Story
Geeves: I will need a VERY patient, cat-savvy adopter who can read my body language and give me time to blossom into my true personality. Expectations should be set that it is unknown how long it will take for me to adapt (possibly weeks to months) and I might never become super social, but more of a roommate. I will be ideal for a gentle, quiet adopter looking to help out a cat, but one who has low expectations for who I am, and what I might become. It is not known what I will be like in a home environment. I came from an overcrowded home with lots of other cats. I have been using my litter box consistently here at the shelter, but my adopter needs to provide me with a slow litter box introduction since it is unclear what my litter box habits were in my previous home. It is recommended that I be set up in my own space (an extra bedroom or bathroom) a space that people or pets will not use unless going in to clean or feed. This will allow for protected contact along with providing a safe space for me. I should be left alone initially as I adjust. This space should include plenty of hiding places, ideally with access to a vertical surface such as a cat tree or a cat-proofed shelf. I can gradually be given more access to the home when I am confidently moving about my environment with relaxed body language when my adopter visits me in my room. In my previous home there were multiple cats, but we do not know how we interacted with one another. I should not be introduced to existing pets in my new home until I have had a chance to adjust to my new environment on my own. Compatibility:Cats: YES!!! It would be best to go to a home with a confident feline friend that I can bond with and who can show me the ropes. I am most likely going to be a `cat`s cat` versus a `people`s cat`.Dogs: No history possibly if mellow and cat-savvyKids: Older, quiet, cat-savvy The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon 4:30pm, with no appointment needed to meet available cats.

Story
Faisca: I am a friendly, playful guy! I will need a slow introduction to my new home, starting off in one room that is unoccupied and a lower-traffic space, with all of my items. I should stay in the room until I have settled in and am feeling 100% comfortable. I am a playful, active guy who will need cat-savvy adopters to help me not become bored. I will need someone to provide me with enrichment and a variety of toys. My adopter will need a close relationship with a veterinarian since I am an overweight guy and I need a plan with a veterinarian to help manage my weight loss on a healthy basis long-term. I have a gallop rhythm. This is an abnormal heart sound which can indicate underlying heart disease. An echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) is the only way to determine the significance of a gallop or other abnormal heart sounds. Some heart conditions may require monitoring and medications, while others may not require treatment. Some heart conditions will worsen over time and some will not. It is recommended that the adopter see their primary care veterinarian to discuss further testing for this finding. I have evidence of dental tartar or gingivitis and may benefit from dental cleaning in the future. Follow up with a primary care veterinarian is recommended for ongoing dental health recommendations.Cats: Possibly, no known history. Cat-savvy Dogs: Possibly, no known history. Cat-savvy Kids: Possibly, no known history. Older, cat-savvyThe shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon - 4:30 pm, with no appointment needed to meet available cats.

Diamond: I am a handsome guy, friendly and social with visitors and strangers. I will need a slow intro into my new home, starting off in one room that is unoccupied and a lower-traffic space with all of my items. I should stay in the room until I am feeling 100% comfortable. I would be like to the king of my castle and have all of the attention on myself. I would like to be the only pet in the home ,and live in an adult-only home. I will need a close relationship with a vet. I am an overweight guy on a special diet to help me lose weight. I also received a dental while in our care and was treated for Upper Respiratory Infection. My URI is cleared, and I am ready to start writing the next chapter of my story with my adopter! I will always need access to water! While in the adoption center it was noted that I have increased drinking and urinations. The underlying cause has not been definitively diagnosed: however I have normal kidney values with isothenuric urine (not well concentrated). There are several possible causes for this including chronic kidney disease, which is a chronic, progressive disease and is less likely at this time, diabetes insipidus or psychogenic drinking (behavioral). Psychogenic drinking is a behavioral response to stress and is uncommon in cats. Diabetes insipidus is a condition in which animals are unable to retain water and excrete excess water in their urine. There are tests that can be done under close supervision of a doctor to help differentiate these two syndromes. It is important that my adopter not restrict my water, and I should always have access to water unless otherwise instructed by your veterinarian. There may be further investigation recommended by your primary care veterinarian that is beyond what can be performed in the shelter. It is important that Diamond is provided with enough water to drink and a large enough litter box for urinations. Adopting Diamond requires a close relationship with a veterinarian and additional testing and treatments may be recommended beyond what was performed in the shelter. Compatibility:Cats: No, Thank youDogs: No, Thank youKids: No, Thank you The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon - 4:30 pm, with no appointment needed to meet available cats.

Magic: I am a pretty girl, and I would like to be the queen of my castle and have all of the attention to myself! I would like to be the only pet in my new home, and I would prefer an adult-only home. I have had access to the outdoors, which I have enjoyed, and a safe outdoor option such as a screened in porch or catio is something I would appreciate. I will need a slow introduction to my new home, starting off in one unoccupied room with all of my items. I should stay in the room until I am feeling 100% comfortable in my new surroundings. I recently had a dental with a few teeth removed, and the remainder cleaned and polished. I will need regular veterinary care and monitoring of my teeth. The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon - 4:30 pm, with no appointment needed to meet available cats. Compatibility:Cats: No, Thank youDogs: No, Thank youKids: No, Thank you

Story
Gingersnap came to us with a very common and heartbreaking sad situation as a stray that landed in a kill shelter in Tennessee.   This beautiful girl was so terrified and despite that the shelter staff knew she  had a sweet spirit about her.   The shelter could have adopted her out because she is FIV positive.  Her way out alive was if she was to leave  with a reputable rescue that knew how to place cats like her.  She is very healthy and we have learned so much about cats living long and wonderful lives even with the FIV diagnosis.  She does not care for other cats and that is fine she cannot be around cats unless they are also FIV positive.   I'm sure she could adjust with another cat but she tends to just run away from them and she hisses and growls at dogs.  She would be a wonderful cat for a quiet home with a retired couple or empty nesters who have had all the young children fly the nest.  We do suggest a quiet home with no dogs  she loves to sleep in her little Kitty bed and enjoys a simple existence where she can receive human love and attention.   If you are interested in this sweet girl please email us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com   November 4, 2024, 11:48 pm

Hi friends !   We are Jacob and Joshua, two buds that love to hang out and get into mischief together, nothing bad just boy stuff. We are love bugs and love attention and we will ask for it too. We love to play and then just nap in the sun. There is one thing, Joshua is FIV+, Jacob is negative. We don’t care and we hope you won’t either. Buds are Buds for life and that is all we care about. We are both healthy and will live long lives together with good food and lots of love. We promise you double everything in life.  Won’t you consider us?  Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and let us know where you live. November 4, 2024, 11:48 pm

Story
Meet kitty Armondo!!!  He and his litter mates did not have the best start in life.  Their mom was a member of a feral cat colony that lived in a ravine.  People were very concerned about the little family and were finally able to trap them all.  Mom was feral.  The babies were scared but nice.  It just took a little while for them to understand that people are nice and are trying to help them.  Mom was spayed and released and the babies went to a loving foster home.  They have now all been totally vetted and are ready for their forever homes.  Armondo is a sweet but shy 12 week old kitten.  He loves to play with his siblings Leo and Amschel.  They have the biggest time running and playing.  Armondo is a polydactyl/Hemmingway kitten.  He is unique in that he has 5 toes.  It looks like he has hands.  This sweet boy is a very good boy.  It took no time at all to litter box train him.  He would love to have a home with one of his brothers.  If not though he definitely needs a home with another kitten or young cat.  He has been through too much to not have a companion.  Armondo is a special boy with the tiniest of meows.  He will be an excellent companion and addition to your family.  To be considered for his forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Armondo is currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)      November 4, 2024, 11:48 pm

Story
Felix's mom was part of a feral cat colony living in a ravine in Nashville.  This colony caught the attention of several cat loving women who decided it was their mission to save the colony from serious over population and find loving homes for as many as could be tamed.  The were already feeding the colony so the cats were somewhat familiar with them.  Traps were set out and one by one they were all caught.  Considering the circumstances everyone was in good health and almost everyone had the personality to be in a family.  All the adults were vetted and the babies were vetted as they became old enough.  They are all now ready to find their forever homes.  Felix is a curious 5 month old orange tabby kitten.  He is litter box trained.  Felix loves to play with his littermates Molly and Winston.  He would really like to be adopted with one of them.  Felix also plays well with the other kittens and cats in his foster home.  He is a sweet little guy who would be a great addition to your family.  To be considered for Felix's forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Felix is currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)November 4, 2024, 11:48 pm
