Story
Kirby is a two year old Dutch Shepherd Mix that is looking for a job! He loves to play with his toy and hang out with his handler. Kirby has experience in nosework type situations and would be an excellent candidate for someone wanting to pursue that!

Story
Hi! My name is Lucky and I am just turning about a year old! I had a rough start in life and landed in the shelter with two broken legs...no one knows how! But I am now learning all about training. I am so eager to learn! I love to play with my toys. I am going through rehab to strengthen my legs although you would never be able to tell what happened to me, thanks to UC Davis! Did I mention I love my toys and to work? I would love to learn and do some "soft" sports like Nosework or maybe Rally or just be an amazing family companion!

To apply or see more of Archie, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2023/12/12/archie WE ARE LOOKING FOR A FOSTER, FOSTER TO ADOPT OR ADOPTER ASAP! PLEASE complete our foster or adoption form to get started! Already have an app on file? Email info@heartsforpawsrescue.com Hello there. I'm Archie, the strikingly handsome 5.5-year-old mixed breed on a quest to find my special forever home. I'm this unique mix (staffy, border collie, shep, and more) creating a perfect blend of awesome. Yeah, I'm a bit of a super mutt, and my good looks are just the beginning. I have the potential to be a wonderful soul dog and loyal best friend. But here's the scoop – I'm not your typical social butterfly. Interacting with strangers or socializing at house parties? No thank you. I'm more of a one-on-one kind of pup. Now, let's talk about my journey. I was adopted through HFP when I was just a pup, around 4 months old. Life was good, but sometimes things change, and my family had to make a tough decision. You see, I felt a bit uneasy around the toddler in the home, and it led to a subsequent bite. But here's the silver lining – I have so much love and loyalty to offer. If you're okay with a dog that prefers a quieter, more laid-back lifestyle, I could be your perfect match. I may not be the life of the party, but I'll be your rock, your confidant, your loyal companion. Together, we can create a bond that goes beyond the need for constant socializing. From the humans: Archie is still a GREAT dog with many wonderful qualities and will be an amazing addition to the right person/environment: Kid-free, quieter adult home Currently lives with cats Treat and toy motivated Has done well meeting dogs with proper intros (would not recommend dogs in the home due to resource guarding); while Archie is not a “dog park dog” — (please note HFP does not recommend dog parks for dog-socialization) — he has done well meeting and interacting with friendly dogs and has a small-dog friend he does well with! House-trained; no separation anxiety Moderate activity level; perfect combo of playful and couch potato Loves balls and this comes in handy when introducing new people to Archie; after slow proper intros, tossing the ball with Archie becomes a fun way to bond with him. People should be instructed to go slow — first ignore, not reach or pet, respect his body language throughout — luckily treats and balls help win Archie’s heart over within a few minutes! “Archie does totally fine unattended in the house for long periods of time (~8 hours is no problem) — we make sure he goes potty before we leave, and we make sure he has access to his bed, water and some chewies while we’re gone” Archie has done puppy training in the past - his impressive list of cues includes Sit, Down, Place (he goes to his bed/designated place), Paw (shake), Do Your Business, and Wait (when you want him to sit when putting his food down, etc.) Healthy with no physical issues or concerns Enjoys long walks where he can sniff everything and playing fetch with balls and sticks! He is a little too into rocks (so a rock-free backyard would be ideal) “Archie is a world-class snuggler (he likes to be little spoon!), an all-star fetcher, and also a giant couch potato. He loves his people SO much, and everyone who gets to know him thinks he is just the sweetest, most fun boy. We want him to find the best home possible - he truly deserves it!” The ideal home for Archie is calm and low-stress, without kids and other dogs. The home has a (ideally, rock-free) backyard and is in a low foot traffic area. His owners are loving, patient, and dog-savvy -- they can continue to invest in Archie's training and help him be successful when being introduced to new people. He is in a home with lots of treats, balls, and snuggles! Archie’s adoption donation is SPONSORED with an available $200 voucher from HFP towards enrolling with a certified trainer to get started on the right foot! Archie is currently being fostered in FAIR OAKS, CA. DOB around 9/13/2018 Interested in adopting? 1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application 2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call! 3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Please only submit an application for a specific dog if you are ready to adopt that animal within a week's time. Follow facebook.com/heartsforpawsrescue & Instagram @heartsforpawsrescue for more! Story
We love Petal and we know you will too! Petal is a 6-month-old lovebug who is excited to be your newest best friend. She loves cuddles and will never turn down some playtime with her favorite people. She is an affectionate girl who loves to give kisses. Petal currently weighs  around 50lbs and likely will be at least 60-70lbs when fully grown. Petal was born in foster care with her 8 sisters after her mom, Daffodil, was found as a pregnant stray. An owner never came forward, so the puppies were born in foster care and separated into foster homes as pairs when weaned. Petal is the last of her litter to be adopted.  One of Petal's sisters was DNA tested and the results came back as German shepherd, Australian shepherd, and American bully. Petal is a smart girl who is eager to learn, especially if treats are involved. She is looking for a moderately active family who can provide her with daily exercise and mental enrichment. She is surprisingly mellow for a puppy and  has been doing great learning all her basic manners. H er new family will need to be dedicated to continuing her training and socialization.  Due to her size, Petal would do best with a family who has large dog experience. Petal currently lives in a foster home with other dogs and she would love another playful medium/large dog in her new home. Petal has met a cat before and seems like she could do well living with dog-savvy cats in her new home with a slow introduction and proper supervision.  Petal has done great with all the kids she has met and  could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 10 years and older. Petal has been doing well with her housetraining, but she is still learning and her new family will need to be consistent about her house training. She has done well being crated overnight and in a pen with her sister when home alone. She hasn't spent too much time by herself, so she would need a family who can slowly get her acclimated to being home alone. Petal is a charming girl who can't wait to start her life with her forever family. If you think that might just be you, submit an adoption application today!   Petal 's adoption fee is $400.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. October 3, 2024, 4:46 pm
