Story
HI -I'M NOMI! I'm a 5-year-old lovely Dutch Shepherd-Pit mix in need of a foster or forever home. My name means "beautiful" and "delightful" and it is so fitting, because I have a gorgeous brindle coat and a sweet face. I was rescued from a California shelter, and now have been waiting patiently for someone to notice me! I am gentle with people, and am friendly with most dogs, though I can get jealous at times. I would probably thrive as an only dog where I could get all of the attention, or hang out with a submissive male. I weigh 68 pounds. I would love a new home this year! Can you foster or adopt me? Please email for an application.

Story
Bentley is a 1.5-year old male Dutch Shepherd mix youngster (most likely Belgian Malinois) who was picked up as a stray by Stanislaus Animal Services. This poor puppy was so traumatized at the time of intake, but is now safe with rescue in a wonderful foster home, where he can decompress and begin to feel safe and loved.  Bentley is a sweet little boy, and didn’t hesitate to come to our volunteer upon first greeting.  He is now fully crate trained, and does well with other dogs. Initially, he was very shy when meeting other dogs, but has become a pretty confident pup, and loves to run and play.  His first night in his foster home, he slept in his crate all night with no issues. He loves his people and at times wants to be right next to you, waiting for pets and lovin. Bentley will require a committed and loving human who will make him a part of the family, providing the care and attention that every young pup needs. Only older dog-savvy children 8 and above in an adoptive home will be considered. It will be necessary for an adopter to have recent successful experience in raising a GSD, Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherd, or other large breed working puppy. An adopter who will begin and continue his obedience training based upon positive reinforcement is recommended, including positive steps to discourage unwanted behavior, to ensure he remains on the path of a well-behaved canine companion. We are currently screening applications for the best possible fit. ##1805152##

Story
Ronnie is a loving, loyal and obedient 2 year old dutch shephard who is being raised with my 3 children ranging in age from 4 - 14. She was found on our doorstep when she was ~5 weeks old and we've been raising her ever since with our lab / ridgeback mix who is 3 years old. She generally plays well with our other dog but does display dominance over her and can be rough with her.

Story
Kinzie is the spunkiest, smartest, most energetic girl! She spent most of her life in the shelter but thanks to CBR saving her you wouldn’t even know it. She’s so intelligent, even just one training session with her she picks up so much! Her leash skills are great, she loves her crate, and is fully potty trained! Kinzie loves being outside, and would do great in an active home wanting to walk, run, or hike daily. She can be a little shy at first with new people, but feed her a treat and she warms up quickly. She’s fiercely loyal to her people and loves to please them. She loves affection and will do anything to earn your touch! She’s working on her jumping, so would probably be best in a home with adults only or older children. Kinzie is the sweetest girl and would love to be a part of your home!

Story
MEET GRACE & KATIE, two beautiful, sweet & bonded black German Shepherds! Both of these lovely girls were rescued from a crowded California shelter, and they are very bonded. They have been waiting over a year for a home together. Grace & Katie are good with other dogs and lovely with people. Grace, the mama dog, is about 5-6 years old, and Katie is a 2-year-old girl now and growing up! Both girls have also done fairly well around cats but would need to be monitored. Katie weighs about 60-65 lbs, and Grace weighs about 71-75 lbs. They've waited a long time for a home because we are trying to place them together, so if you can open your home to two dogs, please email for an application. They also need a foster! Story
Meet Prince, a handsome, jet black, herding-type dog. This shy guy is growing more comfortable in the Shelter environment by the day and in turn making new friends (both human and canine). Staff have observed that Prince brightens up and really shows his adolescent, playful self when around other dogs. He is a regular in the dog-enrichment program `walking buddies` where Shelter dogs go on walking adventures with other canines to learn how to interact with other dogs out in the world. Due to the positive effect other dogs have on Prince – a home with another dog is highly recommended for Prince. Once he is relaxed and comfortable, Prince has melts into people when petting. Prince has a lot of “yeses” for his next home including walks, play and treats but there is one “no” and that is cats. From March 10th to March 17th, this dog’s adoption fee is reduced to $50 during the Get Lucky Adoption Special. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day.
