Story
Meet Mercy, the youngest senior tuxie in the Northeast! She's playful, curious, and quite energetic for an 11-year-old cat. She likes to chase spring toys, foil balls, and toy mice, but nothing gets her running faster than her favorite crunchy treat tossed across the room. She also enjoys "killing" a good feather toy. She has a great appetite, eats wet food and kibble, and looks forward to her three meals a day. Mercy requires an understanding adopter with a strong knowledge of and respect for cat behavior and their unique body language. Because she was declawed and mishandled when she was young, she can get overstimulated more quickly than most cats. She needs someone who wants her despite being declawed, not because she's declawed. Her ideal home is a calm, quiet environment without children, where she is the only pet in the household for the rest of her life. Building a meaningful relationship with Mercy will take some time and understanding, but the reward is highly gratifying. Her foster mom has a great relationship with her because she listens to Mercy and lets her decide when she wants to be touched and when she needs to be left alone. She thrives on a consistent routine and uses the litter box perfectly. She will go to her forever home with all her things- litter box, carrier, cat bed, and her most prized possession- her brush. Her sweet side is heartwarming- she enjoys daily snuggle sessions with her foster mom. She is a great work companion and will sit beside you quietly, enjoying your company. She is spayed, microchipped, FIV/FeLV negative, and current on vaccines. If you want to give Mercy the loving home she deserves, please fill out an application at queencitycatsvt.org/adopt.

Story
In the quiet whisper of twilight’s embrace, where the world slows and the heart finds its rhythm, there emerges a tale as soft and tender as a morning breeze. Meet Opal, a petite beauty who once roamed the world with her three cherished kittens, guided by the grace of the moon and the kindness of unseen angels. Opal, a gentle spirit wrapped in hues that capture the essence of dawn’s first light, has known the rough edges of life but carries within her the calm of a serene sanctuary. Her frame, delicate and unassuming, cradles a heart that knows the simple joys of a tender touch and the sweet solace of affection. When her human's hands reach out, she responds with a trusting flip, offering her belly as a canvas for love and solace, a gesture of pure, unspoken trust. In the arms of her foster family, she is known as a little angel, a celestial whisper of grace amidst the chaos of the world. Her curiosity, ever so calm, guides her to explore the wonders of play, discovering the joy in simple toys with the same reverence one might reserve for a cherished treasure. In her pursuit of play and discovery, she seeks a feline friend, a kindred spirit to share in the wonder of her world. Pristine in her ways and dedicated to the art of cleanliness, Opal finds solace in the embrace of her cat bed, where dreams unfold like delicate petals. Her presence, as soothing as a lullaby, and her beauty, reminiscent of a sunset’s final kiss, are sure to captivate and hold your heart in a tender, unbreakable clasp. Opal, with her sweet nature and radiant hues, beckons you to experience a love that transcends the ordinary, to find in her the quiet grace that transforms a house into a home. Story
Bella is a very sweet, people-oriented cat that just LOVES to be involved in whatever you're doing. She's a little on the chonky side so she's on a diet to make life a little easier for her. She needs a committed caretaker who will make sure she gradually loses about 6 lbs. Bella loves to play, especially chasing dangly toys and if you sit down anywhere she can reach you, she will be as close as possible to you without actually being on you. We anticipate that she will choose ON her humans once she's trimmed down a bit and fits on laps. Bella does not seem to get along with other kitties but she's good with older kids and would excel in a home where her people are around a lot. If you're looking for a kitty that loves pets and loves to engage, look no further than Bella! If you want to meet Bella, complete an adoption application at queencitycatsvt.org.

Story
Hi, my name is Ilya. I'm a beautiful, one-year-old girl who loves to be petted. Keep it coming all day long please! I like a quiet hidey hole to hang out in, but I always come out for mealtime and treats. Get me playing with a wand toy, and you’ll see just how fierce and playful I can be. When I'm in the snuggle mood, you’d better keep your lap wide open, so I can perch there for as long as I want. I have the kindest, sweetest eyes—and an even kinder heart. I don't mind living with other cats as long as they are nice to me. If you want to meet me, please complete an adoption application at queencitycatsvt.org.

Story
Pumpkin is a handsome 7 year old male. He is a bit on the reserved side, and staff is still getting to know him. He came to us from a home with the nickname of "lil Guy", and has lived with another feline, who he came in with but has already gone to her furrever home.We are pre-approving applicants. To schedule an appointment, first fill out our adoption application ( https://cb8f5fb7-0a87-40fa-8ea5-50c4da40acd3.filesusr.com/ugd/c8cb9f_8cd13866ecd54a42a2b424d2b2f8dc10.pdf ). This will ask you questions about which animal you’re interested in, your family, other furry members in the household, whether you own or rent your home and who your Veterinarian is. These allow us to make the best match possible. We touch base with your landlord due to the unfortunate number of landlords who do not allow pets in Franklin County. Our goal with checking in with your Veterinarian is to ensure that the animals of FCAR receive the medical care they deserve. Once we have a positive reference from your landlord (if you rent) and Veterinarian, we will contact you to schedule an appointment with us! If you don't have any pets we understand you would not have a vet reference and we ask for applicants to substitute a personal reference. Please keep in mind, appointments are first come, first serve, based on when your application is approved. Please be patient with your Veterinarian and landlord, as their staff and businesses have been affected by COVID-19 as well. We are incredibly thankful that there has been no shortage in interest! This being said, our staff is limited and we are doing our absolute best to approve applications in a timely manner. This process can take up to a few weeks, but most are approved before then.
