts, slipped disks in their back, breathing problems, among a host of others that can occur at any time or when seasons change. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure the breed is a good fit for you and your family.  It is estimated that the average bulldog owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs.  Bulldogs are one of the most expensive dogs to own, maintain, and rescue and our adoption fees reflect such expenses.  The application process for bulldogs usually moves quite quickly as they are a popular breed, so we ask that adopters do research and be prepared for adoption at the time you submit your application.  They are happy, goofy, playful characters and we are excited you are taking the first steps into rescuing one!   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi there, I’m Laverne, but you can call me Vernie! I’m a confident little French bulldog who’s always ready to brighten your day. At 3 years old and 20 pounds of pure joy, I bring equal parts charm and spunk to every room. My favorite thing? Being your copilot on adventures! Whether it’s a car ride, a walk, or just hanging out with new friends, I’m your girl. Seriously, I’m a total social butterfly—I can’t resist introducing myself to every person I meet. At home, I’m a perfect balance of playful and chill. I love zoomies in the yard, plush toys, and cuddling on the couch when I get the chance. At night, I sleep peacefully in my kennel, but during the day, I want to be wherever you are. I’m potty-trained, crate-trained, and I even know commands like “sit,” “come,” “kennel,” and “go potty.” Told you I’m smart! Now, I’ll be honest, I do have some GI issues. It just means I’m a fancy gal who sticks to her prescription probiotic and special food (it’s worth it—I’m worth it!). I also take a couple of meds to manage my tummy troubles. But don’t worry—I’m super easy to care for, and I never let it slow me down. See more details below about my issue and treatment. I get along great with other dogs, especially big ones, and I’d love a fenced yard for my potty breaks and zoomie sessions. Older kids are cool too, since I get a little bouncy when I’m excited. Here’s the thing: I’m not just cute; I’m endlessly sweet, loyal, and ready to be your shadow. Bonus? I do the cutest yoga pose where I stretch out and kick my right leg in the air. Trust me, it’ll melt your heart! If you’re looking for a playful, loving best friend who’ll make you laugh and keep you company, I’m your girl. Let’s make memories together! Love, Laverne Note, Laverne was diagnosed with Histiocytic ulcerative colitis and is on Baytril for this.  She may need this med lifelong. She also has Moderate lymhoplasmacytic and histiocytic chornic and active enteritis. This is essentially IBS of the small intestine.  She is on a steroid, Budesonide, and may need this lifelong.  She takes a probiotic, Visobime, and eats a prescription diet from the vet. Because this food has some allergens, Laverne displays allergies on her paws and ears. A cytopoint injection helps with this. Down the road, it may be recommended to try a less allergen diet and see if her Colitis/IBS can handle that change.  On this regime, Laverne is flourishing, gaining back lost weight, and a happy girl! *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hello future family! My name is Winston, and I am a handsome guy with big, soulful brown eyes and the kind of eyelashes that make everyone swoon. I mean, if I had a dollar for every compliment on them, I’d be living in a mansion by now... but instead, I’m just looking for a forever home full of love! I’m a total love bug. My idea of a good time? Cuddling on the couch and lounging with my people. When I’m at home, I’m pretty mellow — I love to relax and take it easy with my humans, but I’m also ready for action if you bring out a bone or decide it’s belly rub time (my absolute favorite). I can be a bit of a stuffed toy destroyer though, so if you give me one, you’ll want to supervise me. I get carried away, and let’s be real, those squeaky things are just too fun to resist. When nobody’s looking, I may try to gobble up the remnants, but hey, I’m just a dog with big ambitions! Oh, and full disclosure — I’ve got a thing for eating poop. Yeah, I said it. But don’t worry! I’m getting better, thanks to some training and the magic of the “leave it” command. Still, it’s probably best you watch me during those poop breaks. I do require a fenced-in yard, but I also enjoy leisurely walks at the park. And while I know a few basic commands like sit, stay, and touch, I’m just waiting for the right family to help me hone my skills. One skill I don’t need help with is when I hear the word “treat”—I’m there faster than you can blink! At night, I’ll be your angel. I’m happy to quietly sleep in my bed, your bed, or even a crate (I’m flexible like that as long as I’m by you!). But I’m not a “crate dog” when you’re gone. It makes me anxious, so I prefer to have the run of the house when you're away. I basically just wait for you to return…can you blame me? Speaking of anxiety — I do have separation anxiety, so my new family should be prepared to work with me on this. My current family has been so amazing, helping me with some desensitization training, and I take some doggy Prozac, which has helped a lot! But here’s the thing: I’d prefer my people to be around most of the time. Are you a homebody? Do you work from home? Well, then we’re a match made in heaven. I’ll be the best coworker you’ve ever had, and I’ll always have your back! Trust takes me some time, dedication and patience, but once I feel safe, I’ll be your ride or die! My human(s) will need to separately spend one-on-one time with me so I can learn to trust them. And while I’m a bit protective of my home and can be vocal about new people, once the room settles down, I’m all about coexisting. Just, uh, please don’t try to pet me too soon. I’ll let you know when I’m ready. I’m also a quiet, chill guy at dog-friendly places like breweries and Bachmans. I love tagging along, but I’m more of a look, don’t touch kind of dog. I like to observe the fun, but I prefer not to be approached by strangers (unless they have a treat…I can be a brave boy, but ONLY for a treat!). I’ll put my full trust in you to be my #1 advocate. I can live with a cat (as long as they respect my space), but I LOVE dogs. In fact, I’d love to have a confident, playful dog companion at home. Playing is SO fun, and having a doggy friend makes me feel more secure when my people are away. So, what kind of home am I looking for? I need one that’s calm and consistent. A household without kids would be ideal, because I need a peaceful environment to thrive. And random, but when it comes to stairs, I’m good with a few steps, but not too many. I just want to feel secure, safe, and comfortable with my new family. If you can provide that, I’ll be your world! Meet Hugo, the adorable Frenchie with a heart full of loyalty!  This sweet boy is an excellent companion who will wait patiently by the window for you to return, and once you're home, he loves nothing more than sleeping at your feet while you work or lounging next to you on the couch (though he's learned that the floor is comfy too!).  He would love it if you worked from home, or were home often, and makes a fabulous coworker during the day!  His favorite activities are wherever his people are.  He may even follow you into the shower just to see what you're up to in there.  Right now, he is alone 3-4 hours and hangs out in the living room with his foster fur siblings and patiently waits for his humans to return. Hugo is fully potty trained and would do best in a quieter home, especially one with older, calmer children who understand that Hugo can sometimes may need some space. He's a sensitive soul and will thrive in a home that can give him a calm, structured environment where he feels safe.  When the adults in the home are gone, he is happy to follow the older children around, but mainly waits for his "person" to come home. He’s also a perfect fit for someone who works from home, as he loves to be by your side throughout the day. Hugo enjoys his walks and loves running around the backyard, so if you’ve got a fenced-in yard, he’ll make the most of it. He also loves puppy chew toys and Himalayan chews - so keep a good supply handy! Now, if you're a family with chickens... those silly birds aren't a match for Hugo.  Aside from that, he's good with most dogs he's met of all sizes, but prefers those that are calmer and match his demeanor.  He's also good with his foster kitty in the home!  He’s a healthy, food-driven little guy who has attended obedience training and knows some basic commands like sit and lay down—just make sure to keep those treats coming for the best results! His ideal furever home would be in a place where the family is home frequently, or have another confident dog around that will bond with him, show him the ropes, and be his companion until you return. He would like a yard since that is where he likes going potty, if you happen to have one, but if not, he'll stick close by you on a leash!  He's a true velcro frenchie and cannot wait to meet you!  Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. This dog requires an application fee.  This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Bulldog Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the bulldog. Our goal is place bulldogs in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the bulldog, we will not approve your application.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up.
