Story
Kane is a very shy and sweet boy. He will need an adopter that is familiar with the breed and knows how to help him gain confidence. He is not a candidate for an adopter that hasn't had dogs in the past or any adopters with small children. He is crate and house trained for the most part. He does get nervous when you leave and sometimes has accidents in his crate. He is dog selective and would do best in a home with no other dogs. Kane is very smart and rings a bell on the door when he has to go outside to potty! He loves to nap on your lap and would make a great work from home buddy. He was abused when he was a little puppy and has an unusual bark. He's been through a lot and needs an adopter that will be patient while he adjusts to his new home.   Kane is up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, neutered , microchipped, dewormed and on flea/heartworm prevention.    Kane’s adoption fee is $200.     The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application. Sweetie pie Izzy is looking for a new forever home. She unfortunately is no longer getting along with the other pets in her home. She will need to be the only pet going forward. She absolutely loves people and is so smart! About Izzy: - she LOVES people - she enjoys snuggles, pets and any attention - she loves all toys, especially bones - she is already house trained  - she is crate trained (but won’t need a crate with no other pets around) - she knows commands sit, stay, heel and come very well - she is great on a leash and loves walks - she is a wonderful travel partner - great on car rides and adjusts to new places easily If interested in meeting Izzy, please fill out an adoption application: https://www.scarohio.org/adoption-application October 14, 2024, 12:24 am

Story
***BLAKE IS A COURTESY POST - HE IS NOT IN OUR CARE***   Blake is 3 yrs old and 65 lbs, neutered and up to date on vaccines.Blake is an owner surrender. His family had called a local vets to have him put to sleep for an incident with the cat he had lived with (we don't have any details of the situation). They reached out to someone for help and they ended up taking him so he wouldn’t be euthanized. He is currently at a local boarding facility but needs a forever home. He is housebroken. He is dog friendly (but we haven’t introduced him to dogs under 30 pounds). He loves everyone he meets, loves attention, going on outings to the pet store and the company of other dogs.   If interested, please fill out an adoption application: https://www.scarohio.org/adoption-application   We will forward the application to the kennel he is currently at and they will contact you. Story
Cheerio is ready for his forever home! He went to the cardiologist earlier this month and was diagnosed with moderate to severe pulmonic stenosis. He has started atenolol, a beta blocker. This medicine lowers the heart rate and decreases the heart’s demand for oxygen which will help regulate his heart beat. He will be on the beta blocker for the rest of his life. It is a fairly inexpensive medicine and will cost the adopter around $10-$25/month. He will also be due for a follow up echocardiogram in six months to ensure the medicine is working and that is doesn’t need to be adjusted. There is a surgery that is recommended for Cheerio if his condition doesn’t improve with this medicine. It is a very costly surgery and does not guarantee a complete fix which is why we have decided to go this route and not have him go through this risky surgery at such a young age. We are hoping there is a special home out there for Cheerio. He is a very sweet boy and deserves the best! If you are interested in Cheerio please fill out an adoption application at: https://www.scarohio.org/adoption-application If you want to know more in detail about Cheerio’s medical condition, please email us at scarohio@gmail.com    October 14, 2024, 12:24 am

Story
TEDDY 3YRS 30LBS MALE AUS CATTLE DOG LISA 1YR 20 LBS FEMALE MIX MUST HAVE ACD/HERDING BREED EXPERIENCE BONDED PAIR-Ever wanted a dog for you and a dog for your sig other but were afraid of clashing personalities? Well, not here because these two love each other, a LOT, so at least you know they get along perfectly and there is one for each of you. 2x the love!!!!!!!!!!!!! (And man, are they CUTE!) They travel often in the car with me for over an hour at a time - they do ride crated. Load up easy and ride quietly- unless we go through a drive through then Lisa has opinions about what she wants too. She likes to play ball, but not as intense as Teddy and will just let him get it and go find something else to do. They play and wrestle with each other and other dogs. Not overly rough but will get on ground with each other. They love to run laps in the yard chasing each other. They leave my uninterested dogs alone, as there is always someone else to play with. Lisa did not get along with my 1 male foster - just a little 10 pounder . Not sure who to started the war, but I did not leave them loose with each other * no actual fight/injury/contact ever occured. There was alot of noise 1 time, and they would grumble at each other when passing by each other's crates/run at work. Teddy is pretty easy going but doesn't like to be corrected. He will get bossy -verbal and pin someone who tries to But a sharp HEY from me and he will stop and walk away * never has been a fight or injury. Loves to play fetch and the other dogs do not challenge him to get the ball away from him. He would definitely destroy a stuffed toy if given the chance. They both love to chew on antlers/ nylabones/Benebone etc Teddy is a super cuddler and happy to hang on the couch or bed. Lisa loves attention too but takes a bit more to settle down at first. Both settle quickly and Quietly in a crate. They are both jumpers and when seeking attention. They have gotten better, but would need to be reminded of their manners going forward. We do not require a fenced BUT they would need a secure area to be able to run in and burn off energy weekly. Crate trained and housebroken   This animal is up to date on all shots, dewormed, and spayed/neutered. They have been heartworm tested (negative) and on prevention.  The adoption fee is $400.00 for the pair. If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an application. http://www.ajssearchandrescue.org/adoption-applicationDecember 18, 2024, 10:28 am

Story
Sonne is about 8 years old, and has been with my family since he was a puppy. He is playful and energetic, and is a very sweet boy in a controlled environment, but he is unpredictable. He loves to cuddle, adores soft blankets and fluffy toys. He is happiest when snuggling on the couch, but he also loves to run, and is a pretty good jogging partner. Sonne is being rehomed due to his reactivity and aggression. While he has never been aggressive with me, my mother, or my sister, he is unpredictably aggressive towards male family members and strangers. I have not been able to identify specific triggers for his aggression with family, and most of the time he does very well, but then he will bite without warning. We have tried training, positive/negative reinforcement, muzzling, without success. We can’t offer him the controlled environment that he needs. He would do well in a female-only household where he can be isolated from strangers. Has adjusted to living with other dogs in the home.
