Story
Ta dah, puppy power to the rescue! Hello there, my name is Optimus. Do you know that my name means “best” or “the greatest”? I was found taking a stroll on S Walnut keeping the streets safe and a kind stranger said I needed to be where it’s safe! So if you know my people please let them know or call the shelter so I can get home. If I’m not claimed I’ll be ready for my new forever home on 12.21.24. If you would like to meet me the shelter can be reached at 937-498-7201. Lobby hours are Monday-Friday 9-5 and Saturday 9-12. Open kennel hours are Monday-Friday 12-4 with Saturday by appointment.

Story
NoodleMaleAge: 11 MonthsWeight: 47 lbsBreed: German Shepherd Mix Hi there! I’m Noodle, and I’m here to bring some fun and love into your life! I’m silly, sweet, and playful — pretty much the whole package. I am house trained and crate trained as well and can be left in my crate for the duration of your normal work day. I get along great with other dogs, cats, and even kids! Although, because I’m still a big puppy with some awkward movements, it’s probably best if the kids in my future home are at least 8 years old. I can be a bit clumsy, and I wouldn’t want to knock anyone over! If you have a fenced yard, that’s awesome! But a quick heads-up — I’m a bit of an escape artist. I can climb a fence shorter than 5 feet, so you’ll need to make sure it’s nice and tall to keep me safe. I’m super treat-motivated, so if you’ve got some tasty snacks, you’ve got my full attention! I love playing with tug-of-war toys, squeaky toys, and those fun puzzle toys that reward me with treats when I figure them out. I’ve got lots of energy, so I need both physical exercise and mental stimulation to stay happy. But don’t worry — I’m not all about playtime. I’m also a big snuggler and love cuddling up with you for some quality downtime. Everyone I’ve met has fallen in love with my goofy, sweet personality, and I know I’ll make an amazing companion for the right family. Could that be you? If you are interested in meeting Noodle, apply to adopt him at www.causeforcanines.org Adoption fee: $350 Must be an Ohio resident & 23 or older. Children must be 8 or older. ##2245461##

Story
Chili is a beautiful 4-year old (possible) Border Collie/Whippet mix who was brought to HSOV on November 5, 2024 after she was found in Marietta Ohio. Chili was quite visibly pregnant when she entered our shelter and our compassionate HSOV staff kept a close watchful eye on her since it seemed that she would likely give birth in the next few days. Chili was taken to one of our wonderful local veterinarians on November 11th since she hadn’t given birth on her own, and she underwent a Cesarean Section. Chili gave birth to 11 premature puppies and, in spite of heroic efforts by everyone involved, none of the babies survived. Chili was spayed while she was under anesthesia and returned to HSOV a few days later where she followed doctor’s orders (bed rest/relaxation and no strenuous activity) and remained in a quiet room of her own. Chili has a black-and-white short smooth coat, black freckles/ticking on her front legs, a long tail, and an adorable symmetrically-marked face with dark brown eyes, a slender muzzle, and large semi-erect/horizontal ears. Chili has a sweet, outgoing personality. This collection of photos were taken during the month of November 2024 beginning with the first day we had the pleasure of meeting Chili on November 5th and HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver accompanied her for photos in the HSOV lobby. The second set of photos were taken on November 7th when Chili was in her spacious 'maternity ward' near the hallway/lobby of our shelter. Chili looked so beautiful that day relaxing on a bright red-and-black plaid blanket. The last set of photos were taken on November 17th when Chili was recuperating from the loss of her puppies. HSOV Volunteer Emma Dahlgren had Chili outdoors that afternoon to spend some time in the sunshine/fresh air .. And Chili was showered with attention from Emma. Chili loves her people friends but is a bit selective about which dogs she accepts into her circle of friends (and she is a bit jealous of other dogs when it comes to receiving attention). Chili loves to snuggle on the shelter sofa when she is treated to social outings in the lobby. Chili weighs approximately 60 lbs and is fairly energetic. She loves to jump on her human friends for attention and may unintentionally knock small/young children down. This gorgeous empty-nester is ready to find a loving home of her very own.
