Story
Say hello to Jess, our resident momma dog and official ray of sunshine! This 1.5 year-old beauty came to us with her five adorable puppies, and let's just say she nailed motherhood like a pro. While Jess might be a little shy around new humans (don't worry, she warms up quickly), when it comes to her dog pals, she's a total social butterfly! She's the life of the party in the play yard, always spreading good vibes. It's no wonder she's quickly become one of our "helper dogs"-she's got that leadership thing down. Jess would absolutely love to have a canine roommate in her new home (or a few-she's not picky). If you've got a furry friend who's looking for a bestie, Jess is your girl! Go fill out an adoption application for her today at www.HVARS.org/adoptions Primary Color: Tri Color Weight: 38.375 Age: 1yrs 2mths 1wks

Story
This handsome boy is Bandit. He is 4-years-old and weighs 75 lb. He is a hound mix but doesn't have the long floppy ears or the baying voice. Bandit is a very sweet dog who loves any kind of attention. His goofy ears are sure to catch anybody's attention. Bandit loves to be with people and go on adventures. He rides great in the car! Bandit is a people's dog and immediately loves anybody he meets. He would like to be in a home where he isn't alone for long hours. Although Bandit is an active boy who does like to play, he's just happy to be doing anything as long as it's with people. He likes meeting other dogs and playing with them, but he would also be fine as the only dog in the home. Due to his size, Bandit would do best with teens and up. He does need a cat-free home. If you love big dogs, please come meet Bandit. He has been waiting patiently for his people to show up. It is time for Bandit to get out of the shelter and into a forever home! Bandit is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and healthy. His adoption fee is $400. If you would like to meet/adopt Bandit, please complete our online application at https://daws.org/daws-forms. Email daws@daws.org if you need assistance or have any questions. Here is a video to enjoy of Bandit: https://youtu.be/E-tTI5bZfl0?si=Y5ur-5q0nj0Inc0C

Story
Meet Scarlett, a three-year-old American Foxhound with a heart full of love and a gentle spirit. Weighing in at just 49 pounds, this sweet girl has found herself at the shelter under heartbreaking circumstances. Her previous owner, needing just a minor shoulder surgery, decided to surrender Scarlett after two years, leaving her feeling abandoned and uncertain. We rescued her and she was adopted a few months later, but then returned to us after just six weeks due to her timidness. It takes Scarlett several weeks to trust people and she truly needs her new family to be patient and understanding as she regains her trust, being that her world continues to be shattered. Scarlett is a shy and sensitive girl who has been taking her transition hard. It's clear she has experienced the sting of being discarded, not to mention also losing her furry siblings, and she's been understandably reserved since arriving to us in August of 2024. Despite her past, Scarlett remains a truly loving and affectionate dog, yearning for the security and warmth of a true furever home. This beautiful Foxhound has shown a preference for companionship over play. Scarlett hasn’t quite warmed up to toys or activities, but she does find solace being in your company and prefers woman over men. She seems to like kids as long as they're calm and is ok with older dogs as long as they don't bother her. Please remember, Scarlett is anxious so she needs someone who can help her regain her confidence and a sense of safety. Scarlett’s favorite pastimes include leisurely strolls and cozying up on the couch for some snuggles. She walks perfectly on leash and is also housetrained. Scarlett is a laid-back girl who would flourish in a serene and nurturing environment. If you have a quiet home and the heart to offer Scarlett the love and patience she deserves, she will reward you with her unwavering loyalty and affection. Her adoption fee is $400 and Scarlett is vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative, and spayed.
