He really just wants to be anyone's best friend whether it be human or canine!   About Me: Hi! I'm Knox. When my foster mom came to pick me up she kept saying "he's so big" I quickly showed her that I am more of a koala bear stuck in a giraffes body. She then told me I was a "good boy" when I hopped in the truck and slept for our hour drive to my new house.    Once we arrived I was greeted by a human brother and we had a great time playing tug o war I liked him so much I gave him a tail wagging kiss on his hand. I'm not picky about who gives me ear and belly scratches because they are my favorite.    I was sad when my human brother left but then I got to meet my new canine sisters and oh boy did I have a blast running around the yard with them. I think I could run around with them all day if my foster mom would let me. She said "you all need a nap" and then brought me to this thing she was calling a crate. I have never been in one before but thought I would try it out since it had a treat and a blanket in there. I slept soundly for a whole hour in there!! This is all so new to me and I am learning lots of things fast because I get a little treat and told that I am a "good boy". My new foster mom keeps saying that I am "just about perfect" and I am excited to show my new family that I am.     February 25, 2025, 7:57 pm

Story
Name: Shep Age: 1 year Gender: male Breed: Shepherd/Collie mix Weight: 55 lbs Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: yes Child friendly: yes House trained: yes Crate trained: yes Energy level: Moderate Temperament: sweet, snuggly, docile, easygoing, intelligent, alert   Requirement: Not apartment appropriate but could be in a condo or duplex Adoption Fee: $400+tax To adopt, go to:   www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html   From the Foster Family:  Shep or Sheppy as we call him, came to us from a rescue in Tennessee. He was found wandering outside near an airport. His wonderful and patient rescue mama wouldn't give up on him and finally coaxed him to come to her.  We were lucky enough to be able to speak with this great lady who took him in to learn all about him.  His markings and colorings are beautiful. Notice the heart on his face?  It's as big as the heart in his chest.    Shep loves to be around humans and other dogs.  He is quiet, reserved, and just wants to be part of the group.  He wants to be your buddy! He loves the outdoors and is easily getting used to walking on a leash. He enjoyed playing in the snow for the short time he could before it melted.  We are working on basic commands like sit and come.    He's not much for treats or toys, yet. Unless it is a Nylabone with peanut butter. He loves pets and belly rubs the most. He'd sit by you for hours if you just give him love and attention. Shep is one of those "Once in a Lifetime" kind of dogs, he's simply perfect in every single way!   He enjoys walking with his foster sister, Nova, a yellow lab.  He is currently living with 2 other female dogs and is fitting right in. Sometimes they even wrestle! Right now he is trying to figure out what dog bed he likes the best. He has done well going for car rides, sitting handsomely on the seat, and looking out the window.   At his previous foster home in Tennessee, he had a 5- year- old girl whom he adored.    About Me:   Hi! My name is Shep and I just got here from Tennessee.  I had a great foster mama who took wonderful care of me, but thought I'd find my furever home here in Minnesota.  I was the first one she let go from her care to Mending Spirits (so don't let her down). I love the outdoors and like to play.  I'm learning to sit and come when called, but it's new for me, so be patient.  Going for walks is wonderful because there are so many smells and trees for me to investigate and water! I love being by your side, but I know I need my own space too.  I don't mind being in my crate-so if you have to go to work, I'll be ok. But don't think I'm not going to love you up when you come home.   Are you my furever family? I'd love to meet you!   February 27, 2025, 2:32 pm
