Story
Meet Cherry 🍒 2 year old, Mixed breed, 30lbs, female Cherry came to us a few months ago after she was abandoned in a parking lot with cardboard box full of newborn pups. Luckily a Good Samaritan picked her up and got her to safety. She had 8 beautiful pups and she was such a good mommy. Now it’s her turn to find a forever home! She is on the submissive side and good with other dogs. She is house trained, although we do think she has never lived indoors with a family. We are working on her confidence and she will need a patient home. Cherry is very sweet and loves her belly rubbed. We believe she may be a Mountain Cur mix. Cherry is now current on vaccines, heart worm tested negative, spay, and microchipped. We are accepting applications at https://form.jotform.com/secondhandpaws/app

Story
Meet Max 💕 3 years old, shepherd mix (best guess), male, 57 lbs Max came to us from a Ky rural shelter that was at capacity. He is incredibly sweet, and playful. Max loves other dogs, but will do best as an only pet. He doesn’t like sharing attention. He loves toys, and food puzzles. Max catches on to commands fairly quickly but will need consistency. He Appears to be house broken. Max needs crated at night, and when away. He gets bored, and will chew things he is not supposed to. Max doesn’t love the crate but will go in when you toss in a treat. He might bark for a few minutes or if he sees you, and eventually settles down. Max does well with kids loves all people but does jump when he gets excited. He is current on vaccinations, heart worm testing, microchipped, and neutered. We are accepting applications at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SHPA/Dog

Story
Nelson (Woody) Born 5/19/23; Heeler/terrier mix, 20lbs Woody was adopted as a young puppy, amd returned for behavioral issues due to his energy not being met. With some structure, and lots of fetching, Woody is ready to roll! He loves to play, but loves to snuggle just as much. He very much wants to be in your business, and apart of everything. He loves going for cars rides too! Woody will do best in a home that is familiar with Heeler behavior, and their needs. He is house trained, crate trained, and does well on a leash. Woody is current on vaccines, microchipped, and neutered. We are accepting applications at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SHPA/Dog

Story
July 2024: Noah is growing more confident. He still needs another dog to play with and follow. He is crate trained and needs a 6' fence. He is walking on a leash and had his first outing to Lowes this week and did great. Feb 2024: Noah is a happy high stepping 11 month old pup. He evens smiles. That being said he will need an experienced adopter, secure 6' fence, and an active playmate. He will adjust so much better with a playful dog to follow. He is totally crate trained and loves being outside playing with toys. He has been fearful since he was 2 months old Found alone in a road in Eastern KY. He walks fine on a leash and is very friendly at our public events at Petsmart. At the foster home, he is afraid of strangers. He will just need time and patience and will be an outstanding friendly playful pet. Update 9/5/23 His DNA is in and the picture included. He is a happy pup who high steps with happiness. He will do much better with a playmate and dog to follow. He is crate trained. Update 8/15/23 Noah is growing! he is doing well, getting used to being handled. He loves other dogs and needs a companion to follow and play with. He is doing great with crate training and needs to be gotten out quickly in the morning to avoid accidents. He smiles and high steps in excitement when you talk to him now! So cute. Probably going to be around 30-35 lbs. He is 6 months old and 25 lbs. Freds Mission Rescue has an adoption radius of 100 miles from Cincinnati. All dogs are fully vetted, altered, current on flea/tick/heartworm/wormer, and microchipped. The rescue does not adopt out to properties with invisible fences or tie outs. Application: https://form.jotform.com/FredsMission/app

Story
Update 7/12/2024: Gypsy is full of life she has not let her disability slow her down. She loves people and does well with dogs if introduced properly. She tries her best to walk sometimes it looks as though she is but she really isn't she is using her whole body to move her back legs. She enjoys everything she does and would be a great companion for running in the back yard, in a stroller for walks watching TV. She does have a wheelchair for outside, gets along fine in house scooting. She needs to be expressed 3-4 times a day and poops on her own, although she has no control on when. She is a very fun dog and will make anyone smile. Update: Gypsy doing great! She can stand on non slippery surfaces and is still doing underwater treadmill therapy. She does have a wheelchair for outside, gets along fine in house scooting. She needs to be expressed 3-4 times a day and poops on her own, although she has no control when. She is a happy girl who loves people and other dogs. She needs little time for introduction to new dogs, but after that does great. She is vocal at other dogs on leashes and can be a bit obnoxious (if you have seen her at our events you understand!) Reach out at Fredsmission18@gmail.com if you would like more info.
