Story
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Midnight's journey has been a challenging one; she was attacked by a dog, which left her with nerve damage and incontinence. Her tail had to be amputated, and she was sent to Black Cat Rescue to heal. Despite the hardships she has faced, Midnight has shown remarkable resilience and strength. With the care and support of her foster human, she has made incredible progress. Her incontinence is now manageable with the help of a diaper, and she has adapted to her new circumstances with grace and determination. Midnight is now ready for her next chapter, a loving home where she can receive the care and attention she deserves. She is a sweet and affectionate cat, with a playful spirit that shines bright. She even still likes dogs!! All she needs is a chance to show you the love and joy she has to offer. Please consider opening your heart and home to Midnight. She has so much love to give and is ready to become a cherished member of your family. Together, we can give Midnight the happy ending she deserves. Here's what her foster human has to say about Midnight: How would you describe the cat's general personality? Midnight is very outgoing and active.  She thinks the world is her oyster.  She doesn't hide, even when first entering a space (including the NBC studios). Does the cat enjoy being pet? If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet?   Midnight loves being petted.  She often stretches up and puts her legs on my knees when I'm sitting so I can rub her head and ears.     Also, if I rub her backside briskly, just above her tail, she will pee or poop if she has something  ready to go.  Recently, she's been volunteering to stand in the catbox for this, which is really helpful. . Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched?   Don't pet her backside above the tail if you don't want her to pee or poop.  Also, she is such an active cat that she sometimes won't stand still long enough to be petted, but we still get lots of pets in.   Does the cat come on your lap?     Does the cat like to be held? She wants to come up on my lap and she doesn't mind being held, but we are limited by the fact that she may pee or poop on me.  Sometimes I put a cloth on my lap so we can cuddle.  She also likes to climb up on my shoulders when I'm sitting in the kitchen.   Does the cat sleep in your bed?   I'll bet she would if I could let her. Does the cat seek your attention? Does the cat like to play? What are the cat's favorite games and toys? Midnight absolutely loves attention, either from people or other pets and is always up for playing.  She loves her pole toy and anything that she can bat around on the floor.  She also likes batting at Arvid the dog (who doesn't seem to mind). How vocal is the cat? What kinds of sounds does the cat make?   Midnight isn't a big talker and doesn't cry to get through doors, etc. but she has a very cute little meow when she wants to tell me something. Does the cat scratch a scratcher? If no, please explain   Yes, Midnight likes both her cardboard scratcher and to get a long scratch in anytime that she can get to the flat-weave rugs (when she escapes into the livingroom). . Does the cat always use the litter box? If no, please explain. Midnight likes the catbox and will go in and 'pretend' to poop, then scratch around in the litter.  She does occasionally get a poop in the box but as often as not her poops will end up elsewhere.  She doesn't seem to be able to push them out voluntarily without help.     That being said, as I mentioned before, she will poop and pee if I rub her tail end and she is starting to volunteer to do that.  I'm guessing that she is more comfortable with the poops out and appreciates the help.  This is a change from a few months ago when she often wouldn't stand still to have me rub her tail end and make her poop.     I've been making sure she has plenty of time to run around and get exercise on the theory that that will help her to strengthen her back end and perhaps help with the poop coordination.  (She does a lot of running and jumping around now that we've figured out how to poop-proof larger areas of the house. What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? Is the cat picky about food?   I've been feeding Midnight Royal Canin dental food (Dr. Leavey recommended that for another cat to keep weight in line).  I feed about 3/4 cups per day - sometimes I put out more and she seems to self-regulate her intake. What is the cat's favorite treat? Pretty much anything - I give her freeze-dried salmon or any dry cat treats that we have on hand.  She also likes the pate treats. Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances?   Midnight likes to play and will swat at me and Arvid for fun.     Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you?   Midnight rarely scratches but has clawed me when she is very anxious (at the cat event) or when I tried to get her into a diaper when she had already told me no.  That said, she doesn't scratch me or complain even when I have to put her back into her part of the house after an escape to the livingroom. Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No, she hasn't nipped or bitten me. To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful?   Midnight is super friendly with anyone who comes to visit and was either friendly or tolerant with everybody on her outings, except when she'd really had enough at the Boston cat event.  She loves playing with my dog and me and tried to befriend Hugo, my friend's cat who came to stay with us (in his own segregated part of the house)   I think Midnight would love living in a home with other pets, especially if she doesn't recover the ability to reliably use the catbox and so can't sit on laps or sleep with people. Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions?   As mentioned, Midnight is about the most outgoing, social cat I've ever met.  Also, she is really soft and super plush which isn't really a trait, but makes her very pretty and really enjoyable to pet. In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt?   If Midnight could use the catbox reliably, she would be just about perfect.  Only people who don't want a cat who is super friendly and interactive should steer away.   Just a guess, but she might be quite dominant in a multi-cat household - she is not at all shy around other cats. What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them?   Her challenge is just the obvious one.  We have to cover everything with cloths and pads to manage her pee/poop.     I still hope that she will recover her catbox skills, but she might not.  Things have definitely gotten easier over time, but that is partly because I'm getting better at Midnight-proofing the areas she has access to.  That said, she is offering a glimmer of hope so, fingers crossed! He’s curious and climbs all over before finally settling in with his loud, contented purr. Fizzgig, who started off shy, has blossomed into a soft, plush snuggle muffin and a fearless toy hunter with a gentle, quizzical expression. **Affection Level:** Both boys love pets and attention! Hot Pocket is eager to be near you, often making his way into your lap, while Fizzgig, a little more reserved at first, soaks up snuggles like a sponge. They enjoy head, cheek, and back pets, and Fizzgig especially loves a good tummy rub. **Lap Cats?** Yes, especially Hot Pocket!   **Do They Like to Be Held?** Yes, though they become adorably wiggly after a short time.   **Do They Sleep in Your Bed?** Definitely – they enjoy snuggling up and play-fighting on the bed at all hours!   **Do They Seek Attention?** Very much so! **Play Style and Favorite Games:** These two are spirited players! They’re all about crinkly paper to dive and hide in, sparkle balls they can carry around (often with proud growls of ownership), and anything wiggly on a stick is an instant hit. They love batting balls in track toys and anything they can grab for some serious rabbit-kicking. **Vocality:** Both are quite vocal, chirping and squeaking in the cutest way.   **Social Nature:** Initially shy, they warm up quickly, especially when play is involved! **Quirks and Cuties:** Having come to their foster home as very young babies, they’ve kept a precious habit of “nursing” on a fuzzy faux-fur blanket. Their purrs are so big and loud, you might think it’s a sound from outside! **Why Adopt Fizzgig & Hot Pocket?**   Hot Pocket will keep you company as your playful, affectionate shadow, while Fizzgig is the epitome of sweetness with his soft fur and gentle, curious face. Together, they make a wonderful pair, balancing each other’s personalities with a mix of snuggles and energy. ** Given their challenging start, they need a patient home that will allow them time to build trust through play and affection, all at their own pace. This approach has helped them come out of their shells, and they’re now ready to bring love and joy to their forever family! Hi! My name is Craig! I am a handsome 3 year old male with black soft and sleek fur. I am a kitty with a big heart and even a bigger love for window gazing ,being a couch potato and getting all the belly rubs that I possibly can! I am a bit shy at first, but if you give me a little time I will be wanting to soak up all of your attention. I get along with my foster mom’s kitties very well and also her dogs she was surprised at how well I did. Nothing bothers me not even the vacuum! I love to play all day with my foster sisters we have so much fun. If you’re dreaming of a loyal companion who loves to snuggle and you like to give belly rubs look no further! I’m right and ready for my forever family! Could it be you? I must have another cat in my home! I'm available through Kitty Connection in Medford.

Story
Hi there! My name is Kitty and I am a 3-year-old female. I am a very friendly lady and I love to play. I love having your attention and will follow you around to beg for pets, but I'll let you know once I've had enough. I get along well with other cats even though I’m not looking to be best buddies with anybody. I’m a very independent girl, but I love when my foster mom plays with me! I love playing with laser lights and I'm a lot of fun to watch. I can play pretty rough if I have a lot of pent-up energy! If you're looking for a friendly but independent companion, I'm the girl for you! I need to be adopted by an experience cat owner who will know how to read my body language. I'm available through Kitty Connection in Medford.

Story
Hello! We’re Winsta (5-year-old female) and Opal (1.5-year-old male). We’re believed to be a mother-son pair and were rescued by a kind Samaritan after our family left us behind when they moved. We love making biscuits, cozying up on your lap, “sharing” your bed, and watching the resident pigeons from the windowsill (though we really wish our foster parents could have one of those cool window bird feeders). While technically out of reach, we haven’t shown a strong interest in inspecting any of the houseplants (or high areas in general, for that matter). We’re well-fed and at an optimal weight, but that doesn’t stop us from trying to guilt our foster parents into thinking we’re starving. It’s worked twice so far, but they seem to have caught on. Winsta: Despite my small stature, I inhale and put away my Fancy Feast at a rate that would perplex a physicist. This made my foster mom nervous (something about carpeting?), but I’ve shown her I can keep it down (I was also VERY vocally opposed to her attempts to pace me with smaller portions). I love pretending the floor is lava as I make my way across the apartment, leaping from furniture to furniture. My favorite place to be is the papasan chair, which I sometimes share with Opal, but other times I let out a long groan when I want me-time. Opal: Privacy? Not part of my vocabulary. Personal space? Never heard of her. I feel and make myself at home the minute I step foot inside. My favorite things are draw strings, lasers, and your attention. If you stop petting me, I’ll forcefully throw my body at you or headbutt your hand like a goat until you relent. I love doing whatever you’re doing and walking wherever you’re (about to be) walking, so if I had a favorite song, it’d probably be something like “Every Breath You Take” by The Police or “We Go Together” from Grease. From Our Foster Parents: Despite all of the recent stress and changes in their lives, these two are so trusting, gentle, and eager for your companionship and their forever home! We are both absolutely amazing with children and adore the kids in our foster home! Winsta is more timid than Opal, but with the right introductions, we think they’d both adapt well to other cats, and respectful dogs. We are available through Kitty Connection in Medford!

Story
Hi my name is Scooby. I’m a little cat with a big personality! I’m a 3-year-old, all black cat with beautiful green eyes. I came to Kitty Connection when my owners couldn’t take care of me any longer. I love people and am very affectionate. Usually, I follow my foster mom all around the house. But if I’m off somewhere else, she just has to call my name and I come running! I love to be petted and any good rub will make me purr. I also love playing and if there’s not a cat toy around, I’ll find a piece of paper to chase around. My foster mom laughs at my antics. Sometimes I get a little demanding, and bat at my mom to make her pay attention to me. I’m only 8.5 lbs, but I am eating enough to pack on more weight. I LOVE food! I’m hoping to find a good home, where I be safe, get plenty of good food and attention, entertain you with my antics and share lots of affection and purrs. I'm available through Kitty Connection in Medford.

Story
Hello friends! My name is Maka (which means "eye" or "face" in Hawaiian). I am an incredibly sweet thirteen year old cat with beautiful bright green eyes, an adorable face, and a perfect cinnamon roll loaf. I am a cuddly cat who loves an evening snuggle on the couch, but also appreciates my space. I am a low maintenance companion, accustomed to spending time by myself and being pretty self-sufficient. During the day, I prefer to keep myself cozy on a pillow or in a cat house or in a window sill looking out at the birds and squirrels. At night, I would love to hang out with you, but will likely find a cozy place on my own nearby to sleep. I have very high anxiety around dogs and young children and am looking for a home with either no pets or young kids! I am great as an only cat or might to well with another mature, laid-back senior cat like myself. I have thrived living in a city apartment and in a suburban/rural area. I love car trips in my carrier; I'm always up for an adventure to see new sights and smell new smells! I have had a few teeth removed over the years so I eat only wet food and sometimes get an upset tummy, but I have a great appetite and am very food motivated for play and enrichment. I am a quiet guy who tends to save my meows to let you know that I am hungry! I'm hoping to find an amazing, loving, quiet home for my golden years where I can bask in the sun in peace with a loving human best friend or friends! Please do NOT apply if you have other pets or young children in your home! I am available through Kitty Connection in Medford.
