Story
Obie (short for Old Boy) is a sweet old boy looking for a comfy couch to call his own. He has a beautiful fluffy coat that he enjoys a nice brushing of. Obie is a quiet and dignified couch potato. He is fine with everyone but particularly loves men. He loves ear scratches and a nice snooze. Obie is currently on medication for seizures. He takes this medication twice a day and it has greatly reduced his occurrence of seizures. He takes his medications easily if hidden in cream cheese, sour cream or yogurt. Obie is house trained with a doggie door right now. He enjoys spending his afternoons outside relaxing. He can be scared by loud things like fireworks but has done well with CBD as needed for this very specific anxiety. Obie does not really care for treats or toys. Treats he has enjoyed for training include lamb roast, mashed potatoes and eggs. He thinks vegetables are yucky. He seems to have been new to dog food but has taken to it well with some patience. Obie currently lives with another large dog and gets along well with her. She will even snap at him sometimes and he will not really react. He simply wants to be her friend. We also believe Obie will be fine with mannerly children. He has met toddlers and takes care to not knock them over. When meeting cats indoors, Obie was excited but did not necessarily exhibit high prey drive. He allowed his foster mom to call him back as she removed the cat. When he sees cats outdoors he like to try to chase them, though this is true of most dogs (even those that live with cats). All Better World Rescue dogs qualify for private and/or group training at no additional cost to help ensure a successful adoption. To meet Obie, fill out our short adoption application: www.betterworldrescue.org/adoption-application Once an application is filled out, our volunteers will reach out to you within one business day to answer any questions and schedule a meet and greet.

Story
This animal is available at: Sonoma County Animal Services (707) 565-7100 PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT NORTH BAY Duke A427772   Located At: Sonoma County Animal Services   Description: I am a neutered male, black Dutch Shepherd mix.   Age: I am estimated to be about 1 year and 2 months old.   Weight: I weigh approximately 68 pounds.   More Info: I have been at the shelter since Jul 13, 2024.   Meet Duke, a charming mixed breed brimming with potential! When he is first introduced, he greets with an enthusiastic wag of his tail, but sometimes his nerves kick, revealing his sweet but timid nature. Once leashed, Duke hesitates, pulling back slightly in his kennel, yet he walks nicely with a bit of gentle encouragement, occasionally stopping to take in his surroundings. Affectionate and responsive, he comes up for pets and allows handling, though he is easily distracted by the sights and sounds around him. While he shows curiosity about toys, he doesn’t quite engage with them just yet. Duke remains calm during food interactions and initially displays some apprehension when meeting another dog, but soon relaxes into friendly sniffing. With continued socialization and training, Duke is sure to thrive and become a wonderful companion for a patient and loving adopter ready to help him build his confidence.  For more information about this animal, call:Sonoma County Animal Services at (707) 565-71001247 Century Court, Santa Rosa Tuesday - Saturday12:00 - 5:00 p.m.Adoptions are processed until 4:30 p.m.October 27, 2024, 11:17 pm

Story
Meet Maybelline Makeup - The happiest and most resilient pup you'll ever meet   Age: 10 Months Breed: German Shepard Mix (Possibly part English Bull Terrier) Size: Medium (27lbs)   Maybelline came to us through the most unfortunate of circumstances and may be one of the worst abuse cases we've ever seen. She was confiscated from her owners with multiple broken ribs, a broken femur, a broken jaw, and a broken back. She also was diagnosed with brain injuries and was left completely blind due to her injuries. She was lethargic and in extremely bad shape. Luckily, with the amazing care of Antioch Animal Services and the East Bay VCA, she was able to make huge strides towards recovery. They reached out several months ago and asked us to take her into our Rescue and give her time to heal.   When an animal goes through what Maybelline has been through they are typically very scared and shy animals. That is NOT Maybelline. This strong and resilient girl is as happy as can be. She is constantly wearing a big bright smile and wagging her big bushy tail. She LOVES people‍‍ and loves belly scratches even more. She is the sweetest girl in the world. Because of her blindness and brain injuries she does have a hard time getting around. Maybelline tends to wobble when she walks due to her spinal injury and often loses her footing resulting in her falling over. We have found that she does really well with boots on her back feet.   Maybelline is great with cats (mostly because she can't see them). She is very friendly with other dogs. Smaller breeds must be protected around her as she tends to trample them since she walks very chaotically and can't see where she is going. She also should be watched around small children for the same reason. She loves to chew on toys and bones and absolutely loves to play. Potty training has been a big challenge because of her obvious cognitive and physical challenges. With the right amount of attention and training she may be able to figure it out, and she also may never be capable of figuring it out. But we have benefitted greatly through the use of diapers. Her diet has been great and she loves food. She doesn't go on typical walks but loves to go to the park where she can sniff around and explore at her own pace.   Maybelline has been through so much but she is one big ball of love who is begging for the family she deserves. We can't change her past but hopefully we can give her a future full of love and care. What she needs is a patient person who will allow and accept her to be her unique and beautiful self. Not only will you be rewarded in all the kisses you can stand but her heart is so big you will never feel like anything less than the most important and loved person in the entire world by this sweet girl.   If you are interested in adding this amazing, special and deserving girl into your family, please send us an email to beourpet@gmail.com . She is being fostered in Sacramento CA.    We are on all social media at @umbrellaofhope and we invite you to follow us and share which helps more people see and adopt our pets.  To help our ALL VOLUNTEER team rescue more senior, special needs, medically needy and hospice animals (and a few 'typical' ones along the way, please consider making a tax-deductible (TAX ID 45-4103375) donation online at www.paypal.me/UOH or Venmo @umbrellaof-hoperescue or Zelle beourpet@gmail.com.   You can also buy tees, tanks. sweatshirts, hats and bandannas where all proceeds benefit our animals https://ruff-life-rescue-wear.myshopify.com/collections/umbrella-of-hope We also have an Etsy store where the merchandise is made by volunteers and supporters, changes regularly and 100% of the proceeds benefit our medical fund https://www.etsy.com/shop/Umbrellaofhope Amazon Wish List tinyurl.com/pineapplewish  October 15, 2024, 4:32 pm
