Let me introduce you to Lilly Tayda, this girl can best be described as the quiet person at the party that is actually going to be the best connection and share the best conversation with. The role of “life of the party” isn’t what she is auditioning for, there is only so much room for those. She would best be suited for the role of, warm-hearted shy one. Sure, initially she may come off shy but as you get to know her you realize, she likes to get to know the people she spends time with, and for her, knowing is loving. This is a companion dog, content at your side and appreciative of everything, especially the small stuff like snuggles and treats. In rescue breed and age are offered as educated guesses given we do not know a dogs history but we believe Lilly Tayda is about 2 years old and is possibly a Pittie/Black Mouth Cur mix and she weighs 53 lbs. The perfect size for hopping in the car and being able to see out of the window with no trouble at all. Lilly is a perfect putzing-around gal, whatever way you spend your time, she will be happy to be there. She isn’t going to demand attention but she will quietly check-in for some affection, follow along occasionally, before finding a cozy spot nearby to lay down. She responds positively to a connection and comforting presence without needing constant reinforcement or praise. Basically, Lilly will be happy to keep you company without getting in the way. Lilly Tayda currently lives with other dogs in her foster home, a small spicy Chihuahua and a similar sized dog to her. In addition the dogs, she also lives with a cat who she has been mostly avoidant of. Lilly doesn’t need dogs to feel happy so she is a great candidate for only-dog life if that is what you are looking for. When we introduced her to new dogs, she was happy to spend time with them but didn’t make much of a connection or show a playful side. Even though she didn’t play with any of the dogs she was introduced to, we think with time and the right connection she could show you and her new friend, a more playful side. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.  The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. I am a sweet, shy girl who absolutely loves other dogs of all sizes and I mostly ignore cats. I need a family that is willing to be patient with me while I learn to trust people. In the time I’ve been with my foster family I’ve gone from spending most of my time outside or in the other room to sleeping on the bed, asking for pets, getting excited when the humans come home, and hanging out where everyone else is. It might take me a bit to be a confident dog who doesn’t shy away from new people, but I promise I will keep working so hard at it Loud noises and sudden movements kind of still scare me though so I would be best with kids 12 and over. I am house trained and have never had an accident. I know my name and come when I’m called. I’m not a barker and can be trusted to be left out while you’re away. I love walls and am working on not pulling on the leash-I’m just so excited! I am unsure of new people and dogs at first so a slow approach would be best for me, but once I’m warmed up I love everyone and do well with other dogs. It would be beneficial if I had a dog sibling to help me become more comfortable and learn new things because I am more of a follower, not a leader. I am potty trained, crated trained and have some basic obedience training. My foster mom has been working with me on the stranger danger behavior so someone willing to continue confidence and relationship building training would be a good fit for me. I have not been around small children so older children would be more up my alley as I like to wiggle and play often.
