Dog meet and greets are by appointment only, please answer the questions below the bio, either through Petfinder, Adopt-A-Pet, rescueme.org or by directly e-mailing us at shelter@hbpets.org. Please be patient, we will get back to you in a few days. ***Please check your Junk/Spam folder for reply e-mails from us, if it's been more than 72 hours*** Meet Spud, Milano (Millie for short) and Chili (adopted), they are 6mth old litter mates, Dutch Shepherd, Boxer and Rottweiler mix's. They were from a hoarding home, where there was 11 adult dogs and 12+ puppies. They are housebroken and loving. Our Millie just got back from, foster care and we found out a lot. Millie and Spud are both a little leery of men, but their confidence is building, they do love and are comfortable with our male employee. Both Spud and Millie had not seen each other in 6wks and when they saw each other it was made clear they are braver, happier and more confident with each other than they are separated. They would love a home full of patience, kindness, and understanding, someone who is willing to let them decompress and adjust to their new home. Both Millie and Spud are absolutely the sweetest dogs and don't have a mean bone in their body, they just need an adopter much like our team members, who is willing to give them what they need, full of routine and space. We are so thankful to Millie's foster family for giving her a wonderful place and verifying what we already suspected, that these two need to be adopted together. Both dogs are laid back, love to play with toys, they are not high energy and listen well. My adoption fee is $300 (each), includes: Spay/Neuter, vaccines, dewormer, Heartworm/Tick testing, microchip, flea treatment and a 1lb bag of puppy food. 1. Do you own or rent? If you rent you will need authorization from your rental company prior to meeting our puppies. 2. Do you have a private fenced yard? If not, what is your plan for potty breaks and exercise? 3. Do you go hiking, jogging or do physical activities that she can be a part of? 4. How many people and age groups live in your home? 5. How many animals, types and what they are like! 6. Do you have time to continue basic training? 7. How many hours a day will they be alone? 8. Please tell us more about how they would spend their days and what activities you would plan! 9. Have you ever owned a shy dog before? If so, please tell us about it.

Story
So what can you say about Beck, well he is very loveable, he is very loyal, and he is very smart, he is eager to learn and to please. He has energy to last him for days and will be sure to bring a smile to your face. This guy is roughly a year old, and weighs in right around 65lbs. He was brought in as a stray so we don’t really have much information about him. We believe he was pretty much left on his own to problem solve and to make his own fun. He does get worried at times that you might be rough with him. He does ok with other dogs, we would like to see him in a home with a female dog that is a little older that can keep him at task and show him the ropes. He is very food motivated which makes his training that much easier, he is excited to engage with people and he wants to learn. Due to his size and him being unaware that he is the size he is, if he goes into a home with kids, it needs to be with kids that are a little older. He is working on learning so many different things and he is very fun to interact with. If you would like to meet him we ask that you please email adoption@columbiahumane.org in order to obtain an application. Once we have an approved application on file, we will then schedule at time for you to come and meet him. His adoption fee is $150.00 that includes him being current on his vaccinations, microchipped, treated for fleas and treated for worms. For more information call 503-397-4353 or email adoption@columbiahumane.orgNovember 16, 2024, 6:40 am

Story
What can we say about Tucker. This guy has been working really hard to get the courage to start looking for a new home. Tucker came to CHS as an owner surrender because they were no longer able to care for him. He was pretty nervous when he first came in, but he has since settled in and is working on learning that life can be pretty good. This big goof ball is very sweet and he thinks even with his long legs that he should be a lap dog. He loves to snuggle and loves to play with other dogs. He will be cautious when he meets a new person, but if they have treats he will quickly become friends with a person. We are still undecided if Tucker is going to be able to live with cats as his reactions to them can be mixed, that might very well depend on the cat that he lives with. If you are interested in learning more about this pretty boy please feel free to email adoption@columbiahumane.org Tucker's adoption fee is $250.00 that will include him being altered, treated for fleas, microchipped and fully vaccinated. For more information call 503-397-4353 or email adoption@columbiahumane.orgNovember 25, 2024, 5:34 am
