Story
Barney is an affectionate, sweet boy. Probably not a year old and loves to play. He has that wonderful hound voice but he's not obsessive with it. He does well with other dogs, he's not familiar with cats but plays to hard with chickens. He's very smart and has learned a few basic commands. He would be a loyal companion for a little love. For more information on Barney and our adoption process please enclose your phone number with your inquiry or call Jacki at 941-587-4612.  October 14, 2024, 3:15 pm

Story
***Special needs. She was hit by a car and had several hip surgeries. She needs joint supplements and may eventually need some support for her back and in the form of a wheelchair support vehicle!*** Meet Jenny! Jenny is a 2-3-year-old foxhound, whippet, pointer and jack Russell terrier mix!! She was hit with a hit by a car within the first year of her life. She was turned over to a shelter in South Carolina who contacted us because we are well-known to help with special mobility needs dogs. Of course, we said yes. Jenny has endured two hip surgeries, on the same side of her hip for both of them. The first surgery was a female femoral head osteotomy commonly known as an FHO. The surgeon removed the head of her femur and made a pocket in the hit muscle as a replacement. She also removed many bone fragments as well. It took Jenny nearly a year to recover from the first surgery and then it was determined she needed another! The second surgery seem to do the trick and removed a lot of scar tissue and extra bone growth that had become painful for her. Jenny is a happy-go-lucky girl. She’s always on the lookout for bunnies and squirrels, that’s the hound in her! She loves to play with other dogs, but big dogs that are rough can be a little much for her although she can hold her own! She does well playing on grass but a lot of walking on concrete will need some special care to make sure that her back legs don’t drag. She uses both our back legs very well, but will always have some mobility issues. She often tends to walk sideways when she gets tired! Jenny has gotten along well with all her other foster dog siblings. Jenny hasn’t met a stranger and also has been great with the children she’s met. As well as the cat in her foster home. Jenny is very well crate trained and housetrained although her accident has left her with urgency when she needs to go outside to potty. And Jenny walks well on a leash and loves to walk the neighbourhood looking for anything that moves! We feel that Jenny is ready for her forever home after over a year in her rescue foster homes. Interested in becoming a forever home for Jenny? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws. We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting Jenny. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and Jenny the perfect forever home, and appreciate you working with us. For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process. Our adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!

AKYLI ! This beauty is 10 months old (Sept) and 45 pounds. She is sister to Opie James (boy), also up for adoption! They are both sweet and pretty chill for puppies but a bit shy with humans they do not know. Akyli would do best in a home with another dog or her brother Opie James !! If interested in adopting, please complete our application - you can copy and paste: https://www.miraclesforsatosrescue.org/adoption-foster-application ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE NOTE: This dog is currently in Puerto Rico. Once an adopter is fully approved, transport will be arranged to the New York/NJ area. We DO adopt out of state, but you must come to pick up. In addition, if you are applying for this dog or any of our pups, you must be open to dog psychology/behavior (Cesar Millan) and fulfilling the needs of the dog. We strive for our dogs to be adopted into the right home. The best fit for the dog is our priority. We ask that you please make sure if interested in a puppy or high energy breed that you are ready for this time consuming/daily endeavor and have patience as this is a long term commitment (could be 15+ years). Please consider your future lifestyle after COVID. Please make sure you are ready to properly exercise and give a dog all it needs for fulfillment. Your ongoing time and day-to-day commitment is the most important thing in caring for a dog. In addition we cannot guarantee breed of any dog or expected adult size of a puppy. Thank you for understanding.

Story
Hi! I’m Red! I am a Fox Red Lab mix and am about 18-24 months old. Red Labs are a variation of the Yellow Lab and we are quite stunning, if I do say so myself! After our red coloring being almost bred out of the breed in favor of lighter yellow coloring, we are becoming popular again. I’m pretty darn cute, aren’t I?!? I LOVE people of all ages and all sizes. In fact, I love my people so much, I would like a home where someone is home most of the time. If you have the time to give me exercise and love, I could become your perfect companion! Red came to our rescue when his owner was jailed and the sister was no longer able to take care of Red. Red has lived with both dogs and cats in his former home. In our vet's boarding area, Red is amicable with all of the other dogs. His kennel is toward the back of the facility and when he is let out for his potty and exercise time, Red goes to all of the other dogs' kennels and greets each one with a happy tail wag. Heather, our photographer, remarks that Red is the nicest dog ever! She shares, "He has great manners. He doesn’t bark or get impatient when he sees me tending to the other pups; he wags his tail and wiggles but doesn’t bark or paw at the gate. I have yet to see him eat a treat. It’s like he has a biscuit and bone store in his run! He seemed a little timid at the outset but has really warmed up and is just lovely. He likes to run around and would love to be with someone or other dogs to play with." Red is a wonderful dog and is just waiting for his forever family to find him. He weighs about 70 lbs and is a handsome, hunky fellow who is a sucker for attention and belly rubs. This sweet boy is heartworm negative, has been neutered, brought up-to-date on vaccinations, and is micro-chipped. He received a Proheart 6 injection for heartworm prevention so he will not need any additional HW preventative for 6 months. He will come north in late October to be directly adopted. Be sure to watch Red's video!! Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to become an important, forever part of their life journey by continuing the rehabilitation we have begun. If you would like to be part of Red's rescue story and are already approved to adopt through SGRR, please contact Cheryl Kewley to be considered to adopt Red. If not yet approved for adoption, please visit our website to lean more and to submit an online application. Click here to visit our website. Please contact us with any questions regarding your application status. PLEASE APPLY by submitting an application via this online link: Click for Adoption Application About Our Rescue Before being approved to adopt, all potential adopters need to complete our online application and participate in our pre-adoption review process. The process includes the completion of an online application, a reference from the applicants' vet, a phone interview, and a visit to the applicants' home. The application process helps us determine what type of Golden would be best suited for the applicants' life style. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may find that this dog is not the right match for your family. We are regularly getting new Goldens in need of a home, so we encourage you to apply and get approved so that when the right dog comes along you will be ready. The information provided on each dog is based on observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, SGRR does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will act in your home. ADOPTION FEES - Effective of October 1, 2024 PUREBRED DOGS Purebred puppies, up to 6 months $1000 Purebred dogs, 6 months - 6 years $800 Purebred dogs, 7 - 9 years $650 Purebred dogs, 10 years and up $550 Young dogs with special needs $650 Senior dogs with special needs $500 Pairs of Purebred Puppies, up to 6 months $1600 Bonded pair - young purebred dogs $1400 Bonded pair - senior dogs 7 years & up $1000 MIXED BREED DOGS Up to 6 months $850 6 months - 6 years $750 7 - 9 years $650 10 years and up $550 Young dogs with special needs $650 Senior dogs with special needs $500 Bonded pair - young dogs $1000 Bonded pair - senior dogs 7 years & up $900 A contract is signed the day of adoption. Under the terms of the contract, all adopters are required to bring the rescue to a vet within 7 business days. The dogs receive basic veterinary care prior to adoption. If your vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog is returned and a full refund is provided. Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and we do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! The rescue retains title to the dog and can never be released or sold. Should the adopters no longer be able to keep the dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer caring for their Golden in a way we see fit. Adopters then have to agree to follow up visits as needed. Please be a ray of light for this Sunshine dog and make a tax deductible donation toward medical and other expenses. Every cent of your generosity goes directly toward the care of a Sunshine dog.
