Story
Delaney is a gorgeous Dutch Shep mix She is about a year old and 45 pounds. Delaney is a perfect lady in her crate and she walks well on a leash. She is high energy and is at the perfect age to train for any discipline. She would be best as a single dog as she tends to be dog selective, but a meet and greet would be recommended. . She does not like cats. She is people friendly and loves attention. She will be a great addition to an active family Applications at poorpawsrescue.com

Story
We sadly have to rehome our sweet girl, Izzy. She does not get along with our older dog, and it isn’t a good situation for either of them. Izzy is incredibly smart, affectionate, and playful, and would be a great only dog to an active person/couple or family with older kids. She loves belly rubs, cuddles, meals, chasing the ball in the yard, and looking out the window. She completed a manners class, and is (usually) a good listener. We hope we can find her a home where she will be loved dearly and spoiled rotten.

Story
Meet Sam ACCT-A-212026! Sam is a 4-year-old male who was brought in by animal protection officers as a stray on 1/26. Behavior Notes: Per staff 1/28: “Sam got out for a little one on one time today! He was alert barking in kennel when the handler approached, and ran away when he saw the leash. He did some leash dodging, but the handler was able to throw a large lasso and catch him. In the room he was anxious and exit seeking a lot, but did allow handling and leaned against the main handler a lot. With some time he began to solicit, and would lean into the main handler and me. He nuzzled into my armpit at one point, and allowed some all over pets and handling. He would do best with someone who understands his breed, and cane give him the time and dedication he needs.” 1/27 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: KNOWN HISTORY: Owner incarcerated KENNEL PRESENTATION: Sam was on the backside of his kennel sniffing. He came to the front when called with soft eyes, mid level wags, and neutral body. He was excited to come out and was pawing at the door, but when the handler reached in with the leash he sniffed it and then retreated away. The handler waited for him to come forward again and lowered the divider. He kept pawing at the leash and retreating away from it and was dodging it. After some tries the handler was able to get him leashed with a lasso and he exited easily once secured. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls strongly HANDLING : Once in the room Sam sniffed around and explored his surroundings, doing a perimeter check, marking a lot of spots in the room, and then coming back over to us. He sniffed the treats when offered, but would not take any. He came back over when called and would nudge us with his snout and rest his head in our laps. He allowed all over handling without issue and would come up to us often in small spurts for pets, before getting distracted and walking away again. Did not show any handling sensitivities while out. PLAY: No interest TOYS Showed interest in a tennis ball but would not engage further Medical Notes: On 1/29: Sam was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. His PCR test is pending. Per an exam on 1/27: “ Ears have slight debris. Teeth have mild staining. Coat/Skin have pet dandruff and passible old injury scar on right front leg.” Sam was noted to be “bright, alert, responsive and friendly.”

Story
Meet Sosa!Sosa is a retired Explosive Detection Dog who spent her career sniffing out threats and keeping people safe, but now she`s ready to trade in her harness for a life of relaxation and recreation.Sosa is a true athlete who loves to stay active! She`s an avid swimmer and will spend hours splashing around in the water. She`s also a lover of a good brushing session - there`s nothing she loves more than having her fur softly stroked and pampered. And, of course, she`s always up for a game of fetch or catch with her favorite balls! With her CWD training, Sosa is incredibly intelligent and has a strong work ethic. She thrives on mental stimulation and challenges, so she`ll need a home that can provide her with engaging activities and problem-solving exercises.
