Story
We are making the difficult decision to rehome our dog, Rocky, due to ongoing behavioral challenges. Over the past year, he has been marking throughout the house despite veterinary guidance, showing some aggression toward our other dog, and reacting aggressively by barking at anyone passing outside. We believe he would thrive in a calm, quiet home as the only pet, where he can feel more secure. He is a huge snuggler with his adult people, is UTD on all vaccines (as of 2/14/2025), and is neutered. He's an absolutely sweetheart but since moving into our new home a little over a year ago, his behavior has shifted. This is not an easy choice for our family, but we want what’s best for him. If you can provide a loving and stable environment, please reach out.🐾

Story
He is playful, loves walking and being outdoors. He is a very loving dog and will cuddle up with his human companions. He does love his dog friends and will run around with them outside. He is house trained and crate trained. However, we have tried to work with him when it comes to our cats, but he doesn’t seem to be very friendly towards them. He will need a home with no cats, but other dogs and kids will do fine. Bullet does catch on to basic commands and does know the basics like sit, paw, etc. The only issue we have with him is that the way he is with our cats. Other than that, he is a wonderful dog and loves his human and fellow canine friends. Contact Scott at 980-621-4011 for adoption or any questions

Story
Zeus is a good boy. We got him from a shelter about 3 yrs ago. We had twins(wasn’t planned), and he is just too high energy and big. He has been great with all my kids, but his size and energy makes us nervous. He loves to be loved. He’s friendly with our other dog, but does try to take all the attention. He’s a very loving dog. With room to run and someone to love him, he will flourish.

Story
Meet Poppy! Poppy is a 3 year old Dane that was at a local surrender as a stray. We don't have a lot of info on her previous life but we do know she has had several litters. Poppy evaluated well at the shelter but sometimes in a shelter environment you don't always get a good read on a dog because they are stressed. Now...don't take that wrong...she is an amazingly sweet sweet girl! But... she is not so great with other dogs IN the home. She can go out in public and be around other dogs with a confident owner that is good at reading her signals if she is stressed. She doesn't bark or lunge or any of that nonsense unless she is with a "soft" owner and one where she feels they are not in control or confident. But... if a dog invades her space or their energy is too much she will let them know and fire off. Poppy LOVES her people and wants to be as close as she can. She is a first class cuddler! You need to keep food off the counters because this girl came in hungry and even though she is now getting regular meals she can counter surf like a pro! Since Poppy was a little rough around the edges we sent this beauty off to training. While she was there they worked on her being able to be OK around other dogs in public and also worked on desensitizing her on storms. Sister has some storm anxiety but if she is in her XXL kennel will settle. If you are at home and a storm rolls up...just put her in place with her place command and she will lay down and you won't hear a peep! Did we say how incredibly smart this girl is?? She is food motivated and would be great with a family that would want to continue training and keep her mind stimulated! Her trainer had a 5 month old and she was great with them...even gave her sweet kisses! Poppy rides great in the car, house trained and good on leash. Poppy is up to date on all vaccines, spayed and has had her stomach tacked to prevent gastric torsion. Poppy is being fostered in Concord NC with her trainer. He will provide extra training to her new owners and work with them and her on acclimating into a new home. Poppy needs a dog savvy owner that is confident and sets boundaries for her so she doesn't feel she needs to step up to do that. Poppy will require a fenced yard and no kids under the age of 12yrs. While she has been great with kids a home with lots of new kids in and out all the time would stress her. If interested in Poppy send us an email at  greatdanefriends.com*****Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love covers NC and surrounding states for adoptions. We require a fenced yard (exceptions made on a case by case basis - NO exceptions for puppies or deaf/vision impaired dogs - no invisible fencing), that stairs in the home be covered with some sort of slip resistant material to prevent injury, that all other animals in the home be up to date on vaccinations as well as spayed/neutered and that all dogs live inside as a part of the family. Our approval process consists of an application, vet and reference checks, phone interview and house check. Story
Thor is a sweet three-year-old boy loves people and wants to be as close to you as he can. He enjoys daily walks and walks well on a leash most of the time. He rarely pulls but when he does, he is easily corrected. It is usually when he sees a squirrel. One of his favorite things to do is sit in front of a window and look out at the world around him. And he loves car rides, too. He acts nervous around other dogs at first, but he warms up quickly. His foster brother can play pretty rough, which Thor puts up with patiently and then just lets him know when he has had enough. Thor plays well with other dogs and enjoys running around the backyard. He would love to have a doggie brother or sister in his new home. Thor loves that his foster mom works from home. He will do best in a home where his owners are not gone for long periods of time. And no crates, please. He does not like them and will not go in them. He needs to be in a home that will not crate him. He sleeps through the night on his dog bed next to his foster mom’s bed. He doesn’t try to get up on the bed unless his foster mom calls him up. Kids? Thor loves them! Especially kids who give him lots of pets and love. Thor is very trustworthy in the house and is houses trained. He knows basic commands like sit and lay down and we are working on stay. He wants to be right by your side so stay is a little hard for him right now. He gets very excited when people enter the home but he calms down very quickly. Thor was an owner surrender who was taken in by a concerned family who nursed him back to health. He is about good as dogs come and just wants to show you how much he loves you. Thor is neutered and up to date on all vaccines. He is being fostered in Charlotte NC.
