Story
Despite her timid nature caused by a difficult past, Ruby is a gentle soul just hoping for a kind, loving home. While she may be cautious around strangers or sudden movements, once she feels safe and loved, Ruby becomes a total lap dog, seeking comfort and affection. All she needs are some gentle pets. She's a gentle soul who just wants to be held and hugged on (i.e. a human thunder jacket). She’s already making progress with leash training and does best on a harness. She is dog-friendly with dogs who give her time to adjust.A patient and understanding adopter is essential for Ruby to thrive. Someone who is willing to introduce her to a kinder world and teach her that not everyone is a threat will be the perfect match. With love and patience, Ruby will continue to blossom into a sweet and confident pup.New River Animal RescueOak Hill, WV 25902(681) 220-1067support@nrhswv.com

Story
Max is a compact-sized, mixed breed guy that we think might have some Feist and Labrador Retriever in him. He has a beautiful red coat with white markings. He has a wonderful personality and is dog and people friendly. Max does well on a leash, is motivated by attention from people, and is an all-around good guy. Max has been chosen to participate in the Happy Hounds Prison Dog Program at Roxbury Correctional in Hagerstown MD. At the conclusion of his training he will have completed: house training, crate training, leash walking, and other basic commands. Upon request, videos can be made available of Max interacting with people and other dogs.
