Story
Approximate Age: 1.5 years old Approximate Weight: 18.6 lbs I just arrived to ODHS but the humans promised to update my bio as they learn more about me! Put in an application and come meet me soon. You can still come adopt me or even join our foster program to help the humans learn all the awesome things about new dogs like me! Learn more on our website! Hope to see you soon! *********************************************************************** Visit our website for an application to adopt. https://www.olddominionhumanesociety.org/adoption-survey What breed am I? Mixed mutt! ODHS does not breed label (unless there's official paperwork), as studies show it is nearly impossible to tell the exact breed of each dog based off of their appearance. Educational article: 3/3/3 rule: https://www.rescuedogs101.com/bringing-new-dog-home-3-3-3-rule/?fbclid=IwAR2iv5m7fqk3FieO7LOsstGeGsYYV_F1rJOd1BPxaImofLpcinpYsUbFRWs Adoption Donations are $275 for an adult, $375 for puppies (a dog under one year of age), and $175 for a senior dog (based on the age of the dog). More "sought out breeds may have a higher adoption donation) Adoption donations are to be made via cash, or credit/debit card. There is a $5 fee to run cards. We do not accept checks for adoption fees. Please remember to bring a martingale collar and leash (non-retractable) with you the day of the adoption. We typically have adoption events on Weds 5-7pm, Fri 6-8pm, Sat 11am - 3pm, and Sun 11am - 1pm. Our adoption center is located at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Suite 101, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. It's important that you keep an eye on your emails for any changes or updates during the adoption process. Old Dominion Humane Society is a volunteer based organization. We are run completely by volunteers, who also have full time jobs, so we appreciate your patience. Currently, the average timeframe for a response to your application is 1 week. Like us on Facebook "Old Dominion Humane Society" and be a part of promoting forever homes for dogs in need. #Adopt #Donate #Foster #Volunteer Note: ODHS adopts within a 350 mile radius of Fredericksburg, Virginia. A $50 out of state fee applies.

Story
Rowan (who I’ve started calling Shadow because he’s always by my side) is one of the smartest and calmest pups I’ve ever fostered. He takes everything in stride, whether it’s learning new things, meeting new people, or just relaxing nearby. He’s been spending time with me at the brewery where I work, and everyone who meets him falls in love with his gentle nature and easygoing personality. He’s the kind of dog who just fits right in, always content to be part of whatever’s going on, as long as he’s with you.   ##2330807##

ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 35 pounds KNOWN WITH DOGS: Nemo was reported to be good with dogs in a previous shelter, though he is still working on his introductions with dogs at Homeward Trails. KNOWN WITH CATS: We do not currently know how Nemo is with cats. If that is needed, let us know and we'll work on getting that information! KNOWN WITH KIDS: We do not know how Nemo is with kids, though he can be jumpy when excited. KNOWN CUES: Working on Touch, Drop It. KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING &/OR CRATING: Nemo follows treats into his crate and settles nicely. KNOWN LIKES: Human attention, sniffing, treats, exploring. KNOWN DISLIKES: Unknown. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: We found Nemo! And it turns out, he's not a fish but in fact an adorable feist/beagle mix. Nemo was found as a stray by a rural partner shelter in Scott County. He has never met a human who isn't a friend and is mostly likely to be found in your lap, soliciting attention and maybe sneaking a treat or two. He'd love a home where his place is right next to you on the couch. Nemo was neutered during his stay at Homeward Trails.
