Story
My name is Betsy (Ross) and I made a freedom trip to Ohio after pending euthanization in South Carolina. Travel was stressful but we made it! Starting out, I was shut down and scared but the people here were patient. The dogs were eager to play with me but no way could I trust them right away. Day by day, it was like chipping away at a brick wall and they started to see a lot of potential with me. They say I'm like; "a woman with her walls up but deep down is super caring. Just does not show it all the time." Stubborn but sweet. I "act" independent but deep down, I really enjoy being with my people - secretly a shadow. When it's time for a nap, I like to put my head on my foster mom. But, I don't want her to know I like her "too" much so sometimes I'll sleep at the bottom of the bed to keep her guessing. We even sleep out with other dogs which I don't mind as long as they don't bite my feet - very sensative. Sometimes I have to give Spudz a piece of my mind (a correction). He's so annoying but he listens and no one gets hurt. Speaking of stubborn, I can't stand being in a crate. They say it's like dragging a boulder so they gave up. Not even 20 treats can trick me to walk in there. My foster mom said if I can be nice to Spudz AND behave in the house, she'll make an exception to join the "Freeroaming Crew"... which is just Spudz. (I think she spoils him too much. He gained like 5 pounds in a week!) Regardless, I passed my tests with flying colors. So, she let's me stay out when she's not home. I just sleep, minding my own business. No potty accidents because potty goes outside, duh. My tail always wags when she comes back home and I love to greet her at the door. Right now, I don't have many friends. Mom says I play too rough (non-aggressive) and not many of the dogs can keep up. But, I only play rough outdoors never indoors. They say that I seem to know the difference and thankfully, know how to disengage when playing. Guess not every dog was built to box and wrestle. I'm proudfully the toughest in my league! Spudz always taps out. So, because of that, I'll need to find the right dog that can keep up and more on the submissive side. Slow introductions (with dogs) are a must which they'll help with because I'm not so quick to trust others. However, I'm okay with retiring my boxing and just being the only dog. Kids are great, too. Do you need a babysitter? I just want to be loved.. Some other fun facts about me; • I love going for walks and doing pretty good on the leash. • Stainless Steel Bowls make me nervous so I have to eat off a plate. It took mom a while to figure it out. We're on track now to gaining more weight. We're not sure how or why we got to this point. • I'm a pretty low-moderate energy dog and go with the flow. Napping all day? Okay! A day full of adventures? Let's go! • My paperwork says I'm about 5-6 Years Old. They're lying. Obviously. I don't look a day over 6 months. My face is from a powdered donut. • I'm loyal and protective. No one better touch my mom's sandwich! But, I don't beg for it or try to steal it. I just want to make sure she eats, too. Spudz stole her last two dinners and Thor stole her steak last week. People I'm not familiar with who try to tower over her, I watch like a hawk. You better not touch without permission. As long as she's cool, I'm cool. If she's screaming, I'm kicking your butt and if you make her cry, there's a hole in the backyard for you. Spudz dug it for you. So, I'm a tough girl but I'm sweet. Perhaps I'll be a little shy showing you how much I really care about you but over time you'll see... I just don't want to get hurt again... Will you come adopt me? In return, I'll make sure no one hurts you.

Story
Theebo came from Louisiana Death Row due to overcrowding. Upon arrival, his fur was falling out and he had some wounds around his face likely due to an animal fight. However, he's as sweet as can be and gets along with the other dogs here. We're not sure about his background but behavioral assessment has determined that he may have not had much of a home life. He is leaving "puppy brain" and will need some basic training to set him up for success. Despite all of that, Theebo has been a fantastic guest and needs a good home that would love to take him on adventures on occasions. Fenced-In yard highly recommended but not required for an active family. He plays well with others but seems content being the only cool kid around. Theebo is a chewer for toys and also loves sticks. Will cat test upon request. With kids, he does well but does get mouthy with the hands. We are currently working with him to stop the behavior, but adopters will need to reinforce training. Thankfully, he's very smart and picks up on things fast. Not exactly house-trained but does well with supervision. Crate trained and is quiet. He does alright on the leash but would benefit from some reinforcement. If you're looking for a beautiful, coated dog with a high potential output for training - look no further. Theebo will be your best friends and over the moon to finally have a family to call his own. The rescue will assist with basic training to get the family started. Bonus: Theebo has a little bit of blue in left eye. How cool is that?

Story
We'd like to re-introduce you to Winnie, a remarkable dog who's come a long way since we last introduced her a few months ago. If you remember she rescued by a Good Samaritan and had an an iliac fracture and MAJOR ear troubles. Thanks to the unwavering support of our incredible community, we were able to provide her with the necessary medical care, granting her the gift of a pain-free life through total ear canal ablation surgery she needed. Now, the time has come for us to find Winnie her forever home. At around 5-6 years old, Winnie is not just any dog; she's a TOTAL SWEETHEART! She has been living with a foster and has shown great compatibility with their other large dog, Scottie. Day by day, she's making huge strides in meeting new people. Instead of being terrified, she now greets strangers with excitement. Her transformation is nothing short of inspiring. Winnie does reasonably well around cats but may need some separation when left alone. She's learning to understand them, but she’s not aggressive towards them. When it comes to children, we believe she would thrive best in a home with older kids, as her playfulness can be exuberant, akin to a bull in a China shop. She also can be a bit mouthy when she wants attention, but it’s more gentle and nothing major. For Winnie, a fenced-in yard would be ideal, she would thrive in an active home and one that can continue nurturing her newfound confidence. Is that with you? If you are interested in potentially meeting Winnie, send us a message!

Story
Our hearts ache as we post this about our beloved Marnie. She's was on a journey for over a year, searching for that one special place to call her forever home. Marnie is once again embarking on the quest for her forever home, as her last stop turned out to be less than ideal, and our foster homes are full with other animals in need. What Marnie truly longs for is the companionship of another playful medium to large canine buddy. She truly comes alive when she's surrounded by her fellow four-legged pals who match her enthusiasm and energy. Marnie's zest for life is infectious, and having a playmate to share adventures with is nothing short of a dream for her. Of course, Marnie isn't without her quirks. She could use a little assistance with her leash manners, but with the right touch of patience, understanding, and training, this hurdle can be overcome. A fenced-in yard would be an incredible hope for her new home, granting her the freedom to frolic and run whenever she wants! Marnie is a bundle of warmth, cuddles, and affection. Her heart brims with love waiting to be shared. Marnie deserves a chance to find a family that will cherish and adore her. PLEASE SHARE TO HELP Marnie find her forever home. If you're captivated by Marnie's spirit and wish to offer her the love and care she deserves, please send us a message.

Story
Hey there, fabulous humans! It's your gal, Bernadette, but you can call me Bern or even Freckles – I've got more nicknames than treats in a jar, and I love 'em all, especially when they come with compliments about my stunning looks. So, here's the scoop: I strutted into this shelter a few moons ago after being found at a local park. The guess is I was dumped there, but hey, no hard feelings – I'm ready for a fresh start! Now, let me tell you, when I first landed here, I was a bundle of nerves. Can you blame me? New place, new faces, but thanks to some awesome volunteers, I improve everyday. They discovered my love for a sprawling yard, I definitely need a fenced in yard, because this gal needs space to run, zoom around, and soak up the glorious sunshine. Snow, you say? Bring it on! I've got a feeling I'll be a snowflake-catching extraordinaire. Sure, I'm on the high-energy side, and yeah, I might flex those muscles a bit, but give me a few minutes, and I remember my leash manners. I'm thinking an active, young-at-heart household (no super young children) is my jam – you know, where the adventures never stop. Now, I do have a tiny confession: I'm a bit picky with my canine companions, so I'm dreaming of a forever home where I'm the solo pet, soaking up all the love. I'm 2-3 years young, and I've got a lot to learn, but I'm a quick study. I need someone who speaks dog and can help me polish my manners. Once the zoomies are out of my system, I transform into a cuddle connoisseur. Picture this: me snuggled up next to you, enjoying the cozy vibes, maybe with a peanut butter licky mat in paw – perfection! I'm ready to ditch the shelter life and move into my own fabulous forever home. Are you the awesome human who'll make my dreams come true? Let's make it happen! If you are interested in Bernadette, send us a message!

Story
Allow us to introduce you to Paisley, a delightful sweetheart in search of her forever home. She came to us from a hoarding situation, but those days are behind her and she’s ready for the next chapter! Paisley's was a previous mama, but it’s evident by her nurturing nature, especially once she warms up to you. While initially reserved, particularly around men, she quickly becomes a cuddly companion once she feels comfortable. Whether she's by your side exploring or basking in the warmth of the sun, Paisley thrives on companionship and loves to soak up the sunshine. She's already mastered sitting and is eagerly learning to lay down, especially when there are treats involved—her favorite being peanut butter and hot dog pieces. This affectionate gal adores snuggling up in big comforters and revels in belly rubs. Having lived with other dogs, Paisley shows positive interest in equally laid-back companions, particularly males. At around three years old, she's a charming mix of Rott/Pit, and while she prefers a quiet home environment, she still enjoys staying active. A securely fenced yard is a must, as Paisley we think can be a slight escape artist. She would thrive with someone strong and active enough to go on neighborhood strolls though. With her endearing charm and sweet nature, Paisley is simply waiting for the right forever home to call her own. Could that be with you? If you are interested in meeting Paisley, send us a message!
