Story
Let me introduce you to Magnolia, a 1.5 year old, 40 pound beauty. Whoever she chooses to be her new family is getting a great dog & let me tell you why. She inherently has traits that you cannot train. She doesn't meet a stranger & wants to visit with everyone. She loves kids, gets along well with other dogs & doesn't take issue with cats, constantly trying to give everyone kisses. She does not display any food/toy/bone aggression with people or animals & doesn't guard her things. When it is time for work, she willing goes into her crate & waits for a treat. Sometimes she goes in just because she's tired, as the door is always open when someone is home. I have had her since August & she has access to a doggie door when we are home & we have had no accidents in the house. She has an exuberance for life & lives it to the fullest. This girl is up for anything - playing in the back yard, taking a ride, going for a walk, chewing on a bone & even taking an occasional nap. These are qualities you should want in a pet & she has them ALL! Her favorite thing of all is to be outside, day or night. She loves to sit & watch the squirrels run in the trees & just hang out.
What she lacks is a little obedience training. She had NO training prior to coming to our rescue & we are guessing she was basically outside 24/7 with no structure, so some basic training would do her good & create a bond with her new family. Because she loves everyone she tends to not observe personal space until an undetermined amount of time passes that you have been in her presence. She likes to haul all her bones & toys out to the yard with her, but I haven't been able to teach her to bring them back in...LOL. Magnolia is very food motivated so training should involve treats for sure. She currently knows sit, stay, wait, back, ok, kennel, in the house, no & potty outside. She likes carrots, green beans, chicken, apples, rice & basically any other treat she is given. Magnolia is able to jump over gates, so a 5ft or higher fence will be needed in her yard so she does not try to jump it and go socialize with someone across the way & to keep her safe as she hangs outside.
