Max, neutered male, 1-year-old, 38-lbs If you would like to give Max a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application Meet Max! Max is a mellow and cheerful young pup with loving nature. He is close to humans, always greet people with a big smile and non-stop wagging tail and hip. He is super smart and aimed to please, so is easy to train. Around the house he obeys rules, has good judgement, and good self-discipline. He waits patiently before eating his food, before going thru doorways, and when getting in and out of the car. He checks-in often with his human, sitting very still and gazing up politely. He loves the head/tummy rubs and cuddling that follows. He loves to eat and gets excited before taking a walk, but will heed to command well. Max is crate trained to sleep overnight and potty trained to go outside. His favorite pastime is his daily walks, and romping around with doggie friends in the park. Please watch his videos below to learn more about this goofy boy! Story
This animal is available at: Sonoma County Animal Services (707) 565-7100 PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT NORTH BAY Duke A427772   Located At: Sonoma County Animal Services   Description: I am a neutered male, black Dutch Shepherd mix.   Age: I am estimated to be about 1 year and 2 months old.   Weight: I weigh approximately 68 pounds.   More Info: I have been at the shelter since Jul 13, 2024.   Meet Duke, a charming mixed breed brimming with potential! When he is first introduced, he greets with an enthusiastic wag of his tail, but sometimes his nerves kick, revealing his sweet but timid nature. Once leashed, Duke hesitates, pulling back slightly in his kennel, yet he walks nicely with a bit of gentle encouragement, occasionally stopping to take in his surroundings. Affectionate and responsive, he comes up for pets and allows handling, though he is easily distracted by the sights and sounds around him. While he shows curiosity about toys, he doesn’t quite engage with them just yet. Duke remains calm during food interactions and initially displays some apprehension when meeting another dog, but soon relaxes into friendly sniffing. With continued socialization and training, Duke is sure to thrive and become a wonderful companion for a patient and loving adopter ready to help him build his confidence.  For more information about this animal, call:Sonoma County Animal Services at (707) 565-71001247 Century Court, Santa Rosa Tuesday - Saturday12:00 - 5:00 p.m.Adoptions are processed until 4:30 p.m.October 27, 2024, 11:17 pm

Story
10/31/24 10:48Reason animal needs rescue: Has been in shelter over 90 days and improved drastically but is still looked over.Type: Length of StayImpound type: StrayAdditional notes: When Velma came in initially, she was very fearful. Volunteers and staff spent time helping her build confidence by having her in dog playgroups and doing lots of positive reinforcement. She has come very far and she deserves to go to a home after being here since June.08/19/24 14:59Dog behavior has improved. Inside of kennel when split from other dog inside of kennel, I am able to leash as she is now approaching the kennel door and bows her head to get leashed and is no longer biting at leash or displaying any aggressive behavior. She does not hesitate to come out of kennel and once she was outside I was able to do a full and invasive handling. She did well with me checking her teeth, pickiing up her front and back paw, checking and pulling her ears, petting her stomach and even allowed me to pick her up . She seeks attention when called with a low tail wag, a submissive head bow, a relaxed mouth and calm eyes. When walking around she ignored other dogs barking at her and just sniffed around with a calm body posture. LB07/09/24 15:58Since sharing a kennel with other dog has been getting better inside the kennel, comes when called and will lick hand. When I split them up and tried to leash her by herself her behavior went back to biting, striking, and jumping at leash. She eventually was leashed and froze again and did not want to getout of kennel. I then left the leash on and lifted the divider so the other dog can calm her down. I then split them up and tried to pull her out again and she went out without an issue, walked around and sniffed. I did basic petting and put dog back. Use caution when leashing. LB07/02/24 08:27ON June 27, Dog was at back of kennel, trying to bite leash when I tossed it in first time, shaking, lip licking, puckeing lips. Had to lasso to leash and once leashed she freezes and did not want to move out of kennel. Showed her another dog she came in with and was more motivated to go outside of her kennel. Outside of her kennel she is tail tucked but had no dilated eyes, relaxed mouth, rubbing on the dog she came in with. When getting overwhelmed she went under the legs of a volunteer who was sitting near by. Only able to do basic petting on back, not able to fully r

Story
Obie (short for Old Boy) is a sweet old boy looking for a comfy couch to call his own. He has a beautiful fluffy coat that he enjoys a nice brushing of. Obie is a quiet and dignified couch potato. He is fine with everyone but particularly loves men. He loves ear scratches and a nice snooze. Obie is currently on medication for seizures. He takes this medication twice a day and it has greatly reduced his occurrence of seizures. He takes his medications easily if hidden in cream cheese, sour cream or yogurt. Obie is house trained with a doggie door right now. He enjoys spending his afternoons outside relaxing. He can be scared by loud things like fireworks but has done well with CBD as needed for this very specific anxiety. Obie does not really care for treats or toys. Treats he has enjoyed for training include lamb roast, mashed potatoes and eggs. He thinks vegetables are yucky. He seems to have been new to dog food but has taken to it well with some patience. Obie currently lives with another large dog and gets along well with her. She will even snap at him sometimes and he will not really react. He simply wants to be her friend. We also believe Obie will be fine with mannerly children. He has met toddlers and takes care to not knock them over. When meeting cats indoors, Obie was excited but did not necessarily exhibit high prey drive. He allowed his foster mom to call him back as she removed the cat. When he sees cats outdoors he like to try to chase them, though this is true of most dogs (even those that live with cats). All Better World Rescue dogs qualify for private and/or group training at no additional cost to help ensure a successful adoption. To meet Obie, fill out our short adoption application: www.betterworldrescue.org/adoption-application Once an application is filled out, our volunteers will reach out to you within one business day to answer any questions and schedule a meet and greet.

Story
Hello, Meet Tidus, a German Sherperd Bordie Collie mix. He is currently 9 weeks old as of today of writing this (10/13/24) with is birthday being August 10 2024. I was able to receive him from a friend who had a litter of 9. He originally was an outdoor puppy with his mom and siblings from who I received Tidus from. He is a really energetic little puppy who really needs a home with a lot of room to run around and expend his energy who can match the level of excitement and love he is already giving at his 9 weeks of age. He loves running around and chasing me around the house while also enjoying to play fetch with some success with his balls and crinkly toys. To date he only has his DHPP vaccine - pending other necessary vaccinations as he gets older by recommendation of his Veterinary due to his young age.

Story
Chip has truly blossomed in his foster home and is becoming "one of the pack". His foster mom has nothing but high praises for this handsome guy "Gosh...he is so sweet", "A couple of times he has initiated play with our females [GSDs] and it's adorable", "He does love getting a ball outside and carrying it around. We gave in an inside ball to, to chew on, in the house, which he will do sometimes. Mostly, he loafs around with the rest of the pack. We are so enjoying this guy". Chip has had a couple of interactions with their cat and basically ignores him. He even walked right past him and since he didn't care, neither did the cat. Chip will make a wonderful companion for some lucky adopter. ---------------------------------------------------------- Chip is a sweet boy shamefully neglected and is believed to have been dumped at the Modesto reservoir! Golden State German Shepherd Rescue evaluated this gorgeous male and he passed our temp test with flying colors!! Chip, can be talkative in his kennel and is friendly. Chip is a curious boy, but he also likes to lay down and relax. He walks well on a leash and he know "sit". When he wants pets, he may nude you or put his head on your lap! In the Stanislaus shelter, he loved splashing in the pool and carrying toys and dipping them in the water. He throws toys for himself and then runs around and collects them all. He doesn’t seem to know to bring them back to a person but maybe he never was taught. In the kennel, he has been a perfect gentleman and is very respectful of everyone and everything...except his water bowl! Below are a few videos of Chip taken while he was in the shelter: Chip's Playlist https://youtu.be/j0jyMFl35UQ?si=IfJP-_0FbRZdjSdF FOSTERED IN ACAMPO Adoption Form here
