Story
This beautiful girl came to us when her owner moved to Tennessee and was unable to find a place to live that allowed pets. Both Opal and her owner were heartbroken. Opal is a one and a half year old purebred white and fawn French bulldog. She weighs 22 pounds and she is now spayed, up-to-date on required vaccines, heartworm tested negative and micro chipped. She is a healthy little girl looking for her forever home. She is house trained, and she gets along ok with other dogs, but definitely wants to be the center of attention so she would do well with another laid-back dog or as an only dog. She is great with kids. If you would like to be sweet Opal’s hero, please email omlc7@hotmail.com or dogs4mylife@gmail.com and we will send our information and application. PLEASE NOTE THAT A LOT OF OUR RESPONSES GO TO JUNK MAIL SO IF YOU DO NOT SEE A RESPONSE FROM US, PLEASE CHECK YOUR JUNK/SPAM FOLDER.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi – my name is Malaga and I hope my initial shyness doesn’t turn you away from adopting me.  You see, once I warm up to you and feel safe, my goofy personality comes out to play.  Although I am very skittish, I am also very submissive.  I never show any aggression or bite.  In fact, I have a 5-year old friend here at my foster home and I don’t mind her.  Due to my skittish nature, I do need a fenced yard.  It’s just best for all of us that way so I don’t get away. The fenced yard has also helped with my potty training – with a good routine I am doing great. We are also working on crate training and I am a superstar! While I’m good with other dogs, I don’t show much interest in them – I am just a mellow gal! I don’t bark often (usually just when suuuuper excited when you come home).  I’ll even manage a few zoomies when you return just for show.  And if you tell me to “lay down”, I am smart enough to know that’s when I need to lay on my bed.  Just don’t stand/walk behind me (remember that skittish thing I have?),  I like to be the one in the caboose section.  I have learned SO much from having another dog in my foster home that I do kindly ask for one in my forever.  They have been so instrumental in teaching me how to dog and cuddle, play, wrestle, etc! Overall, I’m a chill dog.  Sleeping/naps are what I do the most. We are working leash walks and I am a little alarmed with the pull of the leash, but we are practicing!   If I sound like a good match for you, that’s wonderful!  Until I hear, I’ll just stay here napping and gnawing on bones. *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared.  Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses .   Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.   Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a    particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.     Bulldogs are a member of the Brachycephalic breed and therefore have a host of health issues that may arise.  Because these dogs are new into our rescue, health issues in the future may arise that we are not aware of.  Some of these issues are allergies, eye issues, yeast infections, interdigital cysts, slipped disks in their back, breathing problems, among a host of others that can occur at any time or when seasons change. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure the breed is a good fit for you and your family.  It is estimated that the average bulldog owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs.     Bulldogs are one of the most expensive dogs to own, maintain, and rescue and our adoption fees reflect such expenses.  The application process for bulldogs usually moves quite quickly as they are a popular breed, so we ask that adopters do research and be prepared for adoption at the time you submit your application.  They are happy, goofy, playful characters and we are excited you are taking the first steps into rescuing one!   This dog requires an application fee.  This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Bulldog Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the bulldog. Our goal is place bulldogs in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the bulldog, we will not approve your application.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hey there! I'm Danny Devito, a lovable 9-year-old French Bulldog, weighing in at 24 pounds of pure charm. I may be a senior, but I've got the heart of a puppy and the spirit to match. I'm all about being close to my humans, no matter where we are – inside, outside, at home, or out and about. I'm pretty mild-mannered, except when it's feeding time. Then, I become very vocal, urging you to hurry up with my meal! I love a little yummy in my tummy! I adore everyone I meet and will happily lay at anyone's feet for some pets and love (and treats!). At the dog park, I love hanging out with bigger dogs. I might be small, but I enjoy running around their ankles and joining in the fun. Despite my age, I still have short bursts of energy and an entertaining running style that can make anyone smile. I love toy bones and stuffed animals, and after doing my business outside, I make sure to remind you – loudly – that I've earned a treat. I never let you forget the treats! I'm great with cats, always respectful, and I don't need a fenced yard. Leash training is a work in progress, and while I'm not a fan of long walks due to my little legs, I do okay with short distances. I can be quite dramatic if you try to take me too far – I'll lay down on the grass or sidewalk and close my eyes until you pick me up and carry me. I'm potty trained for poop, but we're still working on a routine for pee  - sometimes foster mom puts a belly band on me just in case. I'm crate trained and know the hand signal for "come," and we're working on "kennel." I’m a little hard of hearing so the hand signals are working great. I'm mild-mannered, love to snuggle, and will take over any blanket within reach. I have a particular fondness for cat toys if you have those lying around. Stairs are a bit of a challenge for me – I do a silly slow-hop that sometimes needs a bit of encouragement. I thrive on attention, petting, and treats. If you're looking for a low-energy companion who loves snuggles and has a big personality in a small package, I'm your guy. Could I be the perfect addition to your family? *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This is reflected within her adoption fee. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Keep checking back for upcoming events I will be attending!       Meet Scout! This adorable one-year-old Frenchie is on the lookout for his forever family! Despite being born with spina bifida, Scout doesn't let it slow him down. While he may need to wear a diaper and suspenders due to lack of control over his urine and bowls, his ability to stand up makes diapering a breeze. He is able to express his bladder and bowel himself and does not require and assistance in that realm - just changing his diaper. Frankly, not having to go outside in bad weather is a plus, and there is nothing to pickup in your backyard! Because of this, Scout cannot go 8+ hours a day without diaper changes, so he does require someone who works from home, or can stop home to help change his diapers to avoid infection and chaffing. Scout is full of personality, with plenty of opinions to share. He's a playful pup who never seems to tire out, often leaving his friends wondering how he keeps up the energy. When playtime winds down, Scout isn't one to rest for long; he'll grab a toy and entertain himself by tossing it around with gusto. Scout is eager to find a loving home where he can continue spreading joy and laughter with his playful antics. Due to his energetic ways, not all dogs appreciate his play He has doggie friends, who enjoy playing like him, but it is not preferred by all. Scout can't wait to start a basic obedience class with you to keep learning and to make up for lost socialization when he was a younger pup. Scout has not met any kids, but is ok with dog-savvy cats.  He is crate and leash trained, so does not require a fenced in yard.  Scout is looking for a special home, but we know it is out there Scout is an incredibly sweet boy who loves life and not all he needs is YOU…a patient, unconditionally loving fur-ever family that will NEVER give up on him. Sure, he may be a bit higher maintenance than others, but his heart is enormous and it’s overflowing with love that he wants to share with an amazing family. If you will welcome him into your world, he promises you that not only will he show off his excited bouncy dance, but he will make you the center of his universe!!  Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi there! I'm Elmer, but know the name Vinny. I'm a 9-year-old Frenchie, and I weigh around 33 pounds. Let me tell you a bit about myself. First and foremost, I absolutely adore my humans. I’m a cuddle bug who loves to follow my people around the house. I never let them out of my sight. If you're sitting in a chair or working in the office, I'll be right there, lying in my dog bed or on the floor next to your feet. And if you sit or lie on the couch, I’ll be up there with you, making sure I’m touching you. I don't jump, I climb up carefully. I have a few favorite things that make my tail wag. I love treats, especially when I get to go into my kennel. I also enjoy playing with balls, soft toys, squeaky toys, and bones. I love chasing basketballs. I think I can fit them in my mouth, and I will chase them as long as you let me! I’m potty trained on a routine and good if we stick to it. Speaking of outside, I don’t need a fenced yard because I walk nicely on a leash for my potty breaks and exercise. I can comfortably walk about a mile or less, making me a great companion for shorter walks. I know some cool commands too: Sit, Stay, Come, and Leave It. Also, I am great overnight in the kennel and don’t mind sleeping in sometimes. I have to admit, I can be a bit possessive of my humans around other dogs, so I’d do best as the only dog in the house. I promise to be all the companion you need. If you do have other pups, I'd do best with those that are low key like me. Barky, playful ones - not my jam.  It would be best if my forever home understand that I have the potential to resource guard my people so will need to be reminded that not everyone is mine.  I really like making them happy, so this shouldn't be a big issue if you keep helping me with my training. You might notice my cute little quirk—I’m missing some front teeth, so sometimes my lips stick to my gums, showing my teeth, and occasionally my tongue sticks out. It’s pretty adorable if I do say so myself! As an older gentleman, my kidneys are not as high functioning as they once were.  I was recently diagnosed with stage 2 kidney disease.  As long as you take good care of me and feed me an appropriate diet to help my kidneys not work overly hard, there is no reason  I won’t continue to have a normal lifespan.  I also take meds for high blood pressure. when I went into the vet it was borderline, almost high, so we started meds just in case. I’m an easygoing and laid-back kind of guy. I’d be perfect for an elderly couple or someone who works from home because I LOVE being with my humans. If you're looking for a loyal, loving, and low-maintenance friend, I’m your guy!   * Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. I ’m a little shy meeting people but if you bribe me with treats I warm up in time.  On my walks I shy away from people so it takes me time to get used to strangers. I didn’t get any pets till I came to my foster home. My foster mom showed me how wonderful it is to be petted and curl up beside her when she’s watching tv or reading. If she’s petting my foster sister I nudge my way in cause I want my share. I like the walks my foster dad takes me on and have learned to walk pretty good on a leash. I like to play with toys occasionally. I love the fenced in yard and like to run and play with my foster sister. I’m a sweet and loving boy looking for my furever home. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee: $400 plus tax Cypress has an incredible zest for life and loves being included in whatever his person is doing! His big, bright smile has the power to turn any frown upside down. This good boy brings the fun no matter what the situation.    He loves to chase the ball around the yard and is so fast that none of his foster siblings comes remotely close to matching his speed! He LOVES going for car rides and does well in the car. Walks are another popular activity… what dog doesn’t like walks right? However, Cypress practically goes into orbit when his leash gets brought out!  It’s a spectacle to behold for sure – truly amazing!   He RACES into his crate when it’s mealtime and is a pro at staying in his crate when he's left at home. He's over the puppy chewing stage though so he sometimes gets to stay out in the bedroom when his foster owners go out.   He sometimes needs a gradual introduction to new dogs because he gets so excited that he’s not sure if he should be afraid or be playful.  He has had dogs gang up on him before so he’s unsure if he needs to defend himself at first.  He has been introduced to several new dogs in his current foster home and gets used to new ones within a couple of days now.  In his foster home, he has good doggie manners and doesn't try to play with the ones that tell him they'd rather not play at the moment.   He is pretty good at meeting strangers, although every once in a while he gets afraid of men. Doesn’t take long to change his mind though if treats are involved. He has met a handful of different aged kids and he seems to enjoy getting attention from them. He’s not very big but he is a ball of energy so he might be too bouncy for toddlers.    Whoever adopts this boy will have no choice but to smile every day when they look at his smiling face and see his wiggle butt!       Check out my videos! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee: $400 plus taxJust a little girl who loves humans. Cuddly, playful, quiet, gentle. She would do well in a single family home or with shared walls. A simple bone toy and a lap to sit on is all she needs to be happy. Loves to sleep with her human for body heat. And requests to wear her sweater before going out to potty in this cold! Potty trained, knows basic commands and is just ready to be loved. Marley has always lived in a multi dog home so would prefer to continue having a canine buddy.
