Story
?? Meet Madea: Big Personality, Bigger Heart! ?? If you’ve ever seen Tyler Perry’s Madea, you know she’s sassy, bold, and always the life of the party. Our Madea might not wear a wig or crack jokes, but she’s got that same unstoppable spirit and infectious energy! Madea is a 72lb bundle of joy who truly doesn’t realize her size—she’ll toss her weight around like she’s light as a feather, especially when she’s excited (which is all the time)! Treats make her extra wiggly, and you can’t help but grin when you’re around her—her happiness is absolutely contagious. This girl is all about fun and living in the moment. When she meets other dogs, her enthusiasm sometimes gets the best of her, and she tends to ignore doggy etiquette. Even when another dog gives her a warning bark, Madea just keeps on trying to play—she’ll definitely need to work on her canine communication skills. She’s a strong walker and can pull on the leash, so she’d love someone who can help her learn to take it slow and enjoy the stroll. With a little training and a lot of love, Madea will make you laugh ?? every single day.If you’re ready for a sassy, happy, and endlessly loving companion, Madea is your girl! Come meet her at the shelter (??430 Bristol Dr., Statesville, NC) and see if she’s the Madea to your family’s story.

Story
Meet Nami! ??This 3-year-old sweetheart came to us as a stray after her finder spotted her along a busy road while visiting family. When a microchip was discovered, we were hopeful that a reunion with her family would soon follow. Unfortunately, the number listed on her chip was no longer in service, and the microchip company confirmed that her previous owner—who had only adopted her in October 2024—could not be reached. While she was featured on our website during her stray hold, no one came forward to reclaim her. With that chapter closed, we’re now focused on helping Nami find the loving, dependable forever family she truly deserves. ??We don’t know much about her past, but we do know this: she is an absolute joy! Nami was recently tested with a similar-sized spayed female, and she did wonderfully. She approached with friendly curiosity, tail wagging non-stop, and her playful energy shined. This little muscular cutie has a big heart and an even bigger enthusiasm for making new friends. Now fully vetted—including being spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines and preventatives—Nami is officially ready for adoption and ready to start fresh. ??If you’d like to meet this adorable little “body-builder” of a pup, please stop by the shelter! As always, we recommend meet-and-greets with any dogs and children in the home to ensure a great fit for everyone. And don’t forget the 3-3-3 Rule when adopting a shelter pet—it helps set everyone up for success! 3 days to decompress (overwhelmed), 3 weeks to learn routines and start feeling safe (showing personality), and 3 months (or longer) to fully relax, bond, and feel like they belong!!Nami – A3115473 years old • Spayed female • 42 lbs • Microchipped • UTD on vaccines & preventatives#adoptfromicas #myicasrescue

?? Abe is Back and Looking for His True Forever Home ?? Sweet Abe is back at the shelter and looking for his real, true family! If you remember, Abe was one of our long-timers, spending over a month at the shelter before being adopted. He recently spent two weeks with what we hoped would be his forever family, but unfortunately, his adopter stated they had to move unexpectedly, somewhere that didn’t allow pets, so Abe is back with us through no fault of his own.The silver lining is that we’ve learned even more about Abe and can help him find the perfect match this time! While he was away, Abe lived with a one-year-old child and did wonderfully. He also made friends with the family’s dogs and cats, making him a great fit for homes with other pets. Abe can be a little nervous in new situations, so he’s looking for patient people who will give him time to adjust and feel safe.Abe is making great progress with potty training, walks well on a leash, does well in a crate, and knows the “sit” command. He’s a smart, gentle soul who just wants a family to call his own.If you have a spot in your heart and home for this sweet boy, come meet Abe at the shelter (??430 Bristol. With all this new information, we’re hopeful his stay will be short, and he’ll find his true forever family soon! His Adoption FEE is WAIVED!????We always recommend meet-and-greets with any resident dogs or children before adoption to ensure a great fit for everyone! And remember the 3-3-3 Rule when it comes to adopting a shelter pet. It takes 3 Days to decompress (overwhelmed, may hide/sleep), 3 Weeks to learn routines (settling in, testing boundaries), and 3 Months to feel truly at home (trust, true personality emerges). Abe (A310417)?? Age: 1 year, 1 month?? Neutered male?? 39.5 lbs?? Microchipped & UTD on vaccines/preventatives as administered while here at the shelter#adoptfromicas #myicasrescue

?? Coach is Back… and Ready for His REAL Forever Home! ??Many of you may remember Coach, who was adopted in November. Sadly, this sweet boy is back through absolutely no fault of his own — and his adoptive family was heartbroken to return him. ??They adored Coach and gave it their all to make things work. Everyone in the home loved him… except for one resident dog who simply did not accept Coach and made it unsafe for him to remain. Despite the other dog’s aggression — including an incident where Coach was grabbed — this precious boy never once held a grudge.? Even immediately afterward, Coach was trying to initiate play, offering forgiveness in the purest way only a dog can. ?Coach got along beautifully with the other dogs in the home, including the small dogs (even the one who didn’t like him — and that’s okay; personality clashes happen!). His sweet nature shined through constantly: he shared toys, food, and snacks with everyone.?? Everything we know about Coach:• 1 year, 1 month old • 54 lbs• Neutered, microchipped & UTD on vaccines• House-trained• LOVES other dogs & did great in playgroups here• Shares toys & food graciously• Believes he is a 54-pound LAP DOG ??• Very affectionate, very sweet• Not a fan of the crate — he will tell you loudly how he feels about it ??• Gets so excited to greet you that he jumps (he’s working on that `no` word)This handsome, loving boy is looking for his second chance — the forever family who will treasure him the way he deserves. ????We always recommend meet-and-greets with dogs and children to ensure the perfect match, and don’t forget the 3-3-3 Rule when welcoming a new pet into your home.Come meet Coach and see whether he’s the loyal, snuggly soul you’ve been searching for. ???

??? Higgins Had the BEST Day Ever! ???When we say Higgins was THE perfect boy on his field trip today… we might actually be understating it! This sweet guy was an absolute superstar from start to finish. ?????? Car Ride Pro Status:Higgins rides like a champ! If he needs a little encouragement to self-load, a treat or toy does the trick. He kept his eyes on the road the whole time—probably more than the humans did, because they were too busy admiring him!??? Radio Station Visit:Once at the station, Higgins made LOTS of new friends and even told Santa his Christmas wish… we’re pretty sure it’s the same one we have for him: a forever family of his very own. ?? He did amazing on air!?? ECom Adventures:Afterwards, he visited our friends at ECom where he brought smiles to every Telecommunicator he met. He showed off his command skills, posed for photos with shelter friends Amber and Tracy, and snapped pics with ECom friend Paula at their festive photo booth. What. A. Day!Now Higgins is back at the shelter—probably taking a well-earned nap ??—but he will gladly wake up to meet anyone interested in making him part of their family.?? Meet Higgins Today! He’s a perfect 1 year, 3-month-old sweetheart spending his 92nd day here… and we truly can’t believe he’s still waiting. We always recommend meet-and-greets with other dogs and children. Higgins is used as a greeter dog here at the shelter and participates in behavior tests with other dogs—so that should tell you just how wonderful he is with canine friends!?? Remember the 3-3-3 Rule:3 days to decompress3 weeks to learn the routine3 months to feel fully at homeHiggins is ready to start his journey with you.?? Let’s get this perfect boy home for the holidays… ALL of them, forever.A308679: Neutered male • 1 yr 3 mo • 49.70 lbs • Microchipped & UTD on vaccines/preventatives at ICAS His fee is waived AND his adopter will receive two FREE sessions with HK9 Training! #adoptfromicas #myicasrescue

Meet Benny: A Gentle Soul Looking for a Patient Home or Rescue Placement ?????Benny is a one-year-old dog with a truly sweet soul, but he is having a tough time adjusting to life in the shelter. Benny originally came to us as a stray—he was spotted running loose, but he was so scared that no one could get close enough to catch him. It took some tasty treats and a humane trap to bring Benny to safety. When he arrived, we could tell he was in good physical condition, but it was clear that he hadn’t been well socialized and was very unsure of people.Over the next several days, our staff spent time sitting quietly with him and winning him over with tatsy treats. Little by little, he started to trust us. Now, he greets us with a wagging tail at the front of his cage, and his eyes are full of hope, showing us the light inside him and his willingness to trust, even though he’s still learning how.Benny has come a long way, but he will need a special home—one with a family that understands he needs patience and time to adjust at his own pace. He is still nervous about many new experiences, and the world can feel overwhelming for him. Benny is especially fearful of leashes and is currently being carried; we are working every day to help him feel more comfortable with this.Because he is so sensitive to noise and commotion, Benny would do best in a home without small children. He would likely thrive with another confident, friendly dog who can help him learn what it means to be part of a family and encourage him to come out of his shell. We are giving Benny enrichment time in our office to help him feel more comfortable, but we know that a loving, patient home would make all the difference for this special boy.If you’re searching for a loyal companion to nurture—a dog who will reward your patience with unwavering gratitude and affection—Benny may be the perfect match. He’s waiting to meet a gentle, understanding family who can give him the loving home he’s been hoping for.
