My name is Lil Man aka Deuce. Deuce for two since I'm getting a second chance at life after being in the shelter. My foster Dad says I'm living life to the fullest and trying really hard at forgetting my first life. I'm still shy around some people but my foster has been teaching me to be less fearful of strangers. I would love you to help me with slow introductions when I meet new people. People always say how beautiful my brindle coat is. I'm very smart and will sit and speak for my treats, I am learning to play ball and will jump in the air to get it! I'm still working on the bring it back all the time, every time. But I'm working on it! I get along well with other dogs and I'm a great watch dog. I like to make sure my people are safe and taken care of. I love being outside in the sun and playing with my dog foster siblings or other dogs. I love the yard and think being outside is swell. When I come inside I'm a very good boy and don't get on the couch or jump on people. I do like to give little licks and kisses to the people I feel safe with. I have a zest for life and like to go for walks and runs and to play in the river. I'm potty trained and stay out during the day in the sunshine. I always try to ensure the squirrels know I'm the bosss. At night I like to sleep inside with my pals. Whoever adopts me will have to be a little patient and continue working with me on my shyness at times. New things are scary and I need you to show me it's going to be ok. My perfect home would have a nice, fenced yard, and maybe a doggy door so I can go in and out on my own. I'll probably do better with another dog in the household, I really like friends. I would love someone to play fetch with me or take me to the river and swim. I don't mind baths at all either, but I sure don't like cats! I like to keep my food just for me and don't really like to share. I know basic commands and will sit for a treat, or two. I would love to meet you and your resident dog and make some new friends!

Drake is a friendly, loving, cuddling, high-energy dog who loves to play fetch and splash in water! He’s great off a leash and can catch balls out of mid air. He is curious outside, but will come when called (even if he trots out the front door). We took him to dog parks, Yard Bar, on hiking trails, Zilker and have a daily ball-launcher fetch routine! If you’re looking for a dog to go exploring with who will plop his head in your lap in the evening then Drake is your dog! Sadly, I just got divorced so I feel guilty about how little I get to take him out, and my five young kids aren’t good about reading his body language and would very rarely get nipped at if they were jumping on top of him (though he’s typically very patient). If you adopt him, I can throw in a large steel crate toys and gear to play fetch with!

Introducing Zay! Zay came to APA from the Austin Animal Center. He was an owner surrender at AAC because he kept trying to escape his owner's yard. The former owner kept Zay as a backyard only dog for ten years and did not neuter him. Zay was neutered at AAC, which should decrease his inclination to roam. Zay did not have an optimal home environment for ten long years, unfortunately. But that life is now over! Zay is now house-trained, leash-trained, and he knows "sit" and "shake." He's very treat-motivated, and he warms up quickly to new people if tasty treats are involved! Zay is heartworm positive, which will be fully treated by APA. At 80 pounds, Zay would do best with older kids, but he can be paired with a well-matched dog friend! Come meet this older gentleman today!

This handsome guy is Solovino and he`s looking for a job!Like many shepherds, Solovino is smart, determined, and innovative. He was surrendered to us after escaping his yard one too many times and unfortunately getting hit by a car. Shelter life has been especially hard on Solovino. He had to spend several weeks on cage rest to heal after orthopedic surgery for a broken leg. Thankfully he`s done with physical therapy and easing back into regular activity, but as a young, active, social guy, he is ready to get out of the shelter and into a home. Nora is gentle, obedient, keeps to herself, and gets along well with other dogs. She was in bad shape, physically and emotionally, when we got her, but she has improved pretty well. She likes to keep to herself, but she is good around other dogs, cats, and children. She is timid upon approach, but she is reliably gentle when handling her. Unfortunately, our kid is allergic to dogs, and we found out the hard way. She would be perfect for someone with the skills to guide her further along her healing journey. With the right match, she could be an impressive German Shepherd companion.
