THIS IS WHY WE FUNDRAISE AND NEED MORE FOSTER FAMILIES! DONATIONS CAN BE MADE AT OHIOBASSETRESCUE.COM. Benjamin, Franklin, Eleanore, and Betsy all came to us from a rural high kill shelter and were days from being put down. They are not related and do not need to be adopted together. All 4 beagles are severely underweight and will be given dentals before adoption. They have been spayed and neutered and up to date on all shots. They will be available to go to new homes as soon as their vetting is completed but we will begin taking apps for them. They are located in Columbus. All 4 beagles are between 14 and 19 pounds now but do need to gain weight. They will require homes with fenced in yards and their adoption fees are $250 each. Benjamin is estimated to be 2, Franklin 1, Eleanore and Betsy 3.  If you are interested in meeting one of them you MUST APPLY ONLINE FIRST. Please visit our website to apply ohiobassetrescue.com. Story
Phantom came into my care when he was around 3-4 years old. I knew nothing of his life prior, only that my mom found him on an ad online. However, it was evidently clear that he had scarring on his face from what looked to be some severe bites. It wasn't a week later during a walk that we discovered he was dog reactive. I've had phantom for six years now. In that time he's taken anxiety-managing medications and worked with a trainer at home and during a month-long board and train location where they worked on his behavoral issues and dog reactivity. The training has helped in some areas. Phantom has lived with other dogs peacefully before, but he is dog selective. He currently lives with another dog that he does not get along with, and as he ages and develops cataracts, their disagreements increase. The other dog in the home is also elderly, and the pair of them simply don't get along. I love phantom, and I want him to enjoy his golden years in a single-dog household.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Updated:   Jelly Bean our sweet 1 year old Easter Beagle Basset has moved into a foster home in Dayton! This sweet girl came to us from a kill shelter with 3 yo Skittles who is thought to be her mother. Jelly loves to play and run so will need a secure fenced yard. She is a little more reserved at the moment but hopefully will blossom in her foster home. She is a snuggler but is NOT a fan of car rides. That may change in time but her only 2 car rides in rescue have come with a lot of panting, drooling, and car sickness. But she is young! The girls at the vet staff says she keeps a clean kennel so house training should be easy but she was an outside. She is the true meaning of rescue! Story
Freddy is my sweet sweet baby. We saved him with intention to fostered him in 2021. I picked him up from a boarded up junkyard when he was about 4 months old. His parents were there- a Siberian husky and American bulldog- they watched us leave. It was heartbreaking. My husband and I are military part time and federal employees full time. Between being gone on military orders and traveling for work; Freddy is just not as happy as he deserves. We don’t crate Freddy although he is crate trained. He has free range of the house and never messes with anything and doesn’t have accidents unless he is sick. Freddy doesn’t bark, he has a cough- although he has accidentally barked before and scared himself. He is very smart. I had him in obedience classes from 4 to 24 months, he always did very well. We continued sessions at parks and stores wifh a trainer where he also did very well. His behavior depends on his mood sometimes he chooses to be more distracted. He’s a great kid loving dog.
