Story
Meet Avi! He is the true meaning of rescue. Avi used to live with an abusive owner, until we changed his path! He has come so far, and has been clicker trained, but is still healing and will need a patient adopter who is willing to continue his training. He is about 9 years old and weighs around 55 lbs. He loves everyone he meets, but is not good with children or cats, and doesn't understand why they move so fast. He is slow to trust, but very playful and affectionate once he knows he is safe. Avi will jump a fence that is smaller than 6 ft tall, and will need long daily walks. He currently lives with and loves his boxer bulldog mix foster brother, but knows he is the pretty one! A home with another playful husky or other dog similar in size would be ideal! HUSKY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. CANNOT BE PLACED WITH CHILDREN OR CATS. If you want to be a part of Avi's recovery and future, and are willing to invest in long term training, apply for him today! His adoption fee is $25. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LOUC/Dog All of our animals come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and Bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Between December 1st and 17th, part of my adoption fee is sponsored! Thanks to the Bissell Pet Foundation's Empty the Shelters campaign, my new family can take me home for $0! Meet Petey! Petey is a 9-year-old, 56lb Pitt Bull mix who loves lounging at home with his people. A perfect day for Petey would include exploring his yard, a brief 5-minute play session, followed by napping the rest of the day away! He is a low-key guy that takes time to warm up to new people. Once he realizes you're his friend he likes to stay close. Petey is house trained and crate trained, though he would prefer to free roam. Although he is a low energy dog, he does not enjoy other dogs, cats or children and will need an adult-only, calm, quiet home. Petey is searching for a family who will help give him the confidence and time he needs to be his best self! If you are interested in a loyal, couch-loving buddy, Petey may be the one for you! His adoption fee is sponsored. To adopt this pet, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and Bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. Story
Meet Pongo! Pongo is a 3 year old, 33 pound, sweet as can be pup! While his parents are unknown, Pongo resembles a Boston Terrier on stilts and he has the most hilarious ears that stand up and then flop over to the side. They are too cute! Pongo is a higher energy guy that loves to play! While he does well with his furry foster siblings, he does tend to participate in high energy play, which might be off putting to some dogs. He would do very well in a home with another dog that likes to play and isn't intimidated by Pongo being in their face. Pongo is very sweet to all humans in his foster home, but the best permanent home would be one without small children. Pongo is well behaved in his crate and is working hard to perfect potty training. He would do best in a home willing to participate in professional training to help Pongo become his best self. This young guy is looking for his perfect forever family, filled with love, play and lots of walks! If that sounds like you - apply today! Pongo's adoption fee is $275. Story
Say HELLO to Apollo! This big man is a 7-year-old, 96lb sweetheart. Although his life didn't start out the best, he is determined to find his furever family. He is crate trained and house trained. He's a minimal barker but will whine when he wants to go outside. Apollo, like Herman Munster is a love bug that doesn't realize his own size or strength. He would do best in a home with older children and without small animals. Apollo knows how to sit but hasn't quite gotten the hang of holding the command for long. He also struggles with keeping all four paws on the floor, but hopes you'll overlook it as he's so darn cute! He loves to be with people and hasn't met a stranger. The big lug will try to sit in your lap! He would love a low key forever home. Apply to adopt this hunk today! His adoption fee is $275.00. Story
Meet Romy, an almost 5 year-old Bichon Frise with a heart full of potential and a past that's slowly becoming a memory. Once a puppy mill mom, Romy is now learning what it means to be in a safe place full of patience and love. She's nervous around new people and situations as she navigates how to "dog." Everything in the dog world is new to her - treats, leashes, toys, the outdoors, but she is discovering the cozy comforts of the couch and the excitement of being in the sunshine. She enjoys her furry foster friends and follows her foster mom from room to room. Romy does need a fenced-in yard and another social dog in the home to help her build confidence. She's looking for a patient person or family who will guide her through this new chapter with kindness and understanding. If you have a gentle heart and are ready to give a puppy mill momma a fresh start, Romy is the girl for you. Romy is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. Her adoption fee is $300.00. Story
Meet Kieran! Kieran is a 5-year-old, 22-pound Bichon Frise. Kieran is a rescue from a puppy mill, and as such, is fairly skittish around people. She is fostered with other dogs her size and does well with them! Kieran is still trying to figure out what a dog is supposed to do, as leash walking, treats, and playing are all new to her. She will need a calm, patient household to help her blossom. An adopter with another confident dog would be helpful. Are you the white knight wanting to rescue this damsel in distress? Kieran is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. Her adoption fee is $300.
