Story
Gomez is a handsome boy of about 3.5 years. He is housed with his sister, though they are not bonded. Gomez is an outgoing and very friendly boy who is ready to make new friends. He loves human affection and getting pets, and is happy to give sweet head butts in return! Gomez would make a great addition to most households! We are pre-approving applicants. To schedule an appointment, first fill out our adoption application ( https://cb8f5fb7-0a87-40fa-8ea5-50c4da40acd3.filesusr.com/ugd/c8cb9f_8cd13866ecd54a42a2b424d2b2f8dc10.pdf ). This will ask you questions about which animal you’re interested in, your family, other furry members in the household, whether you own or rent your home and who your Veterinarian is. These allow us to make the best match possible. We touch base with your landlord due to the unfortunate number of landlords who do not allow pets in Franklin County. Our goal with checking in with your Veterinarian is to ensure that the animals of FCAR receive the medical care they deserve. Once we have a positive reference from your landlord (if you rent) and Veterinarian, we will contact you to schedule an appointment with us! If you don't have any pets we understand you would not have a vet reference and we ask for applicants to substitute a personal reference. Please keep in mind, appointments are first come, first serve, based on when your application is approved. Please be patient with your Veterinarian and landlord, as their staff and businesses have been affected by COVID-19 as well. We are incredibly thankful that there has been no shortage in interest! This being said, our staff is limited and we are doing our absolute best to approve applications in a timely manner. This process can take up to a few weeks, but most are approved before then.

Story
Dexter came to CVHS when someone found him as a stray, and wasn`t able to locate his owner. We are still getting to know his personality traits, but since Dexter has been here he has demonstrated that he would do best in a calm and quiet home. He will need a family willing to be patient with him as he adjusts to his new surroundings. Dexter has done well with his feline roommates here in our colony rooms.

Story
Smudge is a sweet senior male cat who is used to being the "King" of the shelter. He was previously an indoor-outdoor cat but needs meds every 12 hours, so we are hoping to find him an indoor home where he won't risk missing his medication schedule. Smudge was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism and needs a small tablet twice a day. The meds are not very expensive and he eats them in his wet food. In his previous home, he would act out if not allowed outside but he does not seem to mind being inside the shelter. Smudge does not appreciate other animals in his space but he likes adult age people. He can be picky about being picked up or pet on his body sometimes, but he likes to be held and sit in laps when he chooses to do so. Smudge is up to date on vaccines, microchipped and neutered.
