Story
Little man is said to be talkative, quiet, playful, friendly to visitors and affectionate. He is good with cats but would prefer to not be around other dogs. His favorite toy is any kind of stuffed animal or bone. Little Man`s favorite place to sleep is in bed or in his crate. He knows commands such as sit, stay, off, shake and his name. He is said to be house and crate trained and will let you know when he needs to go outside. plays fetch. will search for toys when they are hidden.15/15/24: Got P out to vaccinate, did amazing for restraint and vaccine. But P did hard eye and stiff body approach neighboring dog and was difficult to disengage/distract. Do not recommend as dog friendly--HB

Story
There are some dogs that just speak to you. We first "met" Bennie when we saw he was listed for euthanasia at an overcrowded shelter a few weeks ago. His eyes just spoke to us and we knew we had to help...but sadly we didn't have any open fosters. So, we reached out for help in finding him a foster and thankfully an amazing foster family stepped up for him and helped us give Bennie his second chance! Upon welcoming Bennie to our rescue, we were quite surprised to learn this boy had ears for days! In his shelter photos, he had them down, probably because he was nervous and unsure of his fate. The minute he was sprung we discovered that he tends to always have them up and boy is he CUTE! Bennie is one of those dogs that you do not want to miss out on, let me tell ya. Bennie is around 2 years old, 68lbs, and believed to be a White German Shepherd mix. Ah, the big question... "How does Bennie do with cats and other dogs?" Well, folks, the suspense is real, but unfortunately, we can't give you that info as there are none in his foster home! We know, we know, you're all on the edge of your seat for that info. But here’s the good news: Bennie is currently being fostered around kids, and he’s absolutely crushing it! He’s gentle, sweet, and totally up for some fun playtime too. So while we can’t answer the whole “doggie social circle” mystery, we can confidently say he’s a fantastic kiddo companion! When Bennie meets new people, he’s like the cool, calm, and collected guest at a party who takes a moment to observe before making his grand entrance. He’s reserved at first, but once he gets the vibe, he’s all about that one-on-one attention. He’ll politely lean in, sit down in front of you, and give you the “I’m ready for pets” signal—because what’s better than a good petting session, right? He’s the dog equivalent of a relaxed, well-mannered guest who just wants to hang out and enjoy the love. No rushing, just pure chill and charm! Leash walks with Bennie are like a mini adventure every time! The moment that leash comes out, he practically starts doing a happy dance. He’s got a little bit of a zig-zagging style—think less "straight line" and more "choose your own path!" He may need a bit of help with his leash manners, as he tends to pull but honestly, with so much to explore and see, who can blame him? It's all part of the fun, right? ;) As for public outings, Bennie has been more of a homebody of late. His foster family hopes to take him out soon and see how he does, but for now we can say that Bennie is basically the definition of "cozy homebody." He’s all about lounging around and enjoying the simple pleasures of life—whether that’s taking a nap on the couch or just hanging out with his humans. He’s got zero complaints about chilling indoors, so if you’re into Netflix binges, snacks, and a snuggly companion, Bennie is your guy. Just add some belly rubs and he’s good to go! Bennie’s overall temperament is the perfect mix of playful and chill—he’s like the ultimate balance between an adventure buddy and a couch potato. Outside, he’s all about playtime, with some occasional zoomies thrown in for good measure (because why not run like a maniac every once in a while?). But once he’s back inside, he’s the picture of calm and laid-back vibes, ready for some quiet cuddles or a nice nap. He LOVES his toys and will happily entertain himself with them, though if you throw a ball, don’t count on it making its way back to you... he’s more of a “chase it, then casually walk away” kind of guy. But hey, at least he’s having fun right?! As far as living in an apartment goes, Bennie is more of a “space to roam” kind of guy, so an apartment might not be the best fit for him. While he’s calm and laid-back inside, he’s got a playful side that really needs room to run around....and zoomies and furniture don’t always mix well. He’s the type who loves his outdoor adventures, and small spaces might cramp his style. If you’re living in an apartment, you’ll need to be ready for frequent walks and outdoor playtime to keep his happy, energetic side satisfied. Bennie’s house manners are those of a pup who’s still figuring out this whole “indoor living” thing—because, let’s be real, it’s all new to him! He’s likely getting his first taste of cozy, indoor life, and he’s handling it like a champ. That being said, he still needs to stick to a solid routine and be let out frequently, or he might have the occasional “oops” moment. But don’t worry—when it’s time to go outside, Bennie’s a total pro! He knows exactly what you expect of him. Bennie hasn’t needed to be kenneled. However, he’s fully accustomed to free-roaming the house, and let’s just say, he handles it with as much perfection as his adorable ears are! He’s got a good sense of what’s off-limits and knows how to enjoy his freedom like a true champ. Now, those crinkle toys? Totally unfair! How is he supposed to resist when babies have the same kind of toy that makes that irresistible crinkle sound? It’s like a trap! So, Bennie might have accidentally snatched up a baby’s toy for a quick chew session—but honestly, he was just set up for failure (wink, wink). I mean, how could he resist? It’s practically a puppy’s duty to investigate those irresistible sounds! Bennie takes his role as the family’s official lookout very seriously. When he’s outside, he’s on high alert, making sure everyone knows he’s the self-appointed protector of the yard. He’s not shy about warning any suspicious leaves, nosy crickets, or sneaky squirrels that they better keep their distance—he’s got a job to do, and nothing’s getting past him! Consider the yard fully protected with Bennie on patrol. So, whatcha think? Could this eartastic boy be the one you have been looking for? If so, be sure to submit an adoption app with us! Remember, Bennie has already played the role of an "until" dog and it almost cost him his life. So, if you Bennie gives you his heart be sure to guard it with your life...because he will be your most loyal and loveable companion around! Bennie is currently living the good life in Choctaw, OK, and just a heads up—we don’t send our fluffy butts on transports! So, if you’re ready for a road trip full of Bennie kisses and a whole lot of adorable ears in the rearview mirror, then what are you waiting for? Apply for Bennie today and get ready for an adventure with this lovable goofball!
