Story
Hobbes and his brothers were surrendered from a home after an unplanned pregnancy.  They are confident, playful & loving. Every PALS cat and kitten has been spayed/neutered, microchipped, tested negative for FeLV/FIV and is up-to-date on vaccinations. A note about kittens: if you are adopting a kitten, they may need to complete their FVRCP (distemper) series and may not be old enough for their rabies vaccination. These essential vaccines will be the responsibility of their new owner. Detailed vet records and a calendar of vaccination due dates will be provided. The PALS Adoption Center, located inside PetSmart at 10 Traders Way in Salem, MA (just off Highland Ave/Rte 107) BY APPOINTMENT ONLY TO APPROVED ADOPTERS.  Adoption applications can be found online at www.palscats.org.  A completed application is not necessarily an approved application. We do ask for written landlord approval if you rent, or proof of home ownership (water bill, etc.) We will also check your vet references.  You will be contacted by our adoption staff once your application has been approved.  Please note it can take up to 48 hours. Our online sites are updated regularly, but we can not guarantee that a cat you see here is still available. Please email if you have any questions regarding the adoption process or our available cats and kittens. PALS is an all-volunteer, no-kill rescue group. Each and every cat and kitten has been rescued locally. October 21, 2024, 12:36 pm

Mr. lovebug, Tux is looking for his forever home! He will follow you around the house and be your best friend. He is very sweet, and purrs easily! He is quick to retreat when you are not available. He'll sit next to me on the sofa, very close to being in my lap, but not quite. He sleeps on our bed every night and gives me a few very gentle taps when he's ready to get up. If I don't respond, he goes back to the end of the bed for another nap. He always his litterbox, he likes his 1/2 can of Friskees beef twice a day to keep his tummy happy. Plus dry food and fresh water. Tux is a super nice cat.If you would like more information about this sweet guy, contact Jill at 978-969-2389 or dsajill1@yahoo.com

Story
Karina was living in a DPW parking lot. This poor baby had three litters of kittens outside, before PAWS could rescue her. She's extremely shy, but now, after a year, enjoys sitting near her loving foster mom, when she works from home. That's encouraging progress! Her best home will be with an experienced cat owner in a quiet home without other pets or children.

Story
Hi I'm Mookie! I'm a 2 year old boy with lots of energy to play with you. My favorite game is chasing colorful ribbons, especially through my tunnel. I am always excited to get a treat after playing. I am very interactive and vocal, saying "hi whenever I see you and letting you know whatever is on my mind at the moment. In addition to my high-energy ribbon hunting, I love being brushed and will tuck my paws and roll over for you to make sure you get every spot. I'm also an avid bird watcher in my spare time. I like to lounge on a chair by the window and put my paw daintily on the windowsill as I watch the birds go by. I am not shy and will be by your side whenever you're home. I'll match your energy; if you want to lay around I'll lay next to you and if we're up and about I'm ready to go! When you're not around, I like to hang out in cozy spaces with covering on three sides. I push my paws against my space to feel as secure as possible. If we're sitting on the couch together, I like to gently push on your leg, too! I'm looking for a special home where I can truly be myself. I need to go to a home with no other animals, an experienced cat owner, and no young children. A large, open space is best for me, as I get overwhelmed if there's too much commotion around corners and doorways. I have atypical, but predictable body language, and my foster parents quickly learned how to tell if I need some space and quiet to calm down. I take a pill once a day and am extremely well trained on the routine. As soon as I hear the pill bottle, I go right to my chair where I know to expect a Churu treat and a pill that I don't mind at all. While I love my PAWS family, I dream of waking up in my forever home next to my forever friend.

Story
Slippery Alma (Alma) would love to be your new friend! At 8yo, Alma, one of our shy kitties, has come out of her shell and is ready to make the move to her forever home. Alma has blossomed in the care of her foster dad and waits by the door for him to get home from work, brightening up when he walks inside and giving him a warm hello. She'll frequently sit on his lap while he reads and likes being close, often lying alongside him, in bed. Alma enjoys caresses and head scratches and will head tap her dad to remind him. She will also rub herself on his legs, her way of saying, 'I like you' - high praise indeed! One of Alma's favorite pastimes is sunbathing and she'll seek out the sunniest spot in the house in which to do so. This laid back, quiet girl is still shy with unfamiliar people and is looking for a patient, loving adopter who will give her time to open up and adjust in her new home. She'll do best in a quiet, calm adult household where she may shine as the only pet. Alma cannot wait to meet you!

These pups are in Salem, Massachusetts too!

Story
August (Auggie) is a 12 year old sweet boy. I adopted him from a woman in Arizona when he was 3 years old, because her new husband was allergic to cats. He has been with me through EVERYTHING including various moves, breakups, grad school, getting married, and having my daughter. I love him so much, that I feel like rehoming would be the best thing for him. When my husband and I moved in together, we each had our own cats. Unfortunately, August has not been able to adjust to having a cat brother. For the last 2 years, my normally sweet, outgoing, playful, cuddly, social boy, has become sad, reclusive, and picking fights with the other cat. We have done everything we can to help him adjust, but he refuses. He is great around humans, even my 1 year old daughter, but feels threatened and can not stand to live with another cat. I am looking to rehome him because I just want him to be happy. Hoping to find someone who wants to give lots of love to this sweet boy.
