Story
Cinderella came to CVHS due to being overwhelmed with the children and other pets in her prior home. She would do best in a calm home with someone willing to be patient with her. She has started to show some staff members that she enjoys pets and can be very affectionate given time. She has lived with cats in the past and was tolerant of them and doesn`t seem to mind the cats here in her colony room. She does have experience with canines and children but they seem to be too much for her so may not enjoy living with them in the future.

Story
Cindy Lou Who came to CVHS when her owner became displaced from her home, and knew it was not fair for Cindy Lou. Cindy Lou so far has been bashful with us, and seems to prefer a calmer setting. She isn`t bothered by her roommate with a similar personality. She would like to have a home that doesn`t have any rambunctious and loud dogs or children.

Story
Smucker is a delightful and charming cat with a big, bold purrrsonality! This sweet girl came to us when her guardian’s lifestyle changed, and now she’s ready to find a new home where she can share her vibrant spirit and loving nature. Smucker can be bashful at first, but then loves to be engaged and involved with her humans. She’s always eager to interact, play, and chat! Whether you’re giving her pets, playing with her favorite toys, or just spending time together, Smucker thrives on attention and affection. But just like any strong-willed kitty, Smucker has her boundaries. She’s a smart girl who knows how to communicate her needs, and she’ll definitely let you know if she’s had enough. If you pay attention to her social cues and respect her space, you’ll be rewarded with endless love and playful moments. To keep this curious and clever kitty happy, Smucker would benefit from a home where she can get plenty of mental and physical stimulation—this means lots of playtime and a variety of activities to keep her busy and satisfied. With Smucker`s behavior of getting overstimulated and love-biting sometimes, she seeks a home with no children. She is doing fine with a cat with a similar personality, and we do not know how she would feel about a canine in her new home.

Story
Harley (and Rider) came to CVHS when their elderly owner passed away. At first, both boys were timid and preferred to watch the world from a hidey hole. Now that a little time has gone by, these two have shown us they LOVE attention. Both boys are very curious, enjoy a good window to watch out of and if you’re not paying attention, will escape out of our colony room into the hallway. Rider occasionally will act like a parrot and while staff is visiting with them, climb on your back to your shoulder. These boys seem to like to be together and are believed to be brothers, so a home together would be great. Since they can be a little nervous at first, no over-exuberant canines or very young children in their next adventure please.

Story
Thomas O`Malley is a handsome fellow who was originally found as a stray. His finders kept an eye on him during the warmer months, but decided to bring him to us with the extreme cold weather. He briefly was around other felines at CVHS; he made friends with everyone! He clearly has indoor/outdoor feline smarts, and with his outgoing personality, may do well with a cat-savvy canine. Though he has outdoor experience, he does have Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), so should be an indoor only cat. Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, or FIV, is one of several viruses that can affect cats. When veterinarians first discovered FIV, we thought it would make cats sick the same way that HIV (the virus that causes AIDS in people) was making people sick. But it turns out that’s not true. We now know that almost all cats with FIV live normal lifespans, and that they only rarely seem to get sick more often than other cats who don’t have FIV. We used to think we had to euthanize these cats when they tested positive for FIV in shelters, but now we know they can be adopted out to live normal, happy lives. We also know now that it is very unusual for a cat with FIV to pass on FIV to other cats in the same household. This can only happen if the FIV-positive cat is biting other cats.Cats who test positive for FIV tend to have the virus stay in their bodies for the rest of their lives. It can occasionally affect their immune systems and make it more likely that they might get sick, or possibly pass on illness to other cats in their household, although this is uncommon. However, to prevent transmission of the virus, cats with FIV should not have kittens, and they should not live in households where they are biting other cats. If you are adopting a cat who is FIV-positive, you should be aware of their status, and consider having your vet do a simple blood test with other cats in your household to find out their status also. In the unlikely event that your new cat is fighting with and biting the other cats, please contact us right away to discuss returning the FIV-positive cat to the shelter. Your vet may suggest ongoing monitoring of your cat’s health, such as bloodwork or other testing.
