Story
Obie (short for Old Boy) is a sweet old boy looking for a comfy couch to call his own. He has a beautiful fluffy coat that he enjoys a nice brushing of. Obie is a quiet and dignified couch potato. He is fine with everyone but particularly loves men. He loves ear scratches and a nice snooze. Obie is currently on medication for seizures. He takes this medication twice a day and it has greatly reduced his occurrence of seizures. He takes his medications easily if hidden in cream cheese, sour cream or yogurt. Obie is house trained with a doggie door right now. He enjoys spending his afternoons outside relaxing. He can be scared by loud things like fireworks but has done well with CBD as needed for this very specific anxiety. Obie does not really care for treats or toys. Treats he has enjoyed for training include lamb roast, mashed potatoes and eggs. He thinks vegetables are yucky. He seems to have been new to dog food but has taken to it well with some patience. Obie previously lived with another large dog and got along well with her. She would even snap at him sometimes and he would not really react. He simply wanted to be her friend. We also believe Obie will be fine with mannerly children. He has met toddlers and takes care to not knock them over. When meeting cats indoors, Obie was excited but did not necessarily exhibit high prey drive. He allowed his foster mom to call him back as she removed the cat. When he sees cats outdoors he like to try to chase them, though this is true of most dogs (even those that live with cats). All Better World Rescue dogs qualify for private and/or group training at no additional cost to help ensure a successful adoption. To meet Obie, fill out our short adoption application: www.betterworldrescue.org/adoption-application Once an application is filled out, our volunteers will reach out to you within one business day to answer any questions and schedule a meet and greet.

12/16/24 01:46Doggy Day Out Report:Today I got to go on Doggie Day Out! I was patient while my friend harnessed me and was ready to go on an adventure with the help of a boost into the car. My new friend took me to a busy park where there was so much to see, I couldn’t take it all in fast enough! I needed to stop and absorb all the sights and moving parts. My friend thought I’d enjoy myself more somewhere quieter, so she took me on a nice long walk in a neighborhood. I loved my long walk! There was a lot to see and smell and observe. I walked nicely on the leash and passed people and dogs politely. Afterwards, my friend surprised me with a tasty pup cup! Three Words to Describe Me are: Sweet, Gentle, CuriousNotes from My Walker: I had a nice day with Rosie! She’s a beautiful, sweet girl. She was excited to get going, but fairly easy to harness. She was interested in the car but needed a boost onto the seat and then sat and looked out the front window. We started at Almaden Lake Park, but the very busy trail was a bit too much for Roxie and she wanted to constantly stop and observe all the movement. We opted for a neighborhood walk and that was much more her speed! She walks nicely on the harness and passes people and dogs politely. She’s very curious and wants to observe everything that moves. She checked in regularly and leans against you for pets. Roxie would love a home to continue to expose her to the great big world! She’s a sweet, social girl with people and dogs and would make a great companion.

Story
Lucille is a 4-year female Dutch Shepherd mix, about 70 pounds, and might just be the softest dog in the world! She loves to cuddle with her humans, shred cardboard boxes, and play with hoses. She's sweet, loyal, and affectionate, though can be shy at first with new people. Once she warms up to you, she is so loving and appreciates spending quality time together. Lucille thrives in a household with structure and routine and is used to being left at home while her humans are at work, etc. She is smart, learns quickly, is housebroken, leash-trained, has some crate training, and knows basic commands (sit, stay, down, touch, leave it, paw, come, place). Lucille likes long walks but is not high-energy. She has anxiety that is well-managed with a daily established medication regimen. She will do best being the single pet in a household, which is the only reason why she needs a new home that is a better fit for her. We will discuss subsidizing some meds and potential training with applicants.

**Julius needs a new foster or adopter ASAP as his current foster is losing her housing. He is dog and kid-friendly. Transport is available within the continental US for serious adopters.** Hi I’m Julius, and my foster mom says I’m very cute, sweet and cuddly, but also still very much an energetic pup. Check out my video playlist! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVb0fq1O6CwmaayP3fyi24mpj4iyqlji1 Julius was saved from the euthanasia list at Stanislaus Shelter. Now in foster care, Julius has been getting some much needed love and attention. Julius loves to play with his toys and cuddle, he is also known to give kisses when he is particularly happy. Julius has done well with both male and female dogs. Julius loves attention and will do almost anything for a delicious treat. Julius has so far gotten along with all dogs he has met. He is also such a good boy in the car and has done great on long car rides. Julius is a very excitable and high energy dog but also very smart. He learned sit, down, off and paw very rapidly while in foster care. All Better World Rescue dogs qualify for private and/or group training sessions to help ensure a successful adoption. Julius has decent recall and walks well on the leash. Julius is also crate trained and house-trained. Julius is neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. Story
Blue is a high energy sweetie with the much coveted off switch often missing among her kind. Blue loves to play all the time and needs regular mental stimulation. Want a dog that will sing for her supper? Look no further! The only time Blue gets vocal is when she is excited for her dinner. This little girl is food-motivated and eager to please! Blue is crate-trained and house-trained. She knows sit and stay. Blue is working on walking well on leash as she get a bit excited. Blue also gets a little mouthy when over-excited but it is all in play, there really is not a mean bone in her whole body. Blue loves meeting children and other dogs. Blue does okay with little animals, but they are generally overwhelmed by her size and energy. Blue loves long walks/hikes, playing with other dogs, and keep away games. Her favorite toys are squeaky stuffed toys and rubber toys. Blue is spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccinations. All Better World Rescue dogs qualify for complimentary private and/or group training to help ensure a successful adoption. Story
Isla is a beautiful White German Shepherd who loves to play and run. She would love an athletic family to take her out for fun and adventures. Isla loves swimming, training sessions, grooming time and tug of war. Her favorite game by far though is keep away and she can play that game for hours! Isla is very friendly with people and does great with children! She can get over excited when meeting other dogs, and has prey drive towards cats, so at this time she is recommended to be an only dog. With slow introductions she may do well with another friendly dog. Isla is super smart and curious and is always ready to serve her humans to the best of her ability. She does great with training and picks up new skills quickly. Isla is currently working on her quiet voice when around other dogs and also to ignore the all-too tempting kitties. Isla is spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. All Better World Rescue dogs qualify for complimentary private and/or group training to help ensure a successful adoption.
