Story
Happy is one of those types of dogs that continues to view life as the glass half full. This pup joined MHCR a couple months ago at around 6-7 months of age. She found herself on death row in Texas at a high intake/high kill shelter. Once Happy got settled into foster care, it became very apparent she had sustained quite a bit of trauma in her life prior to rescue. Happy sustained a traumatic injury to her back leg as a young pup that had fully healed before she got to us. This injury possibly involved the growth plate, which has resulted in the leg being a little bit shorter than her other leg. Luckily, the orthopedic surgeons she has seen feel she is just about fully grown so this leg shouldn’t pose too large of a problem. After she had settled in for a couple of weeks, we noticed she was painful and limping on her front legs. More work up revealed she had a fractured coronoid process. What the heck is that? It’s a tiny little piece of the elbow. Happy had surgery for this and she’s recovering beautifully! Happy has many shepherd-like characteristics and the brindle in her coat lead us to believe she is a Dutch Shepherd mix. She’s very smart, eager to please, affectionate, and loyal. Happy is petite at 42 lbs! She rides beautifully in the car, eats her meals in her crate, is house trained and enjoys days at the office with her foster mom. Happy is dog friendly after a proper intro. She particularly likes the Belgian Malinois she’s in foster with. She’s best suited with a derpy, playful, confident personality type canine companion. However, she’d be perfectly content as an only dog, as well. Happy LOVES stuffie toys and will blissfully surround herself with her favorites and quietly entertain herself. Due to her orthopedic issues since joining our care, Happy hasn’t spent much time mastering her leash skills. Happy is in foster in Fort Collins, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/happy You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.

Story
Sicily is a 1-year-old, beautiful, Dutch shepherd mix. She is only about 33 pounds currently and needs to gain a little bit of weight, but she will stay a nice medium size, making her the perfect adventure buddy. Sicily was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas, where she was picked up as a stray. She was very scared and timid in the shelter and was sadly euthanasia listed for space. Sicily is a healthy, sweet, fun, silly, playful puppy who loves living life now. Though she doesn’t know much in terms of manners yet, she is smart, food motivated, human focused, and wanting to learn anything and everything she can. She is a complete sponge. She will do best in a home with a fenced yard and owners ready for adventures, training, and enrichment. She also would enjoy dog friends. She loves to play and is a beautiful runner! Sicily is being fostered in Fort Collins, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/sicily/. Timber is excited to spend his retirement years as your one and only! He can be insecure around new dogs, so HSBV is requiring he be the only pet in his new home. He adores his people and greets them with a smile and wiggle. Due to his tender personality, HSBV will only rehome him to a family with children aged 10 and older. Come meet this lovely boy today!

Story
Jack is a loving and smart boy! He survived being hit by a car, suffering two broken legs, but is the fastest little man you know. He enjoys life to the fullest playing and running in the yard with his foster family including their 3 dogs & 2 kids. He is receiving physical therapy as well as adequan therapy, and both his legs are gaining mobility, he may never have full use of his back legs, but he gets around so well already and still has therapy to undergo! He is a dog that will need some special care for a bit, but he will repay with loving kisses and cuddles. He is very smart and easy to manage. We would love for someone to foster to adopt him, so they can fall in love, or an adoption if you're sure he's a fit! Jack is house trained, has a microchip already, is fixed, fully vaccinated and has his adequan and physical therapy covered through yoga animals rescue foundation! If you're looking for a special life guy to brighten up your day Jack is your boy!October 10, 2024, 12:17 am

Story
Meet Becca! This beautiful girl is ready to find her forever home! Bonus: we're pretty sure her satellite ears get all the local channels. From her current foster: "Becca has been getting better every day! She loves to play fetch, go in the car, lay in your lap and chew on toys. She is very protective of her people and takes a bit to adjust to new people. She has worked a lot on getting used to men and passing cars. She is just a big puppy that doesn't know how big she is. She settles down in her kennel really good and sleeps all night. Becca is really good at sitting and listening to commands when you have her focus, She really is a love bug!! "We have lovingly nick named Becca as Bumble B. B will come when you call, sit and lay down. She is crate trained (barking/whinning is a test if you will really leave her in there and subsides quickly once comfortable in the home). B LOVES; playing with other dogs, splashing in her water bowl, chasing sprinklers, a good game of tug-o-war, and getting all the attention. She will provide you with tons of love and laughs free of charge. However, B will protect you fiercely. She has stranger danger and does not want anyone in her home that she thinks doesn't belong (A shower does make you a new person, but for only a moment). I would not list her as cat friendly at this time, and with kids I would be cautious. We had one nip (no broken skin) but since then we have had zeros issues biting intentionally. She is still a puppy meaning she can be mouthy, and no toes are not off limits. This silly Bumble B needs someone as special as her. Someone who will take the time to work through her fears, and provide her with the stability/structure she needs! Her previous foster says that "Becca has become a cuddle enthusiast. She's learned "sit and "come. She's still working on potty training but is having fewer and fewer accidents indoors. She sleeps in the bed with us and sleeps through the night with no potty accidents. She chases cars but we're working on that. She's overcome her fear of strangers! She also plays well with other dogs. She will definitely need a home that can provide lots of exercise and stimulation. She's a very smart girl but requires a lot of patience because she's mischievous haha."
