Story
Maeve is a nearly 5 year old (in December) beautiful and intelligent purebred Sable German Shepherd with an impressive pedigree who is, unfortunately, seeking a new environment where she can thrive. Maeve was raised with our two children in a loving household and a big yard to exercise and explore in. She is very healthy, up to date on all vaccinations, current on preventatives, and never has accidents.  Despite her sweet and affectionate nature, she has unfortunately become overly dominant in her current household, leading to tension with the other dogs. Although we believe she would never bite a human and especially our children we do worry about this behavior resulting in indirect harm if allowed to escalate. This is a very difficult decision for us to make, but we believe it is in Maeve's best interest to find her an only dog home where she can thrive.  Maeve is a loyal and protective companion who loves spending time with her humans. She is well-trained and enjoys walking/running, being outside, playing fetch, and cuddling on the couch. However, due to her alpha tendencies, she requires a home without other pets. Previous experience with German Shepherds may be beneficial for both Maeve and her future parents.  We are hopeful to find the loving lower stress home Maeve deserves. This has been a heart wrenching decision for us that we would not have made if we did not feel it was in Maeve's best interest. She is a strong, beautiful, highly intelligent and loyal protector that we love fiercely and will miss dearly.   Please contact Jarrod with any questions. Story
Meet Goldie! Goldie is 1-2 year old Boxer mix who was found roaming the streets in Columbus. Luckily, she found a wonderful family to take her in and reached out to PetPromise to help find her forever family. Goldie loves to play with other dogs, toys and cuddle. She is learning to love crate time and is currently working on house training. She gets along well with other dogs and cats. She quickly learned how to “sit” and we have no doubt she can learn many more tricks. She would do well in an active home with another active dog to play with. She is working on potty training and doing well with consistent positive reinforcement. She is very treat motivated and learning very quickly. She has already mastered sit! Goldie is also working on her crate training. She is doing excellent and is great with other dogs! She will ready for obedience classes when she is adopted. We HIGHLY encourage obedience/behavior training for all of our pups once adopted into their forever homes. If you live an active lifestyle and are ready to bring this adorable girl into you home, please apply to meet her at PetPromise.org Please fill out an adoption application at PetPromise.org We only adopt out in Columbus, Ohio area only. Adoption fee is $400

Story
Say hello to sweet Winter! Despite her chilling name, this girl has a warm, welcoming heart! This girl is full of life and is always looking to play. Making new friends is her specialty, and her joy and excitement is infectious. At 45 pounds, she's the perfect size for couch cuddles. Winter loves making doggy friends as well! She has lots of fun playing with her pals in our shelter playgroups, so she would be a great choice if you have a pup at home looking for company. Winter has spent some time in a foster home, where she has been a great house guest! She took a few days to settle in, and now she likes to spend her days chewing on toys, going for walks, playing with dog friends, and even got to visit a dog-friendly patio! She has been living with two cats and has done well, but it did take her a while to stop chasing them (playfully, of course). If you have cats at home, it is best if they are resilient or are used to an exuberant dog. Winter is sure to bring lots of joy into your life, so come meet this sweet girl today!Winter is currently living it up in her foster home! If you'd like to set up a time to meet her, please reach out to us at 614-777-7387.

Story
Meet Layla! This beautiful black and white pup's sleek looks are rivaled only by her brains. She's a quick study, and has been working hard in the shelter on various tricks and behaviors like sitting before coming out of her kennel and walking nicely on leash. She loves training, especially when the treats are extra good (little tip: soft jerky treats are her favorite). Once she gets to know you, Layla is as loyal as they come, obediently shadowing her human and supervising all their activities. In the shelter, Layla has shown that she's a little unsure around other dogs, so she would like any potential canine roommates to schedule a playdate beforehand to make sure they can respect her space. If you've been missing the comforting presence of a sweet, furry shadow following during your daily routine, Layla might be the girl for you!

Story
Meet Baby Girl, a lively girl who's absolutely brimming with sweet, friendly energy. This exuberant pup thrives on interaction and loves to play, her tail wagging non-stop whenever she's engaged in a game of fetch or tug-of-war. When she's done playing, though, she's always sure to settle in for a good snuggle session with her humans. Baby Girl is one smart cookie, and loves learning new tricks and behaviors. While in the shelter she's learned sit, down, and roll over, and she's sure to keep growing her repertoire in her new home. Baby Girl would love to find a home that will continue her training to keep her brain sharp and ready for action! If you love playtime, sunny walks, and learning new things with a canine friend, come see Baby Girl today!

Story
Meet Eliza! This beautiful speckled girl has quickly made herself a staff and volunteer favorite by showing off both her loving personality and her hilarious antics. She also gives awesome hugs! Eliza loves getting lots of pets, taking long, slow walks, and snacking on stuffed Kongs. Every time she comes back from a walk, she insists on greeting everyone she passes to make sure they're all getting a healthy dose of puppy kisses. She's lived well with other dogs before, and enjoys playtime with her canine friends here at the shelter. At eight months old, she's still getting used to the world around her, and sometimes new things will seem scary! But with a little support and a couple of treats, she's made it through every challenge she's faced. If you're finding yourself in need of some pure puppy love, come see Eliza today for a pick-me-up!
